  1. Don't get me wrong when I say it was weak in parts; I do love Smallville and I loved Absolute Justice. It was great to see real superheroes on the show and I hope it happens more. Clark looked a bit underdressed in his Blur costume. I thought the JSA characters themselves were all handled really well, and I hope to see them back again at some point on the show. I also look forward to seeing where the arc that they've started goes.
  2. So did anyone catch Absolute Justice last weekend? I thought it was a little weak in parts, and I found it hard to believe that it took the combined might of the JLA and JSA to take out . I wish they'd had a few more villains in there. That being said, I enjoyed seeing these characters on the screen, and I laughed out loud when DC Direct's favourite made a guest appearance. Doctor Fate was really well done. John Jones' new costume though - I'm not sure what to think about that. Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I thought it was probably better than starting a new one.
  3. An unaccessorised Minimate can just about fit in Sideswipe, but it's tighter due to the car being a lot lower than Bumblebee. Hopefully the HA Barricade will have a bit more room when it's announced, as the T-1000 'mates would look great in that.
  4. There's a pretty cool interview at the TV Guide website, showing off the Hawkman costume.
  5. Yeah, I made a 'Savior' Clark Kent back in August. I'm looking forward to the costume designs they come up with for the JSA, and aside from that I will probably want to make a Dr. Hamilton, Metallo and Zod. I've been really enjoying S9 so far, although the latest episode was a little disappointing to me. Don't get me wrong, . It was done in quite an interesting way that could have further effects for Chloe down the line. I actually wish that Clark had been in that episode a little more, though. His story didn't really develop much here, .
  6. I stand corrected (by myself). It's still a beautiful country, but I found some Minimates. This isn't a custom at all, but it's just a quick 5-minute Photoshopping to celebrate purchasing four C3 Flash's for $12. There's a little 'Big Bang Theory' reference in there for fans of the show. And just to show I'm not joking about finding four of these.
  7. I've been a fan of Smallville for a few years now, although I think that season 8 lost it's way a bit in the middle and never quite made it back by the finale. That being said, I enjoyed 'Savior'. The black suit is cool for now, but I'm hoping he'll be in some form of red and blue costume again before too long, preferably with the . Also, more Justice League would be nice! I didn't think Birds of Prey was too bad either. It's a shame it was cut short, as I think there was quite a bit of potential there.
  8. I've not really been keeping up with Ghostbusters Minimates, but today I was looking at the Slimer Minimate (MMDB link) and had an idea. The C3 hole in a Minimate's foot is virtually the same diameter as the peg that attaches the crotch to the torso. I'm guessing under there Slimer has a normal Minimate torso. I'm not sure about this, but does this mean that it's possible to use Slimer's stand as a sort of flying stand? Could someone please try this, as I don't want to hunt one down for it not to work. The clear green one seems like it would work well for displaying Green Lanterns. Do we know if this stand is going to be used in any different sets and colours? Thanks in advance, and sorry if someone already pointed this out.
  9. How about a LEGO pitchfork? You may need to modify the handle to fit Minimate hands and scale, but it could be a good starting point.
  10. I know it's nothing new to use Transformers Alternators with Minimates, but I thought I'd put up some pics to show that they also work with movie Human Alliance Bumblebee. As long as the Minimate in question isn't too bulked up with accessories, it can fit in fine. Here's a size comparison with the figure included in the set. You could probably find a better head for a Sam Witwicky custom.
  11. I don't mind at all in fact! I'm not sure about the availability of Laura Vandervoort, but in the run-up to the Season 8 finale I seem to remember the orb mention . So the story seems to allow her back in whenever they decide to. Personally, I'm not much of a fan of the character, in any incarnation. I also started converting my comics Zatanna into a Smallville one. Are there any other important characters I've missed? BHM, if you do ever end up out here give me a shout. It is a beautiful country, albeit one without Minimates
  12. My brother got a couple of the tanks a while back, and as far as I can tell they're pretty durable. I'd say the quality of plastic was higher than Mega Bloks, though obviously it's no Lego. I know that the tanks don't fit Minimates in (at least when they're built to instructions), as the figures are scaled more to Lego minifigs.
