I'm gonna play "wait and see". Prometheus I had to see on opening day. Spiderman reboot can wait until I feel like it, awesome or not.

My local theater premiered it at 8:00PM yesterday {monday}, I did not even know it was playing until I drove by the theater and saw it was being released early. So obviously i watched it and I absolutely loved it. I love the relationship between Peter and Gwen and how that Peter does not always cry and try to save Gwen while she just sits there. When Peter gets sad he uses that emotion against his enemy's and Gwen actually fights and sticks up for herself and helps save the city. I love how Exhilarating it is when Spidey is swinging around the city {Especially the final scene}. I love how Peter/Spidey is always making funny remarks and does not stop. I loved how relatable and akward Andrew Garfield made Peter. Honestly my only problem is that Curt Connor's family should have showed up to add more heart to Curt/Lizard. Also Mark Webb said that the whole family parkers parents thing is going to carry on to the sequels so I am confused on why it was only shown on the start.

Also remember to stay for about half the credits because there is a scene there.

DST isn't the only company to produce product with the yellow tinted eyes. The movie studios have to provide images of the costume design to the toy developers months in advance of the release of the movie, so most likely what happened is the studio changed how yellow the eyes were after they already provided designs to the various companies making ASM products. This kind of thing happens a lot.

The eyes in the ASM game are yellow/gold too.

Well that's 2/3 of this summer's superhero films that kicked some ass.

Now I'll say what others said and admit I saw the Nolan/Schumacher comparison. But I'll also say that this film finally got being Spider-Man right. Rami always seemed so focused on Parker that he couldn't quite GET what it meant to be Spider-Man. The Rami fight scenes always seemed far too... static. Spidey didn't move around enough and when he did he moved in a rather... slow fashion. Never showed off how damn fast he really was. I still say I prefer Tobey as Peter, but Andrew Garfield finally brought SPIDER-MAN to the screen. And as important as it is to get Peter right (And this movie clearly was more Ultimate Peter. When he got angry I saw the Ultimate Comics version in that performance) you gotta get the hero right too. And Spider-Man was fantastic.

I have a minor annoyance with it in that it doesn't explain very well how precisely he managed that suit. You see him surfing the web for spandex outfits to use and then next thing you know he's SPIDER-MAN! YEAHHHHH! Well I'm not sure if he modified it himself or if he pieced together multiple suits or what but... whatever. The movie made up for it in the rather menacing Lizard, the badass fight scenes, and Emma Stone. [sigh] Emma Stone... [stares into space]

Sorry. Okay. So yeah I recommend The Amazing Spider-Man. Worth a look. Go for it.

I just got back from seeing it. Enjoyable, but I definitely had a few issues with it.

Things I liked:

- Andrew Garfield is perfectly fine as Peter Parker, though maybe a little too cocky out-of-the-costume.

- The chemistry between Peter & Gwen, much better than the Peter/MJ chemistry of the Raimi movies.

- All of the actors involved, particularly Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, and Denis Leary.

- Home-made web shooters!!!

- The cinematography was great, and the viewer really got more of a feel to swinging around NYC.

- Great Stan Lee cameo, maybe the best one yet! I wish that scene had gone on a little longer though...

- The suit worked fine for me, even with no attempt to explain how he made it.

Things I didn't like:

- Forgettable music score

- The entire mystery subplot with Peter's parents and Oscorp, just unnecessary.

- No J. Jonah Jameson??? C'mon Sony, that was inexcusable! If anything, a small scene with him "naming" Spider-Man was all that was needed, get JK Simmons back.

- No Harry Osborn? I can understand not wanting to have Norman in the first movie, but would it have really hurt the plot to have some reference to Harry?

- Apparently in this movie, nobody grieves for poor old Uncle Ben and they just get on with their lives like nothing happened? No funeral and zero ramifications of his death.

- Lizard design/voice didn't work for me at all, but I did like that they worked his regeneration abilities into the movie.

- The cheesy scene with the cranes moving into position. To top it off, a helicopter flies overhead and puts a spotlight directly on Spider-man, all Spidey needed to do was attach a webline to the helicopter and he could have been flown to Oscorp tower? I get that they wanted to go for the train scene in Spider-Man 2, with the civilians helping Spidey, but it didn't work for me at all in this movie.

- The last line about "Those are the best kind of promises to break." Completely out of character for Peter, and downplayed the entire emotional impact of George Stacy's death. Part 2 should have continued his struggle with distancing himself from Gwen out of respect for her dad.

