  1. I had wondered about swapping those exact parts on Cyclops, thanks for sharing.
  2. It's too bad a pretty decent set of minimates is going to end up being so notable for what's not there. No unmasked head for Ghost is surprising. I can handle no micromates since those are so hard to display anyway, I'm really going to feel the absence of a shrunken lab. I would have loved a Hot Wheels rally case too.

I thought about Prowler too but if the Toyfare exclusive clue points to Molten Man he would seem to have the villain turned ally slot locked down.
  4. Yes, though all my knowledge comes from quick internet searches because I was curious about the character.
  5. That would have been a great place for Kate Bishop. I guess she'll just need to be made in a pack with Hawkeye and Pizza Dog. Iron Spider apparently fought Miles instead of Peter which could account for you missing him.
  6. I bought an extra Spot with the intention of doing similar things. It's hard for me to destroy a minimate so I think I'll see what the community comes up with before cutting one up.
  7. Tony would definitely have stood out more that way. The issue I find with the stands is that it stresses the plastic at the edge of the feet, if the feet aren't made from white plastic you can often see stress marks. I'd prefer the figure to stay on the stand without being damaged.
  8. I found out the reason the feet for these figures don't fit well on the pegs for the stands is each hole has four projections sculpted into it, almost like cross hairs. It's not even a millimeter but it's enough to be a problem. I can't imagine why this was done, it's consistent over multiple figures so it doesn't seem to be a manufacturing error.
  9. As I was playing around with Spot I discovered the peg in the stands is the same diameter as the hole in the chest block so the upper half of the figure plugs snugly onto a stand. That should increase the amount of display options, especially if you used something to attach the stand to another surface.
  10. Delivered, I guess I live close to the distribution center. A few thoughts after having them in hand: "Sinister Six" The Spot: Spot is the highlight of the wave for me. He has four black stands, two of the standard size and two of the smaller size we used to get. He also has the black discs you saw in Zach's pictures, which are just a little wide for his hands, and an extra head. Until MrClean mentioned a Puck hand I would have said there wasn't really anything else to include. Still, I think this is an excellent minimate and I find it very satisfying to see a minor character done so well. "Sinister Six" Iron Spider: If you have the previous red version you're already familiar with this minimate. One of spider arms had some extra plastic around the peg that I needed to trim off to make it fit. He comes with a clear stand and a jump stand. I like getting a new villain but this figure really feels like it could benefit from an unmasked head and the updated symbol that appeared in some books, as is it feels like a simple rehash. That said, it will still look good in a Spider-Man villains display. Holographic Iron Man: Another very familiar minimate. The metallic paint looks nice. This would make a good standard Iron Man as long as you don't mind a lit-up repulsor chest on a classic armor. The Stark face tampo is good but the plastic is a little dark for it to be easy to see. No accessories besides a flight stand. Madame Masque: My second favorite figure from the wave, though that's mostly because I'm glad to have another new villain. The white paint is thick enough to keep any blue from showing through but the edges of the gloves and boots are a bit fuzzy on my figure. The holster was upside down. I know we've seen the pistol before though I can't remember where, in gold it seems like a good fit for the character. The mask tampo is excellent. Marvel NOW! Rogue: It makes me chuckle to see NOW! branding on anything. I don't have any particular attachment to this costume but the minimate seems to be an excellent representation of it. Having hood up and down options is nice, unfortunately the brown hair on the hooded piece is painted horribly on mine, it's so bad I would need to try to touch it up before I'd consider displaying it. Rogue comes with a flight stand. Marvel NOW! Cyclops: I hate what Marvel has done with Cyclops so I'm no fan of this costume, that aside I think DST has done a good job with it. I thought using red for details was an odd choice but it does appear consistent with the comic art. The same goes for the mask as a tampo instead of a slipover, while not being a fan I'd say it is a decision that can be defended based on the art. An optic blast would make Cyclops better, that obviously wasn't in the budget. He'll look good hanging out with his terrorist buddy Magneto. Besides Spot's two small stand all of the other stand had pegs that were very large for the foot holes of the minimates. After not having that problem for a few waves it's disappointing to see it return. As I said before, the wave feels light on accessories though not so much that it's a problem. Despite those issues I'm happy with the wave. Also, great job by DST and Walgreens at getting these out and having them ready when the announcement was made. I had my minimates in slightly more than 24 hours with free shipping, that's better than Amazon. While part of that is proximity to their shipping location the order was processed and out the door very quickly.
  11. That would have been cool. I expect people will find lots of interesting ways to pose Spot. The wave does seem light on accessories, like a BAF wave without the BAF.
  12. I was just doing some checking and see one image of Iron Spider that matches the minimate and a few others with four arms and a different spider symbol. Can anyone who was reading the books say which is more correct? Also, my order is marked as shipped already which is impressively quick.
  13. I third the support for Iron Fist. I've also found a few people who hadn't watched other Marvel Netflix found the show easy to pick up. Anyway, it would be nice to get more Netflix minimates but I have to admit I'd be pretty shocked if any were announced.

