  1. The chin reminds me more of his "brute" incarnation in Mutant X. And I'm holding out judgement, as somehow Immomen always seems to draw a heavy shadow on Beast's head, so I don't really know what his new look looks like in full sunlight.
  2. So with this and wave 50 - we have two straight waves with a Nova figure! Proof that minimates is the best toyline EVER.....
  3. I don't know about everyone else, but I had just gotten into comics when "Revenge of the Sinister Six" came out in adjectiveless Spider-Man. Erik Larsen was on the top of his game, with a huge story, great visuals, guest stars, all that. I have the old Toy Biz figure because I loved that story so much, and now I am super excited to get the figure. If you haven't read it, I think they made a new printing of the trade that just came out. It's 90s, and silly, but well worth it.
  4. Commander Rogers was totally on the ballot for series 50. He lost to Songbird. By a wide margin. Not sure when we'll be announcing, but I think we need to solicit 49, 50 and 51 in fairly rapid succession, fairly soon. You're totally right Zach, my bad. I was just having flashbacks to the "Commander Rogers is not Cap" argument that went on in the Wave 50 thread forever. But a white alternate head and translucent shield for a Nick Fury Jr still would be really awesome......
  5. I think Nick Fury Jr. is definitely a lock, since Commander Rogers wasn't on the ballot for Wave 50. Can't wait to get him and make a custom Steve Rogers Super Soldier!
  6. I just got my set in yesterday, and I have to say - this is why I collect minimates! Not only are the X-Men my favorite, but the fact that they even got to these more obscure looks and characters - awesome! And the accessories - there was so many extra things in the trays! Colossus with 4 extra hands! An extra chest piece, feet, boot cuffs, and still they put a stand in for him? Two custom hands for Longshot! Extra arms and hair for Dazzler for both looks! With so many toy lines cutting back on extras (looking at you, Marvel Legends.....) it's great to see a line that really does care about fans and giving a great value.
  7. It kills me everyone comparing this to DC's New 52. It's the same thing Marvel has been doing for the last few years, just putting a banner on the top of their titles to show the shift in focus after events. After Secret Invasion, we had Dark Reign; after Siege, we had the Heroic Age; now we have Marvel NOW. I'm enjoying that they take it a different direction every once in a while, gives it a fresh feeling. Yes, things will be back to the status quo eventually, it's comics. But if the ride is enjoyable, that's what matters. Although that last page of Uncanny Avengers.....yikes.
  8. yeah, I noticed the same thing. Guess I'll just have to keep checking the TRU brick store. Luckily there are a few near me, between them, it hasn't been too hard to get. I just can't wait to get that Havok & Storm to complete the Outback X-Men that are coming soon!
  9. I agree, the style looks better on the transformers, and some of them look worse than others (Scarlett and Snake Eyes), but after collecting minimates and the transformer kreons, Lego minifigs look way weirder to me, with their triangle shaped torsos. I'm excited for this line, although I can think of a dozen vehicles and figures that already need to be added!
  10. I think looking at the 2 Captain Britains would show that slipover masks are superior. At least when the mask exposes part of the face. With characters like Spider-Man, I could take either actually.
  11. I can't wait! I love the Transformers Kreons, but the robot modes of the builds look so terrible, I have all of them in vehicle mode. And GI Joe is easily one of the top two toy lines for vehicles! (the other being Star Wars, of course, but we know that's taken.) Get me a HISS Tank, Skystriker, maybe a little Ferret, AWE Striker, Trouble Bubble, Stun....just thinking of the possibilities makes me so excited! Just hope they make little Kreon Tomax and Xamot.....
  12. Waspinator isn't so bad....of course, I love Beast Wars. You just have to make him unlike they tell you to in the instructions, so he takes advantage of the details that make him actually look like Waspinator. First, lose the repainted Jazz helmet, so you can see his bug face. Next, I took off the torso cover so you could see the chest with the Predacon symbol. Then I put that over his legs, and attached the wasp "butt" piece like it was coming from his waist, as it should be. You don't get the wings that way, but in my opinion, it makes it look much more like Waspinator.
  13. So far, all I've seen is the first wave of the blind packed figures. I got all of them. No sign of the Kreon combiners though....
  14. I have all of these figures.....it's amazing how well they captured John Byrne's style in a mass market toy line. And Puck's action feature wasn't great, but best spring loaded cartwheeling toy? Spider-man & Friends Beast! So great.