My hopes for the sequel:

I really hope they use part 2 to further develop the relationship with Gwen, and hold true to her destiny in the final act of part 3, as it could really be an epic scene in film as it was in the comics all those years ago. Goblin needs to come about in part 2, but not become a major player until part 3. I'm hoping the main villain for 2 is another Spidey villain that hasn't appeared in a movie yet, but honestly don't have a clue who they could use other than Green Goblin. I really hope they don't go the route that the ASM videogame took and introduce characters like Rhino as a human/rhino hybrid developed by Oscorp using Connors testing...

Overall, I enjoyed it, but I had a lot of issues that were inexcusable to me, especially because they were things that the Raimi films got right. It almost seems like they went out of the way to distance themselves from the previous movies, to the point that it hurt the flow of this one. I think that as it is, it works as a good palette cleanser for potentially better Spider-Man movies, but at this time Raimi's Spider-Man universe is still MY Spider-Man universe.

Glad its going down well, absolutely loved it. Near enough perfect for me... tone, chemistry, character looks, etc. Spidey is my no.1 superhero, and this really impressed me. Even liked the Lizard, who was my only initial worry.

Stay after the credits, of course... real wtf moment, which I'm sure we'll discuss soon enough.

Got to agree with yb, forgotten most the music already, and didn't care about Pete's parents, or Uncle Martin's death... but did like how Peter developed as a result of the former. This was not a Parker I'm used to, but was perhaps more real and likeable than his comic counterpart even.

Both Osborns have to be a cert for the next film. Would love to have a spoilered chat, but can't seem to get those tags sorted on my phone!

Do Sony have Kingpin on their license? I forget who made Daredevil.

Could certainly be interesting to see how Spider-Man's presence has affected the rest of New York, namely the primt media... and organised crime.

Daredevil's Fox man... Sorry.

Future villains though... Well if they wanna stick with the aminals I think a clear place to go would be The Vulture. Other villains I could see them messing with are Electro, Kraven, and bringing back the Goblin of course (Tis inevitable.)

If they wanna go Ultimate route though... Gotta remember that in the Ultimate comics Carnage killed Gwen Stacey... Food for thought.

Most of the early promotional artwork did show gold or yellow lenses. Alot of the Amazing Spiderman merchandise have this yellow/gold lenses tinting not just mates.

SPOILERS:

I just saw the movie this afternoon and was let down with a couple items:

1. Did Peter just steal a crap load of web fluid for his shooters from Oscorp? Seemed like he had an endless supply and I found it this to be a strange/glaring plot hole and one of the reasons why I always thought the Toby M. Organic Shooters made the most sense. Especially for a movie that played on the gene splicing aspect so damn heavy, organic shooters would have made perfect sense!

2. That better have been Mysterio at the end credits appearing out of thin air and melting into the wall. Cause Norman Osborn is not a ghost or a telepath. Please don't just be a poor camera trick cause Sony still has not casted Norman.

3. WTF, CAP STACEY DYING MEANS NOTHING AT THE END OF THE FILM?

He was hiding behind shadows it was Norman Osborn. It was Michael Masse Playing him and Marc Webb stated that Norman will be in TASM so that has to be him. Plus for quite a while before IMDB said Michael Masse was playing Norman Osborn

Just got home from this film, SIMPLY INCREDIBLE!!!

a few notes:

SPOILERS!!!

for all of you saying organic web shooters made more sense, shuddup, spiders do not shoot web out of their wrists, did lizard grow a tail from his hands? then spiderman doesnt need organic web shooters. The way they explained the shooters was, he got the original webbing from Oscorp, then built the dispensers himself, but i believe at some point he recreated the fluid himself, saying to the criminal "something i invented myself" but maybe he was just fooling around :P

second thing, captain stacy's death had a big impact, it showed Gwen how dangerous Peters life would be from then on, it showed Peter he'd be needed after Lizard, and it showed that he needed to be much more careful with that mask of his :P

ok the only things i did not like in this film:

1. Peter catching gwen perfectly from that fall (im sure the filmmakers did that on purpose)

2. The soundtrack

3. No JJJ, ok not really, since im sure he will be in the next one :P my third beef was that he kept taking his dammed mask off D:

Haven't seen it yet. But Harry, and Gwen for that matter, were not part of Peter's high school experience. They came in with the Romita Sr. college era. In fact, Peter had no friends in high school, but was dating his boss's cute secratary, Betty Brant. Aside from that his private life sucked until graduation, and his making peace with Flash.

