Here's a question for all you James Bond fans.... If DST should someday score the license to do James Bond minimates, what format would you like to see the series sold in?

Let's say that every movie would be a series (Goldfinger for example). Would you like to buy this series as a 4 pack like the BTTF and FAFDM?

Here's an example: James Bond; Goldfinger 4 pack

James Bond (grey suit)

Pussy Galore

Auric Goldfinger

Oddjob

or.....

Would you rather buy 2 pack series like Marvel or BSG including a variant minimate which is a trademark of DST.

Here's an example: James Bond; Goldfinger series

James Bond (grey suit) & Pussy Galore

Auric Goldfinger & Oddjob

James Bond (black outfit) and Tilly Masterson

James Bond (black outfit) and Jill Masterson (variant)

I say boxed set. Works out cheaper (I think anyway). Plus stops unneccessary characters being added. You know the 4 you get are gonna be worth while.

I say 4 pack, one wave per film is too much.( if they REALLY need to do more then they could add a two pack like the other licenses BttF 24 etc.)

4 pack will also cut down on the number of Bonds... One per pack is plenty(O'toole). your suggested wave has two and with 20+ movies that's a lot of Bonds.

This potential Minimate line has been talked about before & to be honest I wasn't that excited ,despite the fact that I saw it when it was first released in 1964 (I was 9  ) & it's still my favourite film!

Having seen the Goldfinger line-up , I'm convinced,awesome........ boxed set.

However .....a naked ,gold-painted Shirley Eaton Minimate Variant just begs to be made......& Pussy Galore :P

aye, 4-pack... it's much much easier to get a single box set than it is to track down individual two-packs...

and to be honest, i'm sick to DEATH of variant-chase-rare-bull****. If they just stopped doing that entirely, i would be a happy happy collector.

Shocking!

Any spelling mistakes (pisstakes?) are purely down to bad typing on my part & I'm just too lazy to go back and correct them ( but will in this case to make you happy :) )

T.

p.s. Having lived there/here/there/here my threshold for US/UK spelling is a mess and I've been known to put both into the same sentence!

Wasn't there an awesome Bond Villian who was gigantic and had a surgically enhanced metal jaw and bit guns apart? Yeah, I need him as a minimate for the 4 pack.

Yeah I'd say that would be Jaws... who was in The Spy who loved me and Moonraker.

His would be something along the lines of...

The spy who loved me.

James Bond (ski suit) - Roger Moore. ( We'd get a Tux version elsewhere.)

Karl Stromberg

Anya Amasova (Agent xxx, Barbara  Bach)

Jaws.

That was fun I think a little later when I get time I'll do lists for all the Bond movies ;)

It seems the formula of a 4 pack works perfectly: Bond, villain, Bond Girl, Henchman.

Eugh I hope not! Daniel Craig is a great actor, but he is not Bond. And Casino Royale will NEVER be a Bond film in my eyes. NOT EVER! I've had tons of people try to convince me otherwise, but it just isn't.

I wouldn't saw one boxed set per film, they'd be too many then, but do the popular ones.

You're crazy. It was the best one. Seriously. Has anyone ever read Fleming's novels? Well, they are not giant lazer guns or Goldfinger tortures. They are what Casino Royale was: start off normal, blow crap up, kill bad guy, get some. The End

I've read a bunch of Flemmings Bond books & here's my view of the movie bonds (or soon to be known as TBT derails another thread :P )

Connery: The first couple of movies oozed a lot of the same atmosphere as the books but as time went on they strayed further from the books. In my mind when someone says James Bond my first thought is always Connery.

(I decline to comment on Lazenby because I really can't remember the one film he did... which probably speaks volumes in itself)

Moore: A victim of the series success. Especially towards the end where he was a joke, the gadgets and bad puns completely smothered what Bond should have been.

Dalton: Was misunderstood in his attempts to humanize/brutalise bond (before anyone was ready). Perhaps too old for the role but given better stories to work with could have been more than a solid stop gap between Moore and Brosnan.

Brosnan: Was a bit of an everymans Bond, taking the bits of everyone who'd been before him and despite initially wanting (and failing) to hate him I think of him as a pretty good Bond ( Until, like Moore the gadgets and sillyness spoilt things. ).

Daniel: So far I feel a bit bittersweet about his Bond.

Positives: He goes back to basics & is the rough around the edges gritty bond that occasionally makes mistakes from the books & Casino Royale is a great movie

Negatives:He just doesn't feel like Bond to me, he's missing something I cant put my finger on perhaps another couple of films will help that feeling settle.

Great set but I'd swap out Kananga for Baron Samadi though, you have to have Baron Samadi... Come on he was really creepy!!

Okay. Let's put Baron Samedi in a Previews exclusive 2-pack. This way we still have Kananga as the main villain in the 4 pack. Deal?

Live And Let Die Previews exclusive

Baron Samedi and Rosie Carver

I'm a bit torn. While I love the convenience and price of boxsets, I sometimes feel the "4-pack formula" is a bit limiting. Quite a few films have a greater number of important characters than a four-slot format can effectively represent. However, were something like "Bond" attempted as a series, I think that it would become too complicated as well as divide collectors (much like Star Trek. We all have our own personal favorites) despite the fact that it would allow for more characters and/or costume variations. I guess my ideal personal preference would be boxset (Bond, Bond-chick, Villan, Henchman) with a possibility of a fifth or sixth character to accomodate a costume variation or supporting character(s). However, if exclusives were feasible (like BTTF and 24), then 4-packs could work. Afterall, Bond is fashionable-man that comes dressed for every occassion not to mention that we'd need to have a venue for Q and Moneypenny!

On a side-note, I'm shocked that DST isn't aggressively pursuing this particular license. There's really never been anything "figure related" (besides static, lead miniatures and die-cast vehicles) for any of these time-proven classics after all these years. Despite Chuck's admission that he's a big fan, they "have no plans" at the moment. It just seems to me (and apparently alot of others!) of all of the MGM titles, that this would be a natural choice above all others. Regardless of varying tastes, who doesn't love a good Bond film?
