  1. This is just a test with plain paper. But it worked great. I setup a custom page size in Inkscape and a custom page size in my printer and I can now print a half sheet of stickers at a time. Awesome! I always do a test run on plain paper and cut out a couple to test the fit. The printer actually asked me to replace the tray with STMT sized paper. I think that's exactly half of an 8.5 X 11. A5 is very close as well. Some quick back of napkin math says consumables for Padrino's printer are 4 to 8 X what mine cost. Being a photo printer, I bet the prints are sharper though.
  2. A while back I was talking with @elhonez and maybe some others about the dilemma of really wanting to test / finish that custom when you don't have a lot of other stickers to print. I think as far as we got was managing a balance of not being wasteful and remembering that it doesn't cost all that much even if you waste a some. Something occurred to me yesterday and I'm wondering if anyone has tried this. I use Inkscape for a lot of my sticker work. I'm going to setup a custom page size of 8.5" X 5.5" in Inkscape and my printer driver. Then I can take a standard sticker page and cut it in half. My software and printer should be prepared to print a half page and I will be able to print twice as often without being wasteful. Maybe even quarters would work. Has anyone tried something like this? Any other conservation ideas? PS Now I wish I had access to one of those paper guillotines I remember from elementary school.
  3. And another one. Maybe a little tougher but I bet there are quite a few people who could correctly name all four characters, even though two of them are identical at this stage. Again, I find it interesting how much is conveyed by so little. I guess that's why block figures work though.
  4. I was playing around with some more printed figures and it dawned on me how iconic some looks can be. Take the following. Just a blank figure in the character's base colours. No decals or hair. And I bet a ton of people could guess the character. Another crap looking close up photo. 🤣
  5. I believe you are correct. I use lego hair models for some of my 3d printed characters and have to upscale them to fit a Minimate head. PS It's still on my radar to make some Minimate hats and release them for free but other projects are higher on the list currently. I made one hat with a separate [hair below the hat] piece for ease of printing. But I didn't account for the hair when designing so the hat looks too far forward with hair. Looks OK on a bald guy. It's more of a pimp hat though. One of these days I'll finish and post that project.
  6. Damn it Jim. I'm a doctor, not a male model. Though I do have great fashion sense.
  7. They could bring back the MAX line. Cowboys MAX with a Minimate horse. I wonder if that would sell.
  8. How meta. The Sybok Minimate will take away your pain (of not having a Sybok Minimate). My collection will never feel complete without one. LOL
  9. I updated my Cylon Raiders on Thingiverse, adding a new part. The file is called front-insert.stl and can be printed in black and glued into the front where it looks like jet engine intake or something. Gives the Raider a bit more detail and contrast. 3 pilot Raider https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5766423 Single Pilot Version https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5767185
  10. I haven't had much call for scanning tech so I might not be the best person to ask. But I think you'd need at least some level of proficiency with the scanning software and some ability to clean things up. There are free scanning apps for your phone. You could try one of those. I think the next step up from there is dedicated scanning hardware going from hundreds to thousands of dollars. I did some scanning with an old Xbox Kinect. But I definitely had to clean them up after. I think the low end hardware is still basically the same as that or very similar tech. I'm pretty sure there is no 3d photocopier yet. It sounds like that's kind of what you're looking for. If you see something that purports to be, do let me know. I would love a cheap and highly accurate scanner of any type.
  11. I think the texture you're talking about is the layer lines. Resin printers typically use a lower layer height than plastic squirters so the lines are less visible (better z resolution and accuracy). On top of that resin printers are typically more accurate in the X and Y dimensions so the border of each layer is closer to where you expect it to be. Materials-wise, the resin tends to be much more brittle than plastic. Not good if you drop them. I'm printing parts in ABS and PLA plastics. I'm not much of a resin guy. I think they may have developed some now with more plastic-like properties. With both types, layer height is a parameter of your print settings. I can choose to physically print more or less detail. I can print the plastic layers so low that you might not notice them anymore like a resin print but that print is going to take forever. But it still won't look as clean and sharp as a resin print. One of the things that makes it a fun hobby for a nerd like me is that there are so many things you can tweak to affect performance and quality.
  12. Since I've been dong vehicles, I tend to fill out sheets with vehicle stickers to use later, if I don't have a full sheet. Lately I've been 3d printing my customs and I usually make 3 and then pick the best one. I make a few duplicate stickers in case I screw something up. And still I feel like I waste some sticker paper. I have to remind myself sometimes that I can afford to use a whole sheet for one custom if I want. I don't really need to treat it as preciously as I do but it's good not to be wasteful.
  13. He's still here too. Same Dave that made me a Bishop face, I believe. Wings would not be a good one for me. But I could probably make some harnesses to re-use factory wings.
  14. Another classic about to go by the wayside due to Photobucket. Sigh. And also, thanks for all the laughs Mini_myte. Another person I hope is prospering wherever they are. 🍻
  15. Hey everyone, With Photobucket soon to go paid only, a bunch of the fights in this thread will soon disappear. Anyone who is not familiar with what this thread is about should read it from the beginning. The Geohound had a real talent for Minimate fight choreography and the later stuff hosted on minimatescentral is still there for now. It brought a smile to my face looking back at some of these. Here's to The Geohound! Whatever he is up to these days. I hope he's prospering.
  16. I feel your pain regarding decal sheets. It takes willpower sometimes not to waste a whole sheet for one sticker you really want to see on your figure. LOL
  17. Link? I'm so curious. So curious, in fact, that I did not spend the time trying to think of pig related puns to work into my post. Sausages come in links so there's a weak one I guess. Anyway, where can one see these figures?
  18. Classic BSG have a piece that looks a bit similar. Not sure if it will work for you or not. It's meant to represent the gun belt. But the holster is a separate piece that attaches to the leg. So the belt part looks similar to this piece though not the same one. Hopefully it suits your purpose and you have one.
  19. Well then, we might have to make you one. 🤣
  20. I love this place sometimes. However it should have been obvious. It's a reference to The Princess Bride and how Humperdink wants to frame those smarmy Guilders. edit: Somehow I missed that NerdyTrev had this one. If they ever make Princess Bride mates maybe we can get smarmy Guilder army builders. 😆
  21. 2 words for you Zach. And it rhymes with farmie fuilders.
