  1. Also, according to Instagram the line isn’t supposed to be out until next week on the 1st. Whoopsie.
  2. The problem with the giants is that they are giants. Every decision has to be needled to death by a litany of execs and even a good idea in theory can become toxic in execution. I think if they can do the website AND the shipping then they are in a much better spot.
  3. Part of it is seasonality and the other part will be not having enough stock to fill orders. Lest we forget in addition to the the TRU situation we are in the midst of a trade war with countries that impact the supply chain.
  4. Considering the amount of layoffs happening today at Mattel, EA, and Hasbro and this move, it’s definitely going to impact supply.
  5. As expected, Mattel, EA, and Hasbro are doing layoffs today with HR citing TRU as a huge factor. Hope our DST friends aren’t impacted.
  6. You aren’t wrong that the DST website needs an overhaul. I’m actually surprised it hasn’t gotten one. As for Walgreens, they are in a process of transition. They still haven’t gotten complete alignment from when they bought Duane Reade and now just bought RiteAid. Once complete you are talking about one of the largest distribution centers out there with stores in almost every single city in the US and a redesigned website that is still being rolled out. I know it’s not an answer anyone wants to hear but it was their first year and the embargo fiasco really impacted things. They are learning and will get it right. Clearly the experiences that this small group is having is not indicative of all the shoppers since Walgreens keeps coming back and even bought two comic book lines. Yes, it can be a shitty experience outside of urban areas but they are working in the online store. Hopefully Avengers BC won’t be an Alpha Flight. I don’t read the new Avengers series but hopefully someone does. Comic book stores are not the future.Comic book stores are a niche retail environment in an industry that is slowly turning into an IP factory. Comics as a whole lost millions in revenue last year in sales. If you want a retail giant, well Walgreens is one and their biggest threat to closing is an acquisition by another retail giant because even a Target or a Walmart can’t stop their footprint.
  7. It’s out. I have it in hand but it took several stores to get my Sersi.
  8. The only thing that this has going for it is that it is a current story line that will have “dramatic implications” for the MU with versions of name brands. It may be another Alpha Flight swing but I have to give them the credit for trying.
  9. Agreed. I think that it’s easy to dismiss what a cataclysmic impact TRU closing had on the toy industry. Some toy companies even scraping or postponing development because they had to get distribution figured out. In some cases the infrastructure for online stores which was on the 5 year plan has been accelerated to the 6 month plan. All of these things causing shifts in resources and I’m some cases incremental asks that just had to be sold in. It’s not as easy as oh we made them and they are sitting in a warehouse let’s just go to x and they will take them.
  10. It’s actually a canon story in “616” that is happening now. This is the earliest Ican recall a minimate wave happening for a recent story.
  11. I finally found the new assortment and it was as if the heavens opened up. It was the best. I picked them up and carried on. Pictures later.
  12. I wonder though if Walmart’s price busting may further alienate LCS and threaten the online retailers?
  13. Yeah I can confirm they are in NYC but I only saw them at one location being bought by a (presumably) a mom and a kid. I did go to several stores though before hand all throughout Midtown where I usually have better luck before seeing them.
  14. https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-Select/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3ADiamond Select I think this is them... if not what a landgrab.
  15. Well some retailers are figuring it out. It may even mean that dst has to do more to promote their amazon store. If Nike had to it’s pretty much a safe bet everyone will have to. https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/12/news/companies/nike-snkrs-app-nikeplus/index.html
  16. That’s the challenge I have. I love the classic comic book characters but we have to accept the fact that comics are a small and dying audience. They literally gave us what we claimed to want with Most Wanted (Tigra etc) and the fan vote waves and both didn’t do great. Look at the challenges Luke had with the Deadly Foes wave and how long that took to sell. I agree that the nice properties are a definite unexplored area and with things like Buffy, Hunger Games, etc there are in roads that could be made. Every time I see those retro figures I just get a little more angry especially when there are Arrow-verse characters. For innovation I also love the strike force multiple head concept and that’s probably why I own a dozen Blobs... As for subscriptions, sorry some of you have had issues touch wood I’m not one.
  17. I don’t know why but this thread really inspired me. I’d love to have an exclusive like. YellowJacket where he came with additional parts to turn into Rita, accessories and even part of a lab or something. I’m tired of buying select characters just for the dioramas since I don’t collect that line. Again, space is an issue for me so collapsing things would be swell. Lastly, whomever has been in charge of the MOTU and Gi Joe lines gets it. The online store has been great and So many of my friends love it. I just troll them for accessories ?
  18. I agree about Wanda but Vision in a tux? Not so special. I actually waited for years to buy her figure until it was just her loose (thanks Luke) because I knew that the vision would end up in my parts bin.
  19. I remember once interviewing Eric Ripert and asking him about specials at restaurants he told me “ a special has to be special or else it’s just an item you left off of the menu”. I think that’s the same philosophy to have with exclusives. Look they may be annoying to get and to find but at the end of the day they need to be exclusive and a bit challenging to find but also special. Scarlet Witch was special.... but I waited to but her loose since inonly wanted her anyway. The homecoming set was cool... but I waited until it was available on discount from TRU. The only time in recent years I remember “falling” for a special was Luke’s sticker packs. I don’t even use them but I want them in case I ever figure out how to get them on!
  20. Yeah, it lasted for a year but it tied in to classic C&D when Dyspare messes with them in issue 19 of their series.
  21. To be fair, at the time Alpha Flight was hitting into a renaissance with a new limited series that sold so well it was bumped to an ongoing after the first issue and it featured several of the same characters in addition to being a historic Marvel brand. I know that they didn’t sell well but one has to appreciate what and how they did it. The Antman and Avengers exclusives are where it fell off the rails to me where it was poor character selection and everything. YouBastards pointed out.
  22. I know it’s a long shot’s long shot but how great would it be to get an inverse Cloak and Dagger with him in his white get up and her in her black uniform?
  23. On a side note, what are the odds of the Marvel Legends Psylocke Butterfly effect actually being able to fit on a minimate?
  24. I never saw this article until now: http://money.cnn.com/2018/03/15/news/companies/toys-r-us-closing-blame/index.html?iid=EL any thoughts?
