Recruitment Drive!

Recommended Posts

Well we've been here a couple of months, no one has gone back to the AA Boards now they've returned (well 7,000,002 Trek fans have) so it looks like we are here to stay! (yay)

So next on the agenda is to make this place as huge as humanly possible!

To that end I ask you all to spread the word, anyone you know who you think might be interested, get em to sign up! Any boards where you think the members might want to head over and discuss the plastic crack, drop them a link, anyone who has a blog - stick a post up about the place. Anyone who's a lurker - sign up and say hi!

The more posts, the more members, the more traffic we have the better.

Anyone who has suggestions for pimping the place - let me know!

Anyone who has ideas for improvements, contests, new sections - heck anything please let me know!

We've had a great start and now lets go for gold!

Random thoughts:

- We send Ady out on a "media junket", where he can get interviewed at other web sites and help spread the word. (I have no idea what web sites - something pop-culture related, but not just Minimate. People's blogs, maybe?)

- Print more T-shirts with the URL? Maybe a T-shirt giveaway?

- The exclusive Minimate Multiverse Minimate?

- More publicity for the customizing contests. If we target the other action figure forums, we might be able to attract new customizers who could enjoy doing a simple Minimate custom.

- Add a permanent link from my own site (probably with the redesign)

Well, what about a contest.

"If you get 10 people that join and use your name as a refrence, you get a MMMV t-shirt"

This would require 2 things.

1) a new part on the sign up, where you put down the email of the friend that told you. OR, you just make sure they give a name when they say hello

2) $3 s/h (and production) for the tshirts after you get 10 people that refrence you as a sorce. But that's shipping. Esentially it's a free t-shirt!

I think it's faster and WAY cheaper then doing exclusive minimates. And best of all, it leaves the recruting up to others. Let's face it, who doesn't love free t-shirts?

Good idea?

I'd like to add a word of caution to those proselytizing on other boards:

Please don't be annoying.

Don't start a new thread saying "Check out this new Minimate board." Don't make multiple posts in different threads pushing this site. These kind of actions just end up pissing people off and give you, this site, and this site's members a bad image. (Learn from Shocker's mistakes.)

I think the ideal way to increase the views on this site is through being helpful. If somebody asks a Minimate related question, answer it. Then mention you found the information here, or that there is a large amount of Minimate information here.

Above all else, don't be a douche. :D

What about a guerilla fan club campaign?

In Targets, comic book stores, and other places Minimates are sold, mysterious business cards appear next to the merchandise.

The cards have the web urls of MMHQ, MMC, and MMHQ. They say "FREE UNOFFICIAL FAN CLUB CARD" or something like that.

Forum members around the world have the cards printed up and anonymously leave small stacks near the Minimates ...

We could have a contest in which members state, "If I left Fan Cards in stores, I would have left them in ---blank--- stores. But I deny taking any actions."

Thoughts? Ideas? Card designs?

^^nice idea JP. I would think/hope most comic book stores would be ok with you putting a stack of cards with the minimate display when new waves are out if you ask them (esp if you're a good customer)! Just be careful in major retailers (ie Target), we don't want to be looked at as pests and cause any deterrence in stocking minimates.

Lets design a few collector cards that feature minis on one side and info about the minis and MMMV on the other side. Kinda like bubble gum cards.

These can be made realtively inexpensively and licenses are usually not a problem as long as the cards are not sold.

Just an idea.

Well, I happen to know that it does. I am using an example that worked for another web forum that I belong to and not only was it a huge boon to membership, but you can often find the cards from this site selling for as much as $50. I have all the cards myself and we are still producing future waves.

Decals are a lot harder to get rid off than cards... Stick them everywhere - Streetlights, McDonald's tables, TRU pissers... That would probably get some attention...
