  1. As Cloneme predicted, most of the vendors have posted their exclusives on SDCC's site, so check it out. Also wanted to point out that I received alot of invitations, Shanester, Bluesparrow, Cappy and TBT to name a few, even the main man Ady But I did indeed have alot(and still do) on my plate. After the AA forum went south I came down with strep throat and had to reshedule my wife's birthday dinner 3 times(here birthday was on the 13th of last month) because of this. Once I got on my feet fully, my chores around this place were out of control and I've been playing catch up ever since This is actually the first time I've had to myself to spend on the computer. As most know, we're in the middle of a remodel upstairs and I just want it finished to a point where we can get the downstairs straight. Unfortunately, I have some outside work to do before summers end or even going down to SDCC this year. So, I've been running around like a crazy person trying to wrap some things up and get my back porch ready for bbqing I hope to meet up with folks again this year. Last years turn out was a small affair thanks to our limited schedules Hopefully the turn out is a bit grander, because no one likes to drink alone and I'm celebrating my 40th down there this year. If everyone could get ahold of TBT or Shanester, so we can coordinate, that would be awesome. I can't promise anything, since I don't know what my wife has cooked up for my birthday(The one day Shanester's there ), but I'll be cruising around the con trying to take in a second year of this. So if you see a bald guy with a Batman bag(Lurch pull out the pic) and a pretty red head, come up and introduce yourself. The worst that can happen is security escorts you to the exits
  2. You know, I'm kind on the fence on this one. This must be the thread Cappy was talking about, where everyone was talking to me and I wasn't even registered yet AA's Forum was my first community, I've met some great folks there. Which is why I got involved with the forum as a forum leader. But like Ady, that kind of bit me in the butt. As Ady pointed out, Brandon is as much a employee of AA as the rest of us were(which is to say we weren't ). While I applaud his and everyone else's efforts, I think it was a little too late. As far as the lack of input from AA in their own forums? I'm always suprised at that one, since we've been buying product manufactured from them, but distributed by others As I said to another member recently in a e-mail...I think AA will eventually bring the forum back once they've got their mission statement down and have decided on whether their a toy company or design group. For all we know they might go the Neal Adams way and start a marketing company. But as long as they're signing NDA(Non-disclosure agreements), there will be little need for a forum. As Jules and most of you have pointed out, there are plenty of places to hang our hats. For Trekkers there's Fwoosh, Fatheadcookies site, and TrekUnited, not to mention smaller boards like Points of Articulation. For Minimate fans, look no further than what Ady and his motley crew of pirates have come up with. While I wish Adam and AA all the best, I agree with Shanester, I think this is a huge relief for them to not have a forum. Now they can concentrate on what they do best, put out some of the best lines out there
  3. Cloneme, if you change your mind, you might try YouBuyNow.com, the owner said all his figures have black pieces. I thought about picking these up there before finding them locally.
  4. Well, I guess you can move some of the spoilers over to this thread from my thread Ady
  5. Does anyone know why Billy won't be returning and is she popular over in the UK? My wife asked that question today and was curious if anyone knew. BTW, I don't think we need a seperate thread for US viewers, as I'm sure that won't be the case when BSG hits the airwaves again Please just use the spoilers, while I usually read things anyway, I know some members don't. Have to say I really liked the 1st Doctor, you never knew what he was going to say next Another show we've started to watch is Hex, strange little show. Trish likes it alot, but I keep waiting for the plot to thicken
  6. Well, got to watch about the first 30 minutes of it before the sound went out in the recording So, I'm going to try and re-record it tomorrow at 9pm. It's also being replayed on the 4th and the 9th, where they will include episode 2. From what I could tell, it wasn't too bad. I think most syndicated shows start out a little rough at first. Trust me, Highlander The Series first season wasn't that compelling, but did get better in the end. Hopefully the movies will get good again too. Debating on making my wife watch the first Blade movie, since it explains some of the things. But she wasn't a fan of the 3rd one, still, she's giving the show a chance(gotta love her for that). Anyway, I think it's too soon to judge the show. I think it has potential and could do alright. At least Sticky is a comic book geek when it comes down to it.
