You'd think this Geppi guy was the Stan Lee of Minimates.

Agreed.  My focus is promotional and pre-production stuff.  I will track what I want down, as I always do.

I don't know who this guy is. I don't want a minimate of him. The accessories are kinda cool, but I wont lose sleep over them.

If a Zach minimate became available, and was in small numbers and not commercially available, I'd chase it because the guy is a part of our community and it would be a fun little toy that had significance and meaning to the addicts here.
Still - I would wait it out and try and find it for a good price on eBay. Gold Vorin was going for for over $80.00 a pop just after it as released. I just saw the same figure go for $36 in a lot that ALSO included two grey Vorins, the SDCC 2-pack with Zik, translucent red and blue Vorins and a comic book.

Those who want this will find it and they will pay what it is worth to them. Someone's gonna pay $100.00 for it. Someone else is gonna pay $25.00. meh.

In the weeks before SDCC2017  there had been much speculation & anticipation on this forum about what we might or might not see there . As SDCC2017 unfolded the general snippets of information also began to drip-feed down to us down here . US Ebay is my regular port of call each morning from the UK so on the morning of the 21st July I became aware of 3 ( or is 4 or 5;)) new MVinimate items that I ,personally, was completely unaware of .

What was news to me was surely going to be news here.

I started the thread ...giving direct links to what I had seen on ebay ...& gave it a title that I thought reflected how I felt ............that there is another 'world' of Minimates ...one which I am not part of &..... if I'm honest..... one that I do not wish to be part of.              I just buy Minimates.

That was it . No nastiness, no spite, no chip on shoulder , no envy ,no radically socialist ideals .  That was it .

As the 21st July progressed I spent some time researching Mr.Geppi ,coming to a rational conclusion that the bloke running Diamond ought to be indulged ,God bless Geppi !

I am not being sarcastic .

If I get at least two people who can understand my post then I'll continue with how things have panned out since.

I get this post!

Or maybe I don't: In case there was a misunderstanding, the fan whose response has made me sad is not BHM, who only posted a couple of links. The sad interaction had not taken place on a public thread.

The retailer party promos could be seen as another world, I suppose, but I am certainly sorry that the Donatello was not promoted in advance.

I've noticed that ebay.com has become almost flooded with Geppimates since this years C2E2 .

Once heralded as the "rarest minimate ever" it seems that ....surprise surprise...... it ain't ......& if you look hard enough on eBay.com & you'll be able to indulge yourself with a 'Geppi' signed version !!! -_-

From my own point of view I will cherish the Geppimate that 'anon' sent me after last year's SDCC .......a wonderful gesture .

These sort of promos are kind of shitty for the serious fan base that collect everything because they love the brand. You could argue that if a die hard fan couldn't get these sort of things they may turn around and not bother with the line all together, which would be a very sad outcome.

I weirdly heard this post in my head when I was watching the Tous That Made Us about StarTrek. I’m still salty about the 1701 line and that minimates didn’t get a shout out in the doc. I’ve always loved the Star Trek mates I just wish it was more TNG since that’s my Trek.

One of the common themes in that Trek documentary was NOT LISTENING TO THE FANS. Trek fans in particular are a tough crowd that practically invented nitpicking pop culture. That 1701 line was certainly a fiasco and alienated many collectors. So did the first few convention exclusives.

These weren't just errors in hindsight. They could have been prevented had they just LISTENED TO THE FANS.

Was it heralded here? It is not particularly rare, and I assume it will continue to get less rare, as the remaining inventory is distributed through personal channels. (Not mine.) I imagine some of the Diamond staff sold theirs, and some of the Geppi party attendees at SDCC, which I did not organize, did as well.

I still need Geppi-Mate.  Were they sold or given out at C2E2?

They were given out at the DST party at SDCC 2017 and at the home office to staff. I had not heard of a C2E2 distribution, but I think Steve might have been there, and maybe he brought some. If I had a Zach MM, I would bring some everywhere and throw them into crowds.

Action Figure Insider heralded 'it' as the rarest minimate ever....... not here:thumbsup:

If anyone is really interested (?) there are two versions of the packaged contents of the Geppimate & one is absolutely predominant* on ebay.

If I had a Zach MM thrown at me I'd throw it back   only kidding

Yeah, those helmet straps really look like sideburns. Not based on me, though.

Now, this one...

The home office Geppi was a limited production run. Many more were made, I believe, to give out at the party and elsewhere. Not sure which is which, but sounds like BHM knows...

The Geppimate is packaged with 2 micromates & various catalogues ......it would appear (from what I have seen on ebay.com) that the rarer package contains different coloured versions of these accessories. Zach calls these the 'home office Geppi' ..........' a Baltimore home run' perhaps ?

When more were made for alternate distribution, the micro colors were changed. I honestly forget which is more common, or even which color went where.

Whatever the rarer one is, it was the one given to employees, I believe. They seem less likely to part with them.
