Street Fighter X Tekken is on the way, though! will that get a Wave 4? (and a Con Exclusive 4 pack to round out the cast?!) Let's see how Series 1 and 2 do! 6 seasons and a movie!! I wanted to get more, but I don't know now... And the purple and orange blank minimate underneath MODOK is pretty cool. I'm kind of liking it more than MODOK itself. If not for the paint-issues on X-23/Chun/She-Hulk I would say this wave is the best of the year by far. The new minimates are great and the redos were all needed and much better than the originals. (I was the only one buying them, so they were sitting on the rest of the case after I got my set). So I told them if they didn't want carry them I would get them online. My LCS stopped carrying them long ago and my tru is choked with many Minimates warming the pegs. For some reason when a case comes in and I buy the ones I want 2 more cases come in the next week and they sit there forever. I have asked why this is because nearly everyone that works there knows I am nearly the only one buying them but they say they have no control over what comes in so whatcha gonna do? Heroic Slacker Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 My hometown was like that, most TRU exclusives were very easy to get, when they came in, the comic shop I went to is a town away and were the only comic shop in about a 40 mile radius that carried 'Mates. The last couple times I've come home the TRU exclusives are completely gone while the rest of the waves sit on the pegs, and from what I've heard several of the comic shops are now carrying 'Mates. So I'm pretty glad that someone in town is buying them besides me. Can someone take a picture of the Blank under MODOK? I might want to buy a double when I see them. hellpop Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 The comic shop I *USED* to shop at was like that, and stopped carrying 'mates; of course, the owner didn't have the decency to tell me that he wasn't going to be carrying them any more, even though he knew that I was his store's primary Minimate buyer. No, he waited until I came in one day for the new wave, which he hadn't ordered, and waved me away with a "oh, yeah, I stopped ordering them because they weren't selling through as well". Okay, fine. So I went ahead and preordered the next wave (this would have been the Iron Man comics wave, with Stilt-Man) from Luke. A few weeks after that wave comes out, I go into the shop, and it turns out he HAD ordered that wave-- and hadn't sold a set. So I bought the variant. I've since moved, and I now have 3-4 stores in a short drive that stock 'mates, though it seems rather arbitrary. I think I might be the most hardcore collector around here; I've been able to still find the variant several days-sometimes weeks- after release. But they seem to sell through at a decent clip. Getting back on topic... has anyone else had trouble finding MvC 'mates at their shop? It seems to me that some stores in my area that regularly stock Marvel 'mates passed on these. Shanester Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Hey Freakquilzer, I am originally from Louisiville. The TRU on Shelbyville Road usually gets a lot of minimates, but they tend to go fast. K80, I don't frequent the couple of comic shops here because its always the same stuff with the same high prices or they are just not competetive with online retailers. However, one of them just started reselling used TPBs and HCs for 1/2 the retail (instead of 100% they charged before) and this drew me back. Their mini sets are now about the same price as most online retailers, so I usually buy the harder to find sets only. If I can ever help you find something, let me know. I could almost always find things cheaper online when they were opened. We've still got one in town, but they aren't very good. I kind of dug the comic shop that was uptown near Tulane. I also liked that one near Lakeside Mall. Even though it really wasn't, it seemed bigger because they had an upstairs area you could visit.
