  1. I picked up every set except the Marine and ODST one the other day and I gotta say that I was impressed with the work on these. They're the right blend of detail, bulk, and articulation. It's a videogame series that pretty much defined the modern first person shooter in terms of what it brought to the table from a technical standpoint and it has the distinction of being the first console game that was considered "must have" for it's online gameplay. In terms of plot the franchise is set in the mid 26th century and focuses on a massive war between Mankind and this religious organization of aliens known as the Covenant. That's a basic run-though if you wanna go deeper, there's a Wikipedia for Halo that goes into insane detail and can answer any questions about individual characters. The games have great gameplay (something just feels right when you fire your weapon in the games and the Online is a blast when you disable the voice chat) and the storyline borrows and sorta plays around with different Sci-Fi elements and conventions in a fun way.
  2. Just checked at my TRU in Kalamazoo, MI and it appears they haven't gotten them in yet. But on the plus side I was able to pick up Wave 36 sans the variant when I was picking up my comics. I really hope these show up online soon, the hunt for these exclusive waves really burn me out.
  3. I modify my Minimates all the time, it's been something I've been doing since I began collection. Speaking of Luke Cage modifications I managed to make a pretty decent modern Luke Cage by putting New Avengers Luke Cage's head on James Rhodes' body. I've been meaning to do it with a bald Sisko head and that could be a good alternative too if you don't own a New Avengers Luke Cage or you hate the catfish goatee.
  4. Psylocke was a brief member during the 2000's although I'll admit I get her confused because she was a side character in Captain Britain when he ran solo. She does add to the 80's X-Men they got going.
  5. 3 Inch Kirk for sentimental reasons as he got me into this madness. Not counting sentimentality I'd say Marvel Ares; despite being pretty new in a line that almost spans 10 years, he's absolutely perfect and captures the absolute awesomeness of Ares into Minimate form. I'm also quite impartial to Invaders Captain America (although Wave 5 with Crusher Creel is my favorite 2 pack) and Captain Britain.
  6. I'm going to be coy and not sugar coat the fact that I'm mainly looking for a summer job so I can buy Red Dead Redemption when it comes out. I've wanted a GTA-style Western game ever since GTA 3 popularized the sandbox game and since it's released early in the summer, I'm going to have alot of time to explore every detail of the game. Which is going to be no small feat since I heard that the game is twice the size of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which is a game I spent well over a year exploring on my free time. Yes I will enjoy the summer and go to the beach with my friends and go to barbecues and all that, but when I'm home and I have the free time, I'm going to be blasting "Ecstasy of Gold" and playing Red Dead Redemption. Unless it gets like a 9% on Metacritic.
  7. NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE! Lockjaw and Hulkbuster Iron Man have been at the top of my want list for a couple of years at this point. Pairing Lockjaw with Betsy kinda sorta hints that there will be more Inhumans and Excalibur Minimates down the road, which I'm totally down for. I just hope the distribution is something akin to the last Marvel wave.
  8. How are these as far as collectibles are concerned? Are they worth the money? I've been really interested in 1/6 scale figures for a few years and the Metal Gear Solid line looks REALLY tempting.
  9. Says the man with the avatar from a David Cronenberg movie As for the Halo Mates it's the marine I'm most concerned with, he just looks like a busy mess. I really wouldn't mind if he just had most of his armor tampo'd on, it would make the Spartan's look more striking and badass in comparison. I also can't really complain about the Elite because I honestly couldn't come up with anything better and I'm really banking on this set being cooler in person. CRAP! Now I really want to watch Videodrome.
  10. I've been playing this during my off time during finals week, I never thought I could be addicted to a NewGrounds game more than Megaman vs. Ghosts and Goblins, but then this magnificent beast came along. Dang that really was one of the best things ever. I have to say I love Samus for this. Link's a little harder to work with. Funny, I'm actually really good with Bill R. and Mega Man, and I've been trying to get good with Simon but he wasn't really built for the game (although his ax and whip when maxed out are devastating). I should play with Samus and Link more though. After more playing Bill really kicks ass! I mean, him and Mario combined can take care of 90% of situations. Yeah, once you get used to platforming with him he's great, maxed out he's just a force of destruction and firing at different angles really gives him a great advantage. Did anyone catch this: http://kotaku.com/5529811/super-mario-cros...ll+%28Kotaku%29 Interesting about who got caught, I was actually really surprised he didn't consider Arthur from Ghosts and Goblin's as a character.

