Bob Harris
This sounds pretty amazing: Sandboxr. You'll be able to customize a figure online and they'll make a 3" tall 3D printed version of it. The stuff the show as examples look pretty amazing. 3D printing is still a wonder in my eyes.
karamazov80
No doubt in my mind that 3-D printing is the wave of the future. I need to find a way to invest all my money in the industry as a whole.
AdyCarter
I recently got a case for my phone (I say case, but its a rear shell) 3D printed and Im remarkably impressed by it. I'd say its gonna be the future of many things
UK Collector
Anybody else been following the Veronica Mars movie funded through Kickstarter? A great little show, so I'm excited about this, and what it could mean for other properties that studios don't see fit to fund themselves: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/559914737/the-veronica-mars-movie-project Arrested Development probably could have been funded this way had it not been approved through other channels. As, perhaps, could have Firefly years back. I've only ever seen a couple of Veronica Mars episodes, so don't really have an interest in the movie, despite KB being a cutey (nods to Hellpop) but the fact that this has happened is amazing. It's great to think that people may start getting a bigger say in what they want. Like you say, Firefly would have been a prime example for the studio to say 'put your money where your mouth is, you want it, then show us how much.' Once I saw motorcycle wheels being digitally designed and cut out of blanks, I knew things had changed. Digital sculpts are cool, but I like the tiny irregularities of hand sculpting, yet it really works best on some things.

Is Kickstarter turning from a way for independent artists to fund small projects into a way for large corporations to make a lot of money without having to take any initial risk on development? Oh, wait, I forgot, everything turns into a way for large corporations to make a lot of money.
hellpop
I read an interview with Rob Thomas in which he claims that this isn't the case of a big studio exploiting Kickstarter, but that the movie wouldn't get made any other way. I guess the way to look at it is to think of it as an indie project that happens to be about a property that's owned by a megacorporation. Shogi
I just found out my brother in law and his friend have a Kickstarter going right now (about 8 days left) http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brush4hire/brush-4-hire-barricades-and-bunkers It's for Warhammer, but he told me that the doors are about 2" tall and each floor level is 3" in height. I believe the square barrier is about 1 1/2" tall. Looks like it could work pretty well with Halo minimates. I'm sure some BTTF 3 or Eastwood mates would look good with the Western Buildings too. dr baghead
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fourhorsemen/gothitropolis-raven-action-figure-by-four-horsemen It’s finally here: RAVEN KICKSTARTER!!!! I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but Minotaur the Duck’s head sculpt is based on a drawing my fiancee did... so everyone bid a crapton of money on these so she can live the dreaming of owning a 3D version of her art sculpted by the greatest sculptors currently alive. dr baghead
do YOU like awesome videogames?!If you said yes, how would you like to give money to not one, but TWO amazing new games?! First, one that’s already funded but worth a look if you LOVE Megaman:Mighty No. 9!!!http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9 Made by an All-Star team of Megaman alumni this is the Megaman game Capcom will never produce (because they keep canceling the teams attempts to make it.) a pledge of $20 gets you the game (for PC/Mac/current gen consoles, PS4/XBone are stretch goals)Next, for those who love Indie studios doing their own things:Shantae Half-Genie Hero!!! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1236620800/shantae-half-genie-hero Not funded yet but probably will be soon this game by Wayforward (the master animators behind “Batman: the Brave and the Bold” and “Ducktales Remastered” sprites) is the first HD game in the Shantae series (there are three sprite based games in the series, the first was on the GB Color, the second is on DSi and iOS, and the third will be released to 3DS later this year) which if you haven’t played is a cute platform with elements of Metroid and Zelda splashed within... try the iOS version which is $2 and see why giving them $15 for a copy of the game on any number of different consoles is a great deal. So there you go! TWO great games you could be playing next year if you’re willing to help fund them now!

hellpop
That's a really good idea, Undeadpool. I wish you luck. Once we get through our next pay cycle (tip to all Kickstarters: wait at least a month after April 15 to start!) I'll make a contribution. One place you should definintely look to talk to once you're up and running is your local library(ies). I can see them being very interested in arranging to have you stop by. youbastards
Thanks, Timbo. I just emailed my State Attorney General with this information. If Washington's AG is willing to act on a project that raised $25K, then hopefully one that raised over $100K will interest my AG as well. karamazov80
There seem to be some pretty significant differences there, though, in that in the cited case the person soliciting Kickstarter money had no contact in over a year, and didn't deliver anything apparently. It seems that this is not the case with Agent 88, despite the fact that they haven't fully delivered on all promises. But, good luck with it anyway.
