This comes off more as minimates are done at Walgreens and being dropped during a reset later this yr.

It does feel that way. It can't be good news if Walgreens isn't interested in minimates from the most anticipated Marvel movie ever.

Given how old some of the animated minimates at my local Walgreens are they linger MUCH worse than movie stuff. Whatever the regional differences are the movie waves certainly aren't awful on that score overall, a quick look online suggests it's not exactly easy to complete your movie minimate collection if you didn't buy them when they came out. I'd also be curious what the difference in production numbers is too.

I do think Red Guardian is likely eventually - he's managed to have both Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe figures made already...

That's true, but it's mostly because he's a Cap repaint with a new head and they were looking for characters to throw in a Captain America themed wave. I'd buy one (even the female version that I don't really care about), I just don't think I can call it likely.

  3. When it comes to outdated minimates where there aren't any other good versions available I don't think the Abomination has much competition. I could definitely go for the Leader, the animated one does not work at all for me.

I think a lot of Avengers could use updates, we barely have any full teams without using outdated minimates. Classic Vision and 90's Wonder Man would be the top of the list for me. U.S. Agent and Hercules are also pretty high. I'd love to see 90's Modular Armor Iron Man updated with new paint and some add-ons. I'm sure I could come up with more if my Avengers display wasn't packed away.

  4. Collectors say they want vehicles much more than they tend to buy vehicles when they're available so I really can't fault DST for not pursuing it (as far as we know). Outside of Ghost Rider it's not much of a loss and I don't think Chuck likes the character that much anyway.

  5. I'd be curious how much that is the case. It's obviously not an issue for Hasbro and DST certainly hasn't had a problem releasing movie and comic product close together for Spider-Man or the X-Men.

I'm very surprised we've never gotten any comic Guardians. All the space stuff has basically been completely overlooked, and even big events with lots of characters like Annihilation and Infinity Wars have not been utilized. We've gotten what, four Star-Lords? But none are comics-based. So I definitely agree that getting some cosmic Marvel love is long overdue.

It makes sense when you take into account DST's weird belief that making movie or animated versions covers the demand for comic versions. It's hit the Avengers over the past few years too. For a relatively small company it sometimes surprises me how little they seem to understand collectors.

If its cosmic wave, will we finally get the conquest/ first appearance guardians of the galaxy(2008)?! And like previous posts, you can even include cosmic the rider in since he was part of the guardians at some point in time!

What makes me sad is that the team would be relatively easy to do.

I think the general idea may have been to release both Bishop (Clean) and Ferro with the dropship.

It makes sense to me as both piloted one.

Maybe the demise of Toys R Us curtailed that ?.

If that was the plan then they basically planned not to release those two figures because the dropship was always a longshot.

  8. Outside of a new title on the box, what would the movie really give us anyway? We've had the main characters multiple times in both comic and animated formats. I know there are some costume differences but I don't see much appealing there, I'm not really in the market for a fat loser Spider-Man.

On the other hand at least Far From Home would have had at minimum a boxset worth of figures that gave us something a bit fresh.

  9. It's not unusual for minimates at an event to be put together slightly incorrectly so it's possible Guido's chest block is further down than it should be anyway.

Too bad Wolfsbane doesn't have Wolf Man hands and feet. I guess that's in keeping with the other Marvel wolf and cat people.

  10. One of the things that's kept me interested in minimates over the years it the possibility of getting stuff that doesn't fit into other lines, like scene-specific minimates and unmasked or depowered looks. Iceman is a perfect example of this, unfortunately the only version of Bobby they've made like this is probably the least popular one they could pick.

You guys must be great at parties.

Almost as much fun as posting wish lists in the wish list thread.

Yes, all Marvel product has to be approved by Marvel Licensing. But Marvel doesn’t have the rights to Stan Lee. His estate does.

Ironically, a Minimate offering wouldn’t have anything to do with Marvel. No Marvel logos, characters, or trade dress. It’d just be a Stan Lee Minimate.

I think most people have something like the ML Stan Lee in mind, or the recently canceled BAF, or of course the MCU appearances. But obviously there's been lots of Stan Lee product that wasn't related to Marvel, like Standor or all of those Pops.

If DST was interested in this (and I doubt they are) it unfortunately seems a little late now that Stan is gone. A few years ago was the perfect time, now it might come across like trying to cash in.

The last Madrox didn’t have a BaF part or any alternate heads, so I don’t see how it’d be guaranteed.

It does seem like it’ll be a pain to build up an army of Multiple Men, though. His pack will sell out long before the other three, so either it’ll be rare or the other three will be discounted. Or both.

The last Madrox was released nine years ago, at that time we weren't even getting stands with minimates. DST upped their game with accessories since then which I think is a large part of the reason there's still a line to collect.

It was a pain to army build last time even with two in the wave. I'm not sure how much of a difference the Angel debacle made there.
