  1. Sounds pretty plausible. Upon further reflection, although I know that it seems this will never happen, this seems like the perfect movie to think outside the box and do a mixed movie/comic wave. A couple of movie 2 packs to cover the obvious characters along with a comic hank Pym in one of his guises along with a new wasp and a couple of their classic villains such as whirlwind and...uh...ultron(?) and it seems like there's something to please everybody!
  2. Personally very happy if this movie doesn't take up another whole wave if that means we can get an extra comic wave or two. I would've thought a boxset or the afore-mentioned 2 pack would cover this movie pretty well for a lot of people.
  3. +2. Well, unless they are inline behind the MUCH more (in my opinion) overdue supplemental sets of new classic avengers, inhumans, gotg and even new spidey villains of course lol.
  4. Give me an Uatu (preferably with eyes!) and I'll be happy. If we don't get him in some kind of tie-in to this, I fear we may never. I think Jedi's line-up is the most logical although maybe Gamora could use her new-found movie star status to replace Fury, since even though he was major to the story there was an update of him not long ago in the AoU set. Would be nice to see an Orb but if it's a choice between him and Uatu, then for me it's Uatu every time. I don't see TRU doing a set without at least two A-listers though so if (bif if!) this happens I still expect to see a couple of slots going to wolverine, cap, iron man etc.
  5. Just got these (thanks Luke!) and have to say they are as awesome in hand as in the pictures! The likenesses are the best in my opinion of any set of "real life" characters in the whole minimate line. Also nice to get such a comprehensive character line-up!
  6. Yeah I hear what you are saying Valo - DST has given us an awesome range of comic characters over the years, much more than any other line, but the character diversity really seems to have dried up in the last year or two. Much as I enjoy the movies they seem to be the primary cause of this and it would be nice to see that trend change again.
  7. Three non-movie marvel TRU waves and not Xmen related is awesome news!! Nothing against Xmen but they are not my favourite bit of the MU and they have had a LOT of love lately - I'm really hoping for some comic guardians - especially if they included some classic ones - and some avengers! Gives me hope for a brighter year next year for comic fans!
  8. Absolutely! Although it does seem very early for this thread, some new classic avengers characters please! The line's movie preoccupation already looks to be in full swing for next year but I guess we got a classic xmen set at SDCC last year so my slim hopes for some new avengers or west coast avengers rest squarely there for the time being.
  9. Welcome to the 'verse Cute Cult. Nice to see somebody else who wants those classic avengers, inhuman and asgardian females - they've been top of my list for ages! Sadly I'm not expecting any of them to be crossed off any time soon though.
  10. Mindless Ones and classic dormammu would be my main wants and the only ones I'd remotely see as realistic (and even those I'm not sure have much chance of getting made) though a wong and clea would also be nice.
  11. I don't know much about either event tbh and would rather have boxsets based on older more classic events or teams such as the west coast avengers or inhumans. However, if any of them can get us some new characters, especially enchantress, that would be cool. I'm still kind of hoping for an original sin set to get us a watcher, but I don't know if that chance has passed us by? Either way, it seems to me about time we got a new boxset announcement though...
  12. Wow, what an awesome and comprehensive set of stickers, and talking as someone who plans to buy 2 full sets that is great news!
  13. I also fear for how this will affect the comic line. I just hope DST decides to make comic versions of some of these new movie stars like the inhumans before the embargo around the time the movies come out prevent it and we only end up getting movie 'mates of them. On a positive note, some of the movies sound pretty cool!
  14. Yeah I've got to be honest, I am just off to buy my burning torch to wave lol. There are two things I instantly look for in a wave: new characters and classic versions of them! Thus, I am pretty disappointed by this news. I really had high hopes for some new classic avengers characters in this wave. I really hope we do get at least a couple next year, though my expectations are suitably lowered. Thanks for the hints as ever though Zach. On a more positive note, it is good to hear there will be (at least!) 4 villains again. I'm a bit behind on my new comic reading right now but, assuming the wave is avengers based, I would guess the heroes are going to be the latest versions of the big 4 - if so at least she thor would be interesting. As for the villains I would have thought that loki is close to a "lock" and I'm a bit surprised no one has guessed ultron - I'd have thought he's pretty current! I also would have said maybe thanos but him being in the tru set may make him doubtful. Other than that I don't know if red skull's about at the moment - he always seems a likely candidate for an avengers villain?
  15. I'm all for a classic avengers wave myself, and Polarboy's choices would be awesome, especially swordsman and mantis. The vs kind of wave similar to 60 would also be good (under siege springs to mind as the obvious choice here) but I would definitely like to fill in some of the missing classic characters before yet more modern versions of characters we already have. A classic gotg wave would also be cool but I think avengers is much more likely.