  15. This totally looks like it should be a haiku.
  16. I wonder if they've considered some sort of sculpted extra hands to allow Northstar & Aurora to hold hands? That would be amazing!
  17. I have to say, as much as some of the ones that I voted for didn't make it, I'm still very happy with the wave. I'm not a big ghost rider fan, but other than that, the rest are all minimates that I will be happy to buy. So when the problem is that there was too many good choices, that seems like a good problem to have.
  18. As long as it means we'd get 2 two-packs to round out the Phoenix Five....and they've been really good about completing sets like that.
  19. I bet if we gave you guys chocolate Minimates, you'd immediately ask for chocolate Minimates with crispies in them. Ah, the vocal minority at it again....( Sorry Dino) Not everyone Zach , there are many of us quiet folk who appreciate and realize how many chocolate crispies that you already put in our minimates Hey. I wasn't asking if we were getting them. Zach said that they liked the designs. I was just wondering how much, and what exactly the license covers. This wasn't a complaint, but rather a query for information. Dude, I was just teasin'. I know it wasn't a complaint, I just love how every new character or property mentioned gets Multiversers (not just you) thinking about what might be next, be it DC or Silverhawks or MOTU, none of which I'm going to bother addressing, because each of them is highly unlikely for different reasons. Your suggestion would have been more likely, although I imagine the series getting cancelled bodes ill for that. But I don't know anything -- this is AFX's baby, I'm just happy to be on the Thundertrain. And I agree, this may be the most Minimate-appropriate license ever. Something about the colors and simplicity of 1980s cartoons lends itself well, and having the characters be mostly standard human shapes helps. MOTU, G.I. Joe, Bionic Six... all would make great 'Mates. But Thundercats has just enough physical variety and distinctive coloring to maximize the Minimate design's strengths. But I digress. Enjoy tomorrow... OMG! Zach said Bionic Six! You can't take it back now! That would blow my mind if they ever got made. And come on, no cries for MASK minimates? They would be great!
  20. She was always super white in the comics. From Nova Roma, basically Ancient Rome in modern times. Blond and light skinned. Even though Nova Roma was in South America.....Magma's origin never really made much sense...
  21. I think it'd definitely have to be a new big license, to get them back in the Walmarts and Targets. Plus, add in some cross-promotional things. I'm thinking like how Lego did the video games, the Lego Star Wars and Lego Batman series are killing it for them right now. So since Star Wars and DC are out, since it's already been done, I'd say the other biggest licenses out there have to be either Transformers or GI Joe. Transformers would be a tough sell I think, since the main purpose is to, you know, transform....plus we saw how well the Kre-O did with that. GI Joe has some potential though.....that and Star Wars I think has been the best about having a deep line of figures, plus vehicles as well. Add the minimate asthetic, and a good video game to get the visibility up, you'd have a killer combo. Once that caught on, it'd pave the way to make a Marvel video game too maybe, bring the Marvel 'mates back into the mass market.... Completely wishful thinking, but I think it could work.
  22. I'm such a casual collector, and really haven't been around the boards too much before, I'm amazed at the things I have that other people consider grails. I got the Warpath and X-Factor Angel just because I needed to finish my X-Factor lineup, grabbed the Bullseye/Moonstone set with no problem, and Hulkbuster Iron Man because he's awesome. Never knew they were that scarce. A grail of mine I finally got was two Angels, original X-Men and Archangel; I'm terribly cheap and had to find just the right ebay auctions. Grail still trying to get: Scarlet Spider.
  23. Ouch. I actually saw a loose Scarlet Spider at a con this weekend, left it, and when I came back later, it was gone. I was devastated. And now I see that there are hordes of them just sitting there....painful for sure.
  24. I figure this set is clearly based on the early Byrne Alpha Flight issues....those first 25 (or so) were really great. It did go downhill pretty fast after Bryne left, but in the end, no matter who kills off the characters, who takes their place, if they come back or not, those 25 issues are still a good solid story, and I'm glad to have the minimates to represent it.
  25. Amazing! Can't wait to get this set. Of course, waiting for that Box Set #2 as well....hope Aurora comes with special hands so her & Northstar can hold hands. And btw....Beast Wars was amazing. Great characterization, tie in with G1, good toys.....just try and forget Beast Machines that came after it.
