maxcarnage
so McDrug contacted me today and was interested in trading some of my special forces Kubrick (see below) but was wondering if the gas masks could be used on minimates. I told him that they would not fit BUT i thought they might be customized in some way to fit? now i am not that crafty, and me customizing skill ends at put Baltair's head on Picard's body and calling it Riker, so i was asking if anyone of you has attempted such and feet and if so to what ends? karamazov80
I haven't tried to use a Kubrick gas mask, but I did take one from a cheap-o GI Joe KO from Big Lots (it was just the mask, stuck to and hanging off of his belt) and made a Minimate gas-mask head out of it. It is actually on my Hunt-mate: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.ph...ost&p=78795 I just super-glued it on. If you were to cut the front and top parts of the mask off, then wrap them around and superglue them to a Minimate head, it might work similarly. Otherwise, you could probably wrap some kind of tape around a Minimate's head, making it thicker so that the gas-mask would fit tighter. However, it would still look a little disproportionately big that way (even for a Minimate head!).
McDurg
Thanks for making the topic, Max. Aren't Kubricks smaller than Minimates? I've never held/seen one in real life, so I'm clueless about them. I'll probably try that tape trick if the masks are a bit big. Most likely, I'll still be interested. But exactly how big/small are Kubricks compared to mates? karamazov80
Kubricks are slightly larger than Minimates. BHM and mattalicca took a number of Marvel comparison pics here to give you an idea. Edited August 22, 2008 by karamazov80
McDurg
Thanks for the link, Kar. My God, some of those look awful! Some might look better than their Mate counterpart, but others look simply awful. Especially that Wolverine/Batman supporting breasts, and what is with those blimp/lollipop heads? I think I'm ore into the ones that Max has, they don't look anything like the others do(The heads/parts). The heads do look a bit larger, but not by that much(I'm mostly talking about the ones with the mate-shaped heads, and I'm not talking about the the knock offs.), I think using the gasmask might be possible. Think you could take a picture of the gasmask next to a mate, Max? Well, at least I have an idea of what to expect.

karamazov80
Though this is off-topic, some Kubricks look great, while others look like ass, and there is much variation there. I was put off initially by Kubricks because I saw pics like those in the thread I linked, and thought they looked like garbage for the most part. But, sometimes they are able to tap into the basic, iconic look of characters very well. . .and at other times they simply provide a nice, simple but well-detailed, quality mini-figure from a license that DST just doesn't have (Star Wars, Disney, Metal Gear, etc.). This is one of my personal favorites: http://cgi.ebay.com/Medicom-Kubrick-Metal-...Q2em118Q2el1247 Edited August 22, 2008 by karamazov80

That is what first drew to kubricks, and one of the reasons i love minimates. that and they are so small i can fold them up and take them with me! buttheadsmate
Yep I should be talking Gas-masks but we seem to have strayed. Kubricks are 'different' to Minimates ,they share the trait of articulate & block-figure....they are not to be compared . The gas-masks are not compat..I...ble unless your 'Mate has big gas.