  16. Have to agree with a couple of the points being made here - for the most part DST does an awesome job with the movie likenesses, and if we get comic gotg figures at TRU - or anywhere - as a result of the movie then I will be very happy, especially if that includes the classic team!
  17. Speaking as somebody else who laments over the lack of comic waves this year due to all the movie waves, I think there is another element to the discussion. That is that even if the number of actual comic as opposed to movie minimates released is similar, the vast increase in movie waves means that by the time the "heavy hitters" and redos of suddenly prominent "movie stars" are factored in there are much fewer spaces left for new characters, and as a long time collector that is what I want to see. That may sound a little harsh having just had the excellent wave 60 revealed, but if you look at this year as a whole we will have had two new characters since wave 54 back in January, and one of those is thane who, with all due respect, probably wasn't high on many wishlists. Clearly if the line can only keep going in that format then it's preferable to no new marvel minimates at all, but it is very different to how the line started out - as classic comic based - and to what attracted me to it. Thus, going back to Danni's original point (I think! lol), if we do end up getting waves from the Netflix shows, the potential problem with that for the "comic" fans is that it will just add to the movie waves and thus reduce the comic waves further. Having said all of that I understand Zach's point that this year was the exception rather than the rule, and I'm liking the sound of 61 being comic based as well as 60. Personally I'm rooting for some new classic avengers and their villains!
  18. Wow, what a great wave! Even as someone who's not particularly an xmen fan it's great to get the brotherhood, especially blob, and they all look great to me! Not a massive fan of that particular xmen costume but I love the concept of all the extra swappable heads - that really is something I would love to see more often where possible - it makes great business sense in order to sell multiple packs and gives the fans a great chance to build teams! Oh, and the banshee face looks pretty awesome!
  19. I'm kinda mixed on this. While I feel sorry for those who would have wanted them, I'm pretty happy if it means one less movie wave next year to get in the way of comic releases. I also feel that I have great versions of all the FF themselves and many of their villains/supporting cast, especially after the excellent wave 48 etc. However, there are still a few villains I would have liked, especially the frightful four, and if it did stop us getting the inhumans I would be very disappointed - not that there seems much sign of us getting them anyway though!
  20. Well as we know, speculation is frequently a thankless task (lol) but while I would love some of the characters being talked about here, especially the black knight/masters of evil to be made, I really do think all the signs for this wave point to it being x-related and to mystique's brotherhood being included. They would certainly be very welcome, as would banshee and sunfire were they to happen. However, the few comic releases that we have had lately have been very (in fact almost exclusively apart from Luke's set) "x heavy" so as someone who is much more interested in the avengers side of the universe, am I the only one who's pretty intrigued by Zach's "avengers" comments about next year?? I'm really hoping that means we get some new unmade classic avengers and villains!
  21. Well, I think I'll have more days where I don't visit the MMV - seems like more news happens lol. Anyway, thanks for posting all those pics Zach, much better than just seeing the line-up in one go! Guess I may as well throw in a few comments on this wave while I'm here. First and foremost it's great to see that we finally have another TRU comic wave! That said, I'm in the camp that always prefers new characters over redos and then classic over modern, but I realise that TRU waves these days don't really go for obscure characters too much so this is probably as good as you can expect really. My random thoughts on the choices are: Ronan: great - a new classic character and villain!! Iron Man - no real opinion, not one of my favourite looks for him but if he gets us a ronan then he's all good in my book lol. EOTE Spidey - not a look I know but a cool looking variant. Mysterio - looks nice what I can see but I agree with those who didn't think he really needed updating as the first is very good. Seems like a slightly wasted opportunity to give us a new spidey villain or maybe an updated kraven with a sculpted vest if going down the redo route. Quicksilver - a good update and nice to see a different avenger and so glad it's the classic look! Hope we get him in green soon too. Vision - very welcome though would have liked the classic look in solid form more as we don't have that. However, he's a good choice with Avengers 2 in mind. Wolverine/Sentinel - not to my taste really but I understand these kind of packs are probably needed to attract TRU to carry the line so fair enough.
  22. Wow, those look great! I too grew up on that era of comics and I really wish DST would make more from that time, on the lines of the Strange Tales boxset. I don't know all of the characters but it's great that you put reference pics next to the customs and they look like superb likenesses!
  23. Yeah count me in as someone who would MUCH rather the lines were split. Now that there are so many movies coming out each year the comic line seems to get pushed to the background, and yet they are what I collect the line for.