    WAVE 76

It's almost like it should have its own thread. After flipping through my copy of Maximum Carnage I think Shriek would have benefited from some kind of sonic blast accessory. Demogoblin is a little disappointing after looking more closely at the art, he really needed new sculpted parts to accurately depict the hood and cloak. I'm okay with what we have but it's definitely a compromise. I think we can also see that the BAF comes at the price of some accessories because things like unmasked heads for Carnage and Venom would be more than justified by appearances in the story.

Yes, Nightwatch is definitely Spawn. And if Sony is thinking about putting him in a movie those suits are doing a lot of drugs even by Hollywood standards. The symbiote suit was drawn with those weird eyes in it's last appearance. I can't imagine why someone thought that was a good idea, why would you mess with a perfect costume?

If that's the excuse we need to get Deathlok I'd take it. Eight classic one modern means we're definitely not getting both Boomerang and Shocker in current costumes, if at all. I'm guessing Boomerang is out.
  17. I think I've had enough with five films, especially since there's only one good one.

While I look the classic suit better I would expect the next Shocker minimate to be the modern look. Bonus points if it came with an extra belt with the Thunderbolts logo. Sames goes for Boomerang.

Thoughts after having these in hand: Spider-Man: The eyes are centered and almost opaque enough to not see the webs behind them so I'm satisfied on that front. The thwip hands are great to finally have and the sonic blaster is a nice story-specific accessory. This is my favorite comic Spidey in quite a while. Black Cat: I'm impressed that the chest tampo is thick enough that it doesn't look gray because of the black plastic underneath. This is often a problem so good job by DST. Venom: Characters with the build of an early 90's Venom are hard to translate to a minimate with the parts available. This isn't an example of a good solution. At least we have many others Venoms to choose from. Doppelganger: The eyes and mouth on my minimate are printed drastically off-center to the webs. The six-arm harness doesn't hold the arms any better than on previous figures but otherwise it's a very nice figure. Cloak: Nice figure, the more dramatic cloak should make it display better than the old minimate. Dagger: An excellent update, I especially like the pearlescent plastic. Carnage: If we didn't have the last Carnage this figure would be fantastic, as it is it's disappointing. It's inexcusable that the face print couldn't be changed up slightly. I suppose the new hands are a slight improvement but overall this is an inferior minimate to the Tendril Attack Version. Demogoblin: The face print is excellent. It appears the ragged boot top tampo was changed to all red in production which hurts the figure a little. The fiery glider is an excellent sculpt but the foot peg doesn't fit very tightly so it's going to be a real challenge to pose Demogoblin on it. Also, when I bend the right knee the plastic is tan instead of blue so he can't be posed in a crouch without looking awful. Those issues suck the excitement out of an otherwise very good figure. Shriek: Like Black Cat Shriek's tampo isn't printed very well on the black plastic. The only issue I have is that the black around the holes for the hand pegs is very visible. Shriek doesn't suffer for lacking any accessories so I think she was a good choice for a BAF.
  20. It certainly seems like the reasons behind it are something other than ratings. I'm disappointed it's unlikely we'll get to see an payoff for the tease at the end of Iron Fist.

    Silvermane as a BAF?

Blue and white. I can't imagine they'd do the old costume when the modern one is better known and would be another Superior Foe. Also, the old costume is ridiculous.

If Namor is here I hope it's not in that new costume. Ugh.
  24. I bought comic Daredevil earlier in the year and like it a lot even though the detail is a little soft and the wire for the rope attached to his baton is a real pain to deal with. I'd buy more but I'm trying to be conscious of space and I haven't loved a lot of the poses.
  25. Based on seeing Odin in the store I would have to say it depends on what you're looking for. I would find it not regal enough for a standard Odin, there's no Gungnir included, and as Trekker pointed out he isn't wearing Odin's standard headwear. It's a good minimate, certainly much better than the Ages of Thunder Thor which had a similar costume, but I wouldn't use it for the Lord of Asgard. I picked up the Ghost Rider/ Fallen set mostly because I want the skull for a custom Ghost Rider. It's interesting to me that that they made they cast the skull in color as opposed to the last proper Ghost Rider that had a translucent head with a skull tampo. I think I preferred that approach. The Fallen is nice enough and the new head and torso piece help hide the other parts reuse. Too bad it doesn't have a more Kirby-ish look.