  13. I just saw it, and it's actually not all that terrible. It's not great, and not especially memorable either, though. It did remind me of the 1980s cartoon movie a little (the only G.I.Joe backstory I know) with all the high-tech weaponry and vehicles. Like Transformers, it felt like a bit of a toy advert, which is fair enough, because that's all I expected from it. It doesn't try to be something it's not, so it ends up as a good fun watch. Not unmissable, but I don't regret going.
  14. buttheadsmate: I couldn't find a reasonable job in England, so I moved to Korea as an English teacher. No one seems to mind that I'm not a qualified teacher, but at least I'm genuinely English. Twisted Two-face: The video I found is this one. You can also see a blurry pic here and a clearer (admittedly fan-made) version here. The design reminds me of the one Superman wore in the comics after coming back from Doomsday killing him; . Looks like season 9 will be an interesting one. Thanks for the kind words everybody. It's good to be back with more customs, however briefly. You almost got to see my Rorschach custom, but I didn't have time to do the pinstripes on his trousers. Something about a plane to catch...
  15. Well, long time no custom! I've been living in Korea all year, but I popped back home for a few days. The emphasis for these customs was more on speed than quality, as I was short on time. Here we go... Season 9 Clark Kent. This is based on the first episode of Smallville season 9, or at least the SDCC preview clips of it. The coat is from Punisher, and the head is from my older Clark custom. The torso is newly painted. These next guys started off as SHIELD agents, but I realised army-building bad guys is more fun, so changed them to HYDRA halfway through. They're basically all BSG pilots repainted. Red Skull himself has a Captain Blackhawk chest cover and Robin's skirt. Ideally I would have used Blackhawk's, but couldn't find it at the time. As I said, these aren't the best paint jobs I've done, so I'll probably neaten them up when I have more time. Cap certainly doesn't think much of them. EDIT: Changed the link to an in-thread image, as Clark's costume isn't really a spoiler at this point.
  16. Just to throw another option out there, I always found BrickLink helpful when planning Lego creations. If you go to the reference catalogue, everything is organised by brick type. Once you find what you need, you can go to the various sellers and order individual parts. Good luck with the bug!
  17. I just stumbled across this site that sells LEGO minifig stands. They come in packs of 10, and while they're not exactly cheap, they seem a nice idea for displaying Minimates on.
  18. I don't think I've commented on your customs yet Bob, but they all look really professionally made. I especially like your Watchmen; really good job on those.
  19. I agree with Randymarsh that the average movie-goer would be left behind a little, as a couple of plot points were skimmed over. However, I don't think it's a significant problem. I would say it's a lot better than X3, but not as good as X1 or X2. I didn't mind too much that the other characters didn't get that much screen time. Yes, it would have been nice, but this was a 'Wolverine' movie first and foremost, which is fair enough. The problem was that in the promos and trailers, these characters were hyped up, making us expect they would have a bigger role. It still didn't make me want to buy the 'mates like the Iron Man movie did, if that can be a judge of a film's quality. They seem to have a couple of nice parts, but not visually exciting in the way the IM ones were.
  20. I'm not anywhere near close to being an expert on the whole comic accuracy/reinterpretation issue. However, I found it a really fun film to watch. It's not the best comic book adaptation ever, but I would definitely recommend it, and I'll probably watch it again. Some of the action is a little over the top at times, which may bug you if you wanted a more believable style, but for my personal tastes it was fine.
  21. I saw it. The movie actually came out yesterday in Korea, so no piracy here. It is just Gambit's fingers and eyes that glow, and the ends of whatever he's charging (i.e. card edges, end of his staff etc.).
  22. The DCD Superman head reminds me a little of Captain Scarlet. I think the BSG officer chestpiece might be a good starting point for his waistcoat. Look forward to seeing those customs!
  23. It's been a while since I was into Games Workshop, but I remember a site called warseer.com. Not sure if they have a trading section, but it's a fairly big community anyway, so may be a place to ask about such things.
  24. This isn't really a new custom at all, but I thought since the guy at PS3 Maven wrote a nice article about my Solid Snake Minimate, I'd put up a link to the website. Maybe any Playstation 3 fans out there might like the site.
