Some see this board as 99+% full of mutual respect and tolerance, some see that .something% that is unnecessary behavior that seems unprofessional, disrespectful and verging on bullying. I'm all for giving someone a hard time (obviously), especially when they set themselves up for it, but when it becomes clear that someone is taking it personally it seems the respectful thing to do is to back off. Even if the person keeps coming back despite the abuse. Well, at least that's what I think a pessimist that never comes around here often might see.
