oh man -- i loved Tommy!! i got a few sketches from him (all in sketchbooks). guy was amazing and just super kind to fans. last time i talked to him he was in a lot of pain but was optimistic. very sad to lose him

If i recall correctly it was robert kirkman’s team that ended the minimates for the walking dead. as for aliens - i thought we got way more than i could have hoped for. The only thing missing was maybe some alien vs predator stuff but i believe that was a different license

I’m surprised no one has done an article showcasing the history of minimates and all of the characters/ licenses that have been made. I was too young for mego but my understanding is that a huge part of the appeal was being able have captain america interact with batman and the planet of the apes in the same scale/format. For me that was a huge part of the appeal of minimates. Something like that could open people’s eyes a little bit and hopefully win some folks over.

someone mentioned Cotswald (sp?). i didn't know they were still around but back when i sold toys they were huge for GI JOE collectors. they did a lot of reproductions and a bunch of new designs as well. i haven't thought about them in 20 years but if they're still around doing what they did then you should look them up too. i reached out to YO JOE but haven't heard back. when i sold all my joes they were what i used as my resource for putting all the figures with the correct accessories.

i went ahead and sent photos to Hisstank's facebook page to try to get coverage there. Hasbro does thier pulse events -- not sure if they ever promote the super7 stuff but yeah, i think these just need exposure. i know my comic shop just doesn't like carrying them b/c they're small and are hard to see amongst all the other stuff they carry so they only order what i ask them to order. here's where i suck, i'm not even sure if there's a GI JOE comic coming out right now. i think last i read the license was going to a new publisher but that publisher hasn't been announced yet. anyone that's willing to take a risk on a new comic is probably interested in this line. zach, thanks for fighting the good fight and for taking the time to respond to all of our questions. while i am feeling let down that no new real american hero characters have been shown, i am looking forward to these sets. i thought i knew a lot about the joe history but that second set has me perplexed! i'll be looking up the history of those as soon as i can b/c i have never seen any of them before! i worked at a store in the late 90's/early 2000's that was all about the 12" joe stuff so i got educated by some hardcore fans on the history of the joe line and got to see some really cool stuff. but honestly, none of it was cool as the 80's stuff to me.

i did, thanks! love it but i'm not really into 6" figures. got a few but prefer minimates. thanks though! i did get the simpsons matt groening and stan lee figures. was lucky enough to get the matt one signed but missed out on stan.

that said, if you ever do a larry hama figure i'd be first in line!

he was super nice and was more worried about fitting his signature on there. not sure if he thought they were custom or what but he didn't ask anything about them. i also got comics and regular old joes signed too plus got a sketch from him. he didn't really say much but was smiling the entire time and thanked me after i thanked him for coming to houston. he had a decent line of folks everytime i walked by so i think he was happy in general. i'd met him about 20+ years ago when devils due was doing thier gi joe line so i really didn't have any new questions or anything so maybe i should have been more engaging but i didn't want to hold up the line