UnDead, Certainly we can talk about this film without telling people to shut up, especially since this Thread is designed to specifically talk about your opinions on the new film.

For the record, I thought the movie was good, but had 3 major issues with the film. Did you watch the same movie that I saw?

1. It makes no sense to assume Peter can mimic the Web Formula from his Aunts house. Oscorp had a super Generator of Hundreds of mutant spiders spinning super webbing nonstop that was being "knit" by some giant machine to convert into cartridge. I doubt you could power or even fit that into the entire Parker home. So again, it makes no sense that Parker was able to steal potentially Billions in Military Weapons/Patents without being caught or being in conflict of his character/morals. His uncle did die from a Thief and Parker has never really forgiven himself. What Parker designed was the web shooter itself, not the "Infinite ammo Web Cartridges". Far easier for a movie watcher that saw this new version that centers around Gene Splicing to move to gene splicing than to just assume Parker can build or steal Military Grade weapons. "Oh he made an electronic door lock, and can read his father's files... of couse he can mimic Osbourn's Web Tech."

2. Did you notice how the mystery figure melted/dissapeared into the wall at the end credits? I can accept that MAYBE Norman has the clout to have security let him in to talk to Connors, but again are we watching the same movie? The figure literally melted/disappeared from the cell, not escorted by security, and Norman is referenced 2-3 times as being sick and potentially nearing his death bed. Again, I can only think Mysterio, but might accept Electro because of the thunder/lightening that happens before the figure disappears. My issues are both these characters are not in the Gene Splicing vein of the new movie, and seemed more like a cheap SONY trick. IMDB is not an accurate source, I catch errors non stop on that site. Just look up the game on that site and see the voice casting errors they list.

3. The movie Literally ends with Parker saying " Those are the best promises to break" - This destroys the emotional promise and death of Cap Stacey that occurs literally 9 minutes prior. That's why I undermine this death. The movie doesn't even give you more than 2 mini scenes before Parker decides "Oh Poo Poo on Cap Stacey's Promise"

i meant the "shuddup" as a little more of a tease then a serious accusation, im fine with everyone having their own opinion of the film, i just seriously dont get the affinity to the organic web shooters :P

Ultimate Electro/Spectacular Spider-Man Electro were both the result of genetic tampering. Ultimate Electro on purpose and Spectacular Spider-Man Electro due to an accident with genetically tampered electric eels. (Yes I'm serious. And the show still kicked ass)

If they chose to go that route with the character it would make sense to me. After all, this did have a very Ultimate-y vibe to it. I seriously doubt Norman Osborn would come to Conners' cell himself so sending a lackey like Electro would make sense.

Just saw it this morning and loved it.

Seeing the new film and soaking it all in, I've come away with these thoughts (spoilers may follow):

-tobey's Peter Parker was the lovable loser, garfield's was the science nerd who believably built web shooters.

-Gwen & peters chemistry was genuine thanks to mark webs previous work on 500 days of summer, and Emma stone being well-- Emma stone. I like her in everything.

- the talking lizard was odd. Could've done without it. However, he did look better than what I had thought except for the head which should of had more a snout- course then he would've looked like a t-Rex.

-Dennis Leary looked more and more like willam dafoe as time went on.

-spideys movement was truly amazing this time around- crawling over the massive lizard while they fought, arching his shoulders and knees as he dropped from ledges- really reminded me if all my favorite artists who worked on him over the years: bagley, Larsen, mcfarlene. Even marvel vs. Capcom 2 at times. Tobey was a great spider-man but he didn't move like him. Garfield's slender physique helped push the believability he could do all those acrobatic moves along with showing him skateboarding- something I originally had reservations about before seeing it

- just who was the guy in the cell with conners? Mysterio? Electro? Osborn? His twisted psyche? Time will tell

Thanks for the info on the Ultimate Electro / Electric Eel connection.

Wow, very cool interview. Thank god for the confirmation that SPOILER:

It is 100% NOT Norman Osborne and a "Lacky" or "Henchman" under the employment of Oscorp.

Than my guess on Electro seems to fit the mystery character. I can definitely enjoy and look forward to an Electro Battle in Amazing Spider-man 2! Decent setup and all the clues are there....
