  1. Nice to see someone else from this side of paradise! We should keep each other informed when they finally arrive over here. Ha Ha, nice! I'm a Patriots fan, I just happen to live in Steeler-ville.
  2. I'm on the West side of the state. Guess I'll give it another week or two before giving up on an in-store purchase. At the $6 price point I'd love to find them in the wild. I might stop in to the local store and see what I can find out about the distribution center servicing my area.
  3. Ah, she's "white" like Speed Demon, crap. Unless her character is a different ethnicity that i'm unaware of. Thanks for posting the pic, you probably saved me a few bucks. As her own character the minimate turned out pretty cool. Sucks that you couldn't get them at the show but glad it worked out in the end.
  4. Man, i'll bet that Guillotine head would look great with Medusa hair for a classic look. The eye color wouldn't bother me at all.
  5. I think these sets are harder to get behind for fans primarily collecting classic looks. I usually rule out the Spidey sets immediately as those aren't versions of or characters I'm particularly interested in. Same with Avengers I already have 616 versions of. That leaves a handful that while passable (for me) require a little tinkering after purchase, like Hyperion. Or I'm buying for parts like Medusas hair. That gets a little disheartening after a while. I only want Zemo from this new set and that's only if I decide I really NEED a Thunderbolts version to tinker with. I definitely know where you're coming from. But every now and then I get a Nighthawk, Dr Spectrum or Man-Thing that looks good right out of the box. Any issues I have with those three, aside from the fact that I paid a pretty penny for all, is more with execution than anything else. The last 2 waves have been available in my area so hopefully I'll be paying retail cost on future purchases. Hang in there MM!
  6. Is anyone finding wave 24 in PA? I did a big search last Sun and found nothing over seven widespread stores. Checked a few again after work last night and two this morning that are even more out of the way and still nothing. What's got me concerned is that only two of the nine were clogged with 23, the rest only had a couple packs if any. Of course the two that are jammed with 23 are the closest. I hope this isn't like wave 18 which never hit my area. Anyone know how much of an area Tru distribution centers cover? Is it broken down by counties? States?
  7. I've seen Ragnarok in various Tru but no wave 24 yet.
  8. That was tough picking just one but I went with Diablo. Psycho Man was a close second for me. I'd like see all of those choices made at some point, just because they aren't getting votes doesn't mean I wouldn't buy an Awesome Android a Mad Thinker or the Trapster. As for the Watcher, I currently use the old Marvel Select one. It's not a classic Kirby version but the scale works for me. I voted Alpha Primitives for the army builder but Borers would be neat too. I only need one Punisher robot so I didn't want to cast an army builder vote that way. Fun poll!
  9. This. I'm in the same boat as you. There are a few i've passed on, mostly newer stuff that I knew I'd never want but if there's any doubt in my mind I buy it. I would die if I had to pay some of the aftermarket prices on Spidey villains. Only figure I've kinda got burned on was Aim agents. Back then I only bought two each of army builders and i've since changed that to four of each. Hydra and Aim are the only ones i'd go for more of. I covered my butt on the Hydra troopers even though TRU 18 never hit my area. Aim agents are much costlier to come by and I'm too cheap to pay aftermarket prices for them. If they ever do them again I hope it's a straight re-release as they were spot on. And now you've got me thinking maybe I should grab a Surtur to keep, just in case.
  10. Amen. I just list who i'd really like to see and let DST worry about the mix/pack they come in. For me, this is the fun thread. Kostis, hilarious riff. Knew you were riffing on something, wasn't sure what but could tell you were having fun with it. Also enjoyed the MK vs Wasp comparison. I enjoy the loose tone people have shown over the last week or so. Posting should be fun, not a chore. At least that's my opinion, for what it's worth.
  11. Quoted for truth, couldn't agree more Polarboy. ? It's not just you. Anyone that was a member up to issue 200 goes into my classic team. There were a couple nice teams even after that in the 260's and up that I'd consider putting together but I cut it off at Reed, Sue and Gilgamesh around 300. I did really like Lionheart and would find a spot for her if they ever made her. Non-Avengers related, I'm a sucker for the original Captain Britain uniform and would love to see Brian in that look at some point. Regular masked head with hair piece please!
  12. I'm curious how the whole baf thing plays out past this wave. My concern is having to buy multiple packs I don't want for a classic character baf. I can do without Quake but if that had been say, classic Unicorn, i'd be looking at $24 to own him and a lot of figures I don't want. Hopefully if it continues classic and modern baf's will be paired with similar waves. Here's what I'll be looking to acquire from what's been revealed. Wv 75: Purple Man Tru Ragnarok: Hela Walgreens Ragnarok: Executioner Walgreens 6: Medusa hair Tru 24: Carrion Tru 25: Jack O Lantern, Chameleon Lcs: Brotherhood box set x 2 There are a couple other possibilities but those are the definite buys. Surtur looks good but I don't think I need him at that scale. If the tail works for a custom i've got in mind I'd buy one and use the red standard body and head for other customs. Collector also looks nice but I'm unfamiliar with that look. As others have stated I'll just qc a classic one. Maybe the face could work for that but I'll have to wait for clearer pics. I may also be interested in that Moon Knight hood to finish off another custom. Executioner looks great and even looks like he has a skirt piece which really helps give it a push towards a classic comic look. If I add skin colored arms and legs he should be a perfect match. That head is outstanding. Chameleon/MJ set will be very welcome as I never got an MJ minimate and I'm eager to see Chameleon up close. Not a ton of stuff for me but I'll be adding a nice handful of characters to my collection.