  13. I'll have to wait until I have these in my hand before I make any judgments about them. I think that while the designs are wonky (the Marine in particular, I don't mind the Spartan's because they're supposed to be super tall and heavily armored), they'll get polished out as it gets closer to release (I remember thought the Iron Man movie mates had the same problems when they were first announced and I was proved gloriously wrong in that department). I'm glad Art Asylum is trying videogame mates again (it just makes MGS mates one step closer) and I think there is alot of potential for this wave.
  14. It's being made with the same people that did the writing and story for 2 which has me really excited, the writing of 2 was my favorite of the series; and it'll have the gameplay of 3 which was my favorite gameplay of the series. The other big thing I'm enticed by is how the story is shaping up to include a bunch of ideas from the canceled Fallout 3 game that the developers were working on before the fit hit the shan over at Interplay.
  15. Here's my top 5 going by systems I've owned over the years: Sega Genesis: Sonic 3 and Knuckles-Since originally Sonic 3 was supposed to be both of these together I'm gonna count this as one game, I love the Genesis Sonic games and over all I prefer this only slightly over Sonic 2. Captain America and the Avengers-The cheese factor is what makes this game sing, but it's so fun beating up stuff as Captain America. Shinobi 3: Rise of the Ninja Master-Awesome game and I wish I discovered it when I was a little kid. Comix Zone-Best game you've probably never played and it has one of the best soundtracks for the system. Streets of Rage 2-AMAZING game and an AMAZING soundtrack, say what you will about the Genesis they had a knack for making beat em' ups with amazing gameplay and amazing soundtracks. Playstation: Spyro the Dragon-I personally think this was probably the greatest 3D performers of its time and I still find myself humming its amazing soundtrack to this day. Metal Gear Solid-Probably one of my favorite games ever made and it absolutely blew my mind when I played it as a little kid. It hasn't aged that badly and Solid Snake is one of my favorite fictional characters. Spider-Man-Helped get me into comics and one of my favorite superhero games. Grind Session-I'm sorry THPS, but this is my favorite Skateboarding game, and I'll admit that it helped I read my Older Brother's issues of Big Brother when I was little. Medievil-Fun, great eerie soundtrack. Playstation 2 (it it going to be really hard to choose 5): Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas-I literally played this game for a 2 years after it came out, not because I had little else to play, but because I was still discovering every nook and cranny of the game. Metal Gear Solid 3-Everything I wanted a PS2 Metal Gear Solid game to be (I didn't have a problem with the 2nd but the story was too ambitious for its own good and I liked Raiden but it was seriously like going from playing as Charles Bronson to playing as Justin Timberlake), the story is good but depressing. Resident Evil 4-One of the best action games I've ever played and such a fun game. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time-One of the best performers I've ever played and an amazingly haunting soundtrack. Bully-It's like San Andreas on a smaller scale and with an alot more detailed environment. The soundtrack reminds me of Devo in a good way and the game developers really take great advantage of the setting. X-Box 360: Grand Theft Auto 4-It's the little details that make this game shine, it's Bully level detail on a San Andreas scale. Bioshock-One of the best stories I ever seen in a game and some amazingly satisfying gameplay. Batman: Arkham Asylum-Everything I could want in a Batman game. Mass Effect 2-It's improves all my problems with the 1st game (although I miss the old Mako segments), I'm a bit sad they streamlined the RPG elements in favor of more action oriented stuff (which is weird coming from me I'm an action game junkie). But its a great character heavy game and the graphics are amazing. Fallout 3-Any game where I can destroy Paradise Falls with a character that looks like Burt Reynolds is a winner in my book. A true successor to the series. PC: Call of Duty-The Battle of Stalingrad in the Soviet section is one of the most f'd up gaming segments I've ever played. Age of Mythology-I loves me some Starcraft and Dawn of War, but this is my favorite RTS game ever. Fallout 2-Once you get past the difficult first few hours and the game picks up, you have a great RPG with some of the best dialog I've seen in a game. The game literally is designed to accommodate anything you decide to do to/with your character. Diablo 2-Something about killing the forces of hell for treasure never gets old. World of Warcraft-I never felt so rewarded for accomplishing something so small within the game. You hit a wall sort of when you reach Level 80 (unless you're into hardcore PVP or PVE), but the lead-up and sheer amount of stuff to do is staggering.
