  1. I need help and so I turn to the best toy resource I know of.  Recently while visiting with their cousins, my kids discovered Zoobles.  I have a young son who is on the autism spectrum (he is hyperlexic).  He generally doesn't play with traditional toys.  I want to encourage both his fine motor skills and his imaginative play with a goal of social interaction/conversational skills, so when he showed some interest in these toys, I got excited.  Unfortunately, it appears that these toys may no longer produced.  I could find them on amazon but the prices seemed high.  From some internet searching, it appears that Zoobles were introduced as friendlier versions of Bakugan Battle spheres and were aimed towards a girl audience.  They are basically ball shaped toys that transform into colorful figures when placed on a magnetic stand.

Anyone know anything about these things or where I might be able to buy them at a reasonable price?  I would be happy to trade minimates for them if anyone had some.  My son would prefer the Zoobles, but I would be interested in the more aggressive looking Bakugan figures if that was what was available.  Anyone run across these in their travels?

  2. AFI- The art of drowning

    Gerard way- Hesitant alien

Johnny Cash- The man comes around

    The misfits- Famous monsters

    Billy talent- Billy talent I

It was too difficult to pick from preference so i just checked out my most listened to list on iTunes and these came up. my most listened to song on iTunes was Johnny cash- The man comes around. so I suppose that album get the top spot, the remaining four albums are not in any order at all.

The Johnny Cash Unearthed Boxset is fantastic.

  3. Thumbs up to Psyguy for Chutes Too Narrow. My wife and I danced to New Slang. thumbsup.gif

Can't believe we have to whittle our lists down to five; I've gotten my personal list down to top ten, and now I've got to divide it even more? Damn.

    1. Jesus & Mary Chain: Honey's Dead (though I often ossilate between that and Psycho Candy)

    2. Belle & Sebastien: The Boy With the Arab Strap

    3. The Cure: Disintigration

    4. Morphine: Cure for Pain

    5. U2: the Unforgettable Fire (though I reserve the right to change that)

But I have to say two things: Gish is better then Siamese Dream; and the GotG soundtrack isn't an album! It's a collection of songs! nono.gif

    R.I.P. Mark Sandman

    Paul's Boutique - Beastie Boys

    Electric Ladyland - Jimi Hendrix

    London Calling - The Clash

    Workingman's Dead - Grateful Dead

    Innervisions - Stevie Wonder

RIP is right. I probably saw Morphine more then any other band- they used to play Philly a lot- and they were surprisingly awesome live. He was a great frontman, with a really great dry wit. His death was one of the most devastating for me, right up there with Jeff Buckley.

This is one of my five favorite songs, although it's a terrible introduction to the band, since nothing else they ever did sounds like it:

That's my favorite Morphine song but it kind of makes me cry so I cant listen to it often. There's a DVD about his life. From what I can gather this is a song about his younger brother who died young. Heartbreaking. Also, FUCK DREAMWORKS. His estate produced a double disc featuring outtakes and whatnot. Dreamworks agreed to let them use out-takes from "The Night" but then rescinded the request at the last minute. There's still some good songs on that set though. It's 'Sandbox' by Mark Sandman.

  5. None of my stores carried Marvel Wave 18 TRU Wave 17 either. I haven't seen any Marvel comic-based minimates on sale in a Toys R Us store since the AVX Box Set.

  6. The flipside to the peghole debate is the Pathfinder Ghoul set. One character came with a black cape and hood. The other had a blue body and came with an alternate skull head. Immediately you think easy Skelator custom but then you realize that the skull head doesnt have a hole but the black hood has a peg. So the hood doesnt fit on the skull.

  7. My package arrived yesterday. I don't know who my Secret Santa is. The only potential clue was a Hello Kitty Christmas card. Lots of candy and individual wrapped goodness.

First up are Lego-like Fantastic Four which is a wonderful gift. I have two young sons and they are not yet allowed to play with the minimates, but they will love these toys as stocking stuffers.

Here we see the Fantastic Four.

    Here we see Doom Triumphant!!

There was also a Silver Surfer and I think a Flame On Human Torch. Cool presents.

Of course, what we are all interested in is the minimates. Here wee see a re-enactment of a typical Junior Prom from the early 90s.

Thank you Secret Santa, you are the best thing ever.