  13. Speaking to this, does she have the hair coming out the back of the helmet on the cartoon? I noticed in the comics she had long blue hair which I wasn't previously aware of. I picked up a boatload of Infinity books and tie ins at various sales over the last month or so. Despite my initially ridiculing her name I really dig Proxima and Corvus. Actually the whole Black Order so the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. Shame she doesn't have the comic helmet in the movie, I think it'd look fantastic on the big screen.
  14. Good callback Stegron, if it's a cosmic villain I'm hoping Grandmaster. Wouldn't be disappointed with Collector or Korvac either. I hope we find out at sdcc.
  15. Cap volume 2 was pretty awesome. Did not know that about the original Masterworks. I try to avoid hard covers for comics, just feels off to me. Only exception i've made is for the two volumes that reprinted the original Captain Britain run. I do have most of the softcover Masterworks and it looks like they kept the original colors. I'm looking at FF volume 5 right now and there's Galactus in all of his red and green first appearance glory. I'm glad they seem to be keeping the original colors. Some of them do look ridiculous now but that's how it was.
  16. I'm curious who the classic cosmic character is. And it's a new one. Going by the hints given, it would have to be a hero or not a full on villain, yes? High Evolutionary or Starhawk would be the first two that spring to mind for me.
  17. Ho-boy are you speaking some truth! Picked up the latest Captain America epic collection, Bucky Reborn, man are there some coloring gaffes in those original issues! In issue 124 the Aim agents are in purple and white outfits, which a few pages later turn into pink and white. In issue 127 they were blue and white! At least they're all the classic bucket head design. Issue 130 is the one that really reaches. Batroc and Whirlwind are on the cover in their classic costumes, colored correctly. But on the interior Batroc is in an all purple outfit and Whirlwind is in a completely different costume (think Bulletman)... and it's purple and blue. Wacky! I'm up to issue 131 so it'll be interesting to see if there are any other goofs in this volume. I never considered Cap issues in the 120's and 130's to be necessary to my back issue collection and story-wise I'm not seeing much to change my mind. Still, I'm glad to be able to peruse them and some of the Colan artwork is brilliant. He did so much nice stuff. Also, can't wait for X-Men box set.
  18. Spidey sort of gets a pass because I never really have him standing next to anyone. I've always got him hanging upside down or swinging above. He and Jessica Spider-Woman are the only spider characters I display. I did think Iron Spidey and 2099 had small heads. Didn't an older Spidey come with an all blue slipover? May have to dig that out and see if it could work for Spectrum.
  19. I can justify it with a Kree Sentry or Dreadnought where they've appeared in various sizes throughout their history. Sentinels are a bit of a stretch for me but i've got enough giant ones from other toy lines that I don't have to use the minimate ones if I don't want to. And I believe early Sentinels were in the 12-15 foot range... which I can work with in justifying the regular size ones. Where I start having trouble is the giant guys like Surter, Y'mir, Galactus, Watcher, Celestials, etc. Those are the ones that I just can't wrap my head around to make it work. I understand that DST has limitations with what they can produce so I generally wish for other characters instead of those ones. They have found creative ways of making figures taller and bulkier than the normal size ones so I'm glad for that. Giant characters just seem too off the mark for me. Regardless, I am still buying a Surter or two. Whether to use as random fire demons or for parts has yet to be determined.
  20. I'd looooooove to see Purple Man and Hellcat make the cut. Hoping Hellcat would be classic. PM doesn't really have a set look if I recall, suit or jumpsuit seems to do the trick. My ideal PM would be the crazy "stolen from Maximus' wardrobe" outfit he wore briefly in DD way back when, but I realistically don't expect anyone to make that one. I did a quick Google search and couldn't even find a pic of it.
  21. I should have clarified better in my last post but yes, it's classic Medusa I'm looking for. If I was interested in a modern look, this one would work for me. The way minimates are built, with a hair piece that fits on top of the base head, I personally feel masks should be an accessory just like the hair. It keeps everything consistent. Characters like Dr Spectrum look out of place next to a character with hair or an actual mask.
  22. Same here! Picked them up on Thursday and kept marveling at how nice the packaging looked. Finally opened them tonight after work and they turned out great. It was really nice to assemble the entire team in one set. Bring on the Minutemen, GA looks (S Spectre, Nite-Owl) or comic looks... I think I'd be onboard for all of it.
  23. Yeah, I was looking at the head and thinking of him but I think your Easter island guy description for Korg is the one I mistook him for. Was anyone else getting one version of three different pics at various times? My phone was only showing one pic each time I clicked on the link. Once it was Hela next to Surter, another time it was Korg and third time was the red Celestial looking guy. Odd.
  24. I'll be buying the Medusa hair and hopefully working up a classic 616 body to put it onto. It's looks like a damn nice sculpt and I'm glad the ears are part of it. BB looks ok but the lack of a slip on mask is bothersome to me. I'll stick with the original.
  25. I can't say that I need a human sized Surter but i'll pick one of those packs up to take a closer look. At worst I can hopefully use his tail for a custom i've had in mind. The rest just aren't for me. Still hoping for Ulik at some point. BD, I too only collect minimates. The value of 2 figures for $7.50-$8.00 is irresistible. These tiny block figures caught my attention at first sight and i've got a lot of satisfaction out of collecting this line. I did fear for the future when the single figure $5.99 blind bag price point was introduced. It's affected eBay prices for sure as everyone seems to think even the most common of figures is worth at least that. Even box sets now reflect that price point. Thankfully the two packs have stayed relatively unchanged and are still a great value.
