Nessex
I was wondering how long that would take to show up here. Let the ROM Minimate begging begin!

hellpop
http://www.mtv.com/news/1862227/rom-the-space-knight-hasbro-sdcc-exclusive/ So Hasbro is somehow able to make a new Rom toy, and they go with a Mighty Mugg? As they'd say on the Fwoosh, this is a complete slap in the face! What an insult! They should all be fired! And so on. Though, seriously, a Mighty Mugg over a Marvel Legend is not a good idea. Ninja Mate
I dont see a problem with a Mighty Mugg. <---Mighty Mugg collector.
bigvis497
I noticed it doesn't say Marvel anywhere on the packaging? Unfortunately it looks like this is probably just a one off deal. I really want a Rom Minimate.
Shanester
I love ROM and remember playing with the toy as a kid and reading the books, but I dislike Muggs. In fact, I thought they were dead...
karamazov80
Though, seriously, a Mighty Mugg over a Marvel Legend is not a good idea.Could be a licensing restriction. Be easy to argue against a Mugg being an "action figure."
Shanester
I know for a fact that ROM is seriously tied up in licensing hell. Kinda like Micronauts, he was not a Marvel property, just published by Marvel and getting rights to use him is difficult. Bowen Designs has been trying to put out a ROM 1/6th scale statue for about a year now.
hellpop
He was owned by Parker Bros. The toy tanked long before the comic did, and the comic is still fondly remembered. Quesada looked into getting the rights to the character awhile ago, but Parker Bros (or whomever owns him now) wanted a ridiculous amount. I'm assuming that Hasbro's done what they could; it probably wouldn't be cost effective for them to do all the tooling a 6" Rom action figure would require. Still, it's pretty cool to get anything at all.
karamazov80
That's a good point. Muggs is one Hasbro toy line that would require very minimal tooling (his gun?).
boyd
Parker Brothers is owned by Hasbro, so Hasbro controls all the rights to ROM. The fact that they're making this toy means that they either see some value in ROM merchandise and licencing out the property, or they need product to renew the trademark. Shanester
I really thought that they said Muggs were dead. Maybe I just hoped it.
hellpop
They still make the mini ones for movies, don't they? I could have sworn I saw some recently at TRU for Iron Man or something. I have one, Galactus, which fits in nicely with my Pops.

I really thought that they said Muggs were dead. Maybe I just hoped it. booooo. Sorry man, if you are into them, I hope they continue. I don't want to poo poo somebody's passion. Seriously, but I did think they were over.

I know when a line is dead. and yeah, I thought they would be dead as well. and those minimugg things are atrocious. I hope I can score one online, as I'm too far away from SDCC. Hasbro usually puts stuff online after SDCC, so no worries. Edited July 17, 2014 by Ninja Mate