  7. Just kidding honey Since I'm feeling a little bit better and the wifes on vacation, been doing a few things together around the house. But now that everyone seems to be asleep, I thought I would finally play catch up with my fellow Minimaniacs. Alot of folks told me about this crazy new site a month or so ago, but I was too down for the count to participate. I wish Ady and his motley crew all the best in this endeavor. Not to mention a big thank you for giving us a forum to participate in. Sorry to say it gang, but this might be one of our permanent homes. Face it, it's been well over a month since the AA forum went down and this one seems to have some of the old mojo that AA's had in the past. While I was discouraged about the Trek bashing(If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have discovered Minimates), I'm glad to see there's a place for members to talk about just about anything they collect. Thanks again for giving us a new home Ady and good luck
  8. Glad to see you make it over HSD, I made the switch recently myself. Which reminds me, I guess I should start my own thread I could have sworn I sent you the link when I spoke with you after AFTimes(sorry) But I've been spending most of the last hour just playing catch up while the wife and dogs are fast asleep. Since while she's on vacation its the only chance I get to grab the computer
  9. So has anyone seen this yet? I have to say all of my apprehensions were put to rest after seeing this film. I'm glad they ignore the 3-4 continuity, they really didn't fit and I also look forward to the Donner version of Superman 2 later this year. Definately going to be picking that one up. Folks, put your troubles to rest and just go and enjoy the movie. I promise it will be worth it, but I'm going to try and talk the wife into going to the IMAX experience in the next week or so. I think summer has definately kicked off with this one
  10. I like the boxes myself, as others pointed out, easier to store(for the moment). But I think DCD might do something a little bit different to set themselves apart from their Marvel counterparts(?). I just hope these don't share some of the issues that some complained about on the AA Forum, wrong feet, poor paint application, etc.
  11. Yeah, I hear you TBT(Glad you adopted the monogram ), I was supposed to be recovering too But I recently picked up the 1st season of The Batman and have to say, I'm a fan I just finished out my season purchases of BTAS, Superman and bought the first season of JLA. I'm currently watching the 1st season of Superman and didn't think the transfer was very good. I kind of wished they had cleaned up some of the mistakes or problems that they mention in the commentary. Before Supes, I watched the 1st season of Batman Beyond. While my wife wasn't a fan of the show, I still like this one. I think it was a little ahead of it's time for the most part and might work better today. Since as someone pointed out you have shows like Smallville and Teen Titans that played with the continuity and animation a bit. Anyone have a ETA on the 2nd season of BB? As far as the comments about Superman and the LOS, I guess I must be the only one that read this series when I was younger. Both Keith Geiffen and Mike Grell had some nice stories. Like TT, I'll give it a shot. Since I think the anime feel works for TT, hopefully it will for LOSH too. Thanks also for the tip on the S:AOB Lurch, I actually thought about picking it up.
  12. Yes, you are correct Blue. SDCC is from the 19-23(Counting Preview Night ). I'm kind of hoping this is true, like others have said, it would be nice to have a early DCD MM fix(especially this set). As TBT pointed out, I need to build a army of OMAC's
  13. Ok, so the Mrs. and I just got done watching the first season of Doctor Who and I have to say they have a new fan. While I probable won't go out and purchase the rest of the past shows, I did like the season 1 Doctor. Does anyone know when the second season of Doctor Who starts here in the states? How does the new Doctor differ from the old one? Why did the actor not come back as the Doctor, was it his decision or in the script? Just curious, as I told Jules in a recent e-mail, I think my wife and I our English, just English born in the USA. Because most of the shows we enjoy our from the UK, Hustle, Red Dwarf, etc Anyway, thought I might resurrect this old topic from the AA forum, hopefully there's enough of us to sustain the thread
  14. I got lucky and found the blue pieces initially CM...and THEN heard about the black pieces on AFTimes I think. Let me know if you need some assistance and I'll scrounge around my area. One of our local stores received the black pieces initially, then sold out, but I know some obscure places to look as well. Send me a e-mail or pm to let me know for sure
  15. Funny thing is, Donster, in the first posts, people were talking to you. You weren't even registered yet and comments were being directed to you. Heh. Guess we all assumed you would make it here, I for one checked to make sure you had been invited. I'm sad it took you a while and the reasons there of, but glad now that you're here! Yeah, finally got over the crud. I guess I need to go back and reread things more slowly this time. But off to bed after I review a few things. Need to get up bright and early to go and see Superman Returns. Hopefully my trucks problem is actually fixed this time and I can pick it up tomorrow afternoon
  16. See now you read invented and I read invited, tomatoes tamotoes Seems like a weird request. I know the first question I asked isn't who's in charge
  17. Act now, operators are standing by If my money wasn't tied up with my off shore accounts, I would be all over this I'll see about squirreling some money aside though, for the cause, for the father land, you get the point. C'mon gang, it's kind of fun to wear these things to local events
  18. No one mentioned me, I'm hurt gang Seriously, received the invite from a few of the gang, but been down with strep throat for the last week or so. So my computer time was down to nothing. Anyway, thanks for giving us a place to hangout Ady while the AA Forum is down. I probable spend most of my time playing catch up. Of course I have a long list of things I need to do around the house, since my yard looks like Tarzan's jungle