  16. Does anybody know if DST has licence to do mates for Thor and Captain America? Cause that will most definitely mean Asgardian Troop builders. Also I'm really excited to see the Destroyer armor, whatever fight Thor has with it will be INSANE. It also sorta confirms an earlier rumor about the Avengers movie But that's one of the more crazier rumors so I would take it with a grain of salt.
  17. Have these hit comic shops yet? I was thinking of picking up what I didn't snag from the TRU wave when I do the rounds for Free Comic Book Day (I always buy 1 item from whatever store I go to that day) and I want to be sure so I go to one of the comic shops nearby that stocks Minimates.
  18. After a couple of weeks of regular visits, my TRU in Okemos finally got a case of Iron Man 2 Minimates. The case was fresh when I was there yesterday and I picked up and Black Widow and Mark II and a Warmachine and a Silver Suitcasturion pack.
  19. YES, I would kill for an Uncle Muscles or a Dr. Steve Brule/Married News Team boxed set.
  20. I really want some Akira Kurosawa Minimates, any of his films would be a good boxed set (except Seven Samurai and Ran those need to be several boxed sets). They'd add alot of variety to the line even if you'd use the same faces for alot of the characters (there would be like 8 Toshiro Mifune minimates) and if Art Asylum could make alot of money if they know how to market them to hipsters and film buffs. Also the Universal line has made me realize that they need to PULL THE STRINGS!!! and make some Ed Wood minimates. You could do a Glen or Glenda two pack and do boxed sets for everything else. I want my shelf to be choked with Tor Johnson and Bela Lugosi minimates.
  21. If these are starting to hit in Farmington Hills and Livonia, that means the Toysrus in Okemos/East Lansing can't be far behind. Looks like I got a bus ride to take between classes tomorrow, cause it gets cherry picked pretty quickly. Does anybody know when the movie wave is supposed to hit comic shops?
  22. Has these been hitting TRU yet? I live kinda near a distribution center and although the Toysrus by where I live has its Iron Man display up, I haven't spotted them yet. Unless they're getting wicked mad scalped which is sadly a possibility.
  23. Sweet I'm glad their in stock at TRU.com, I wasn't able to get the Storm/Klaw pack because the store nearest to me is hit up by scalpers (I'm not being paranoid either, they're very meticulously cherry picked) within the first couple days a case arrives.
  24. I'm not that worried about it, the details of the first game were scant up until about 3 or 4 months before the release and this is probably going to be the most we'll hear about the game for the next few months. I also don't think Rocksteady has it in them to deliver an inferior product given how crazy detailed the first was, nor do I think they wanted the license just to make one game. That said, I'm keeping cautiously optimistic about this at least until they announce a release date.
  25. Anybody visit http://arkhamhasmoved.com/ yet? I'm extremely excited for the new sequel and I'm glad they're not going to try and set it on Arkham again. It's looking like Two Face is going to be one of the main villains, but did anybody notice any of the clues toward other villains in the Trailer? The building that the Joker is hiding out has a rusted Sionis sign in it which is a clue towards Black Mask since Roman Sionis is Black Mask's alter ego and his family owned their own company. Also one of the buildings being looted is the Penguin owned Iceberg Lounge. I don't think the story'll be a straight retelling of No Man's Land (as awesome as it'd be), since I remember one of the guards talking about the events of it in the first Arkham Asylum implying that Gotham had already been hit by the quake prior to the events of the game. But they're definitely going to pull alot of elements from it. For some weird reason I really hope Solomon Grundy is in the new game, living in the sewers Long Halloween style. I don't know why, but I think a sewer segment where Batman gets caught between a fight between Killer Croc and Grundy would be totally awesome.
