This’ll definitely be another series where I buy 2 custom cases. When DST puts this kinda stuff out i wanna support it as much as possible. The only did (for me) is Miles. I know folks like him and while I do, I would’ve much preferred a classic Beetle, Shocker, Boomerang, Jackal or Tombstone. Ah well. This is still such a great line-up even with the one I don’t want thrown in.

Did anyone want that particular Miles? I don't think even big fans of the character were clamoring for that look.

@DSTZach said awhile ago there was 50 marvel minimates this yr and gave the breakdown. That means no SDCC, no other box sets and nothing from Walgreens but this wave and animated 10 for the entire year.

DST has statues to make and now has a piece of Star Wars, minimates are now small potatoes.

I remember reading the comment about the count before but it's really striking once you realize how it's actually playing out. I think the Avengers aren't the only ones in the endgame now.

To be fair, Marvel Legends also got the color of the Team Suits wrong. Must have gotten old reference material.

I suspect that's right. It's too bad, these already feel like less important alternate looks (even if they end up being the main look in the movie), not being accurate makes them even less desirable.

    Enlighten me.

My take? There aren't that many serious minimate collectors, or at least not enough to make a boxset with a run of 3000 a sales success, even a boxset that many of us felt personally invested in and bought multiples of. If we can't make a desirable Marvel set like that a safe bet what hope do other properties have? While I think DST has made many blunders over the years in character selection across various properties the harsh truth is that when they say they don't think the demand is there for something they're almost certainly right.

Also, I can't count how many times I've seen someone post a crazy wishlist who would also complain about having to buy a character they don't like to get one they do in a two-pack. Plenty of us talk a big game about how much they care about a line but don't back it up with our wallets, which I suppose kind of goes back to that first point.

I’m not sure if I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed but does it matter when DST shows the Walgreens wave considering we won’t have access to it?

We do need those weeks of criticizing the lineup.

I don't want to say that we're lucky we're still getting Minimates at all, but....I don't know how else to finish that sentence.

I think that's more true than most of us would like to admit. The line certainly doesn't seem healthy.

  6. I've built a number of Halo, TMNT, and Star Trek sets and I'd say that while MB's quality isn't quite there with Lego it's close enough that it's hard to imagine anyone but a Lego loyalist complaining about it. I do agree about the building experience, since the parts aren't sorted out in a way that's related to the build you really need to do some sorting ahead of time to minimize frustration. That's one of the reasons (the other is space) I've never got around to putting together the Technodrome.

I see Mega Bloks Star Trek at Walmart.

If you do you see a Kirk or a Spock it's part of a minifigure that is made up of mixed properties and it's from a wave that has been sitting there for over a year. The MB Star Trek line died from lack of sales, just like the minimates. The idea that it would just take listening to "fans" to be successful is nothing but hubris.

  8. All these people that say they no problem with movie minimates sure seem quick to jump in and say a comic version is good enough for them.

I was going to post something about Toyark saying DST had showed off a statue from FFH but looking closer I'm pretty sure they just confused Noir for the movie's stealth suit.

  9. I would definitely want an official release of Sersi, preferably with a jacket available. I doubt the fact that there's an relatively easy custom out there that some people find satisfying would have much bearing on DST's decision to make her or not, that's all up to their apparent reluctance to make Avengers that aren't MCU-related.

Can't say Iron Man space armor is particularly exciting, the one from OGS was just the Neo-Classic armor with a bit of a backpack and no mouth on his helmet.

The helmet is a unique shape so it is distinct from the Neo-Classic Armor. I'm not arguing it's needed or that I find it critical to my collection but it is a distinct look for a main Avenger which DST usually finds appealing.

I don't know that anyone thinks it's likely that DST would use the storyline, it's just useful fodder for conversation that's a little more relevant with Captain Marvel's release. And speaking for myself it has a bunch of characters and looks that I'd love to get.

  11. I read Operation: Galactic Storm a few weeks ago and thought it would make a great theme for a wave, I think someone brought it up in the wave 78 thread too. It would have been better as a pseudo tie-in to Captain Marvel but it would still be fun since it's got something for nearly everyone:

Avengers (Both East and West Coast varieties, also a new Iron Man armor)

    Quasar

Starjammers (including Carol Danvers in her Binary phase)

    Shi'ar Imperial Guard

    Kree Starforce

Other Kree (Korath, Ronan, Att-Lass, Minn-Erva, the Supreme Intelligence)

    Other Shi'ar (Lilandra, Deathbird)

    Skrulls

    And, of course, Rick Jones.

  12. I don't care for the way bulked-up upper arms look on an otherwise normal figure. I don't think there's a regular humanoid character that can't be adequately represented with either the standard body or a bulked-up one.

I think there are a few places that chest piece can work, it's certainly not worse than the one their using now, but Hercules was not a good character to use it on. He would have been much better if the sash was a separate piece on a normal body.

  13. Saw it last night, mediocre movie full of missed opportunities. DST didn't miss many opportunities with their character selection though. I could use an extra Skrull or two and the bomber jacket Captain Marvel is a waste of a slot (one ML did too so Marvel might have pushed that look), a powered-up version would have made a lot more sense and been a more impressive minimate. Otherwise I don't see anything they skipped that I'd want more than what was made. Not having energy blasts with Captain Marvel seems like a bigger omission now since laser hands were basically her thing.

  14. I was just thinking how one thing I've appreciated about ML lately is how the line consistently cycles through themes so over the course of the year nearly everyone is going to get something they want. It's not Spider-Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Spider-Man. Whatever the exact theme is it would be nice if DST emulated this approach.
