    Wave 60

Marvel Universe just did Bishop and Jim Lee Beast…finally, but still no Banshee, Forge, Jubilee (in 90s costume) or 90s Storm. Marvel Select and POP Vinyls have come out with a few nice 90s X-men, but nowhere near a team. It really is just Minimates all the way.

    Wave 60

Sooooooo excited for this wave. Minimates are really my X-men of choice. Though I love many eras of the team, for me, it is really all about the Jim Lee Blue and Gold teams (and the animated series team). Minimates is really the only place we can get a full line up (especially now with Banshee and Forge) where the characters are all the same style, scale, correct costumes etc. A few other toylines have come close (Marvel Universe and Marvel Legends) but there is always a dud in there somewhere or someone in the wrong costume, height, bad sculpt. Not so with the mini mates. Now we have some upgrade pieces coming for 90s Jubilee, a Banshee and a Forge, and more awesome X-villains! Not sure what my point is except that I'm excited. Really, really glad to see these guys coming soon, and I can't wait to see what is coming up in the future!
  3. I doubt this would have enough appeal for the casual buyer, but I would really love to see a Jean Grey Through the Ages set. It would be the perfect place for our Marvel Girl in green dress. There could be a Jean in her original civilian attire when she first came to Xavier's (poodle skirt, pillbox hat), A new stab at Dark Phoenix with awesome effects would be cool (though I know she wasn't literally Dark Phoenix); then you could also throw in Jean in the yellow and red X-factor get-up or any number of her modern costumes. She could also come with a little translucent cocoon to keep her suspended under Jamaica Bay while Phoenix runs amok in her place.
  4. I don't follow the modern stuff at all, so a lot of these guys and costumes are new to me. I'm definitely down for a new Apocalypse who is more bulked up and menacing. I may also do the Hobgoblin if he can be used as an upgrade to my original. Other than that, I think I will pass on the rest, but it's cool to see new characters and looks. My wallet is ok not having to have every single one (unlike Wave 60).
  5. I just got this set today from my LCS, and it is awesome! Very 1990s Toy Biz feel! Makes me REALLY want a Warpath and a Sunspot plus a Siryn for sure! I'm still amazed at the breadth we have to choose from with the minimates. 3 different Sam Guthries to choose from!? I love that even though they have certainly improved over the years, they are still all compatible in terms of scale, design, etc. I can't wait to see what's in the works next! Oh, and Wave 60 needs to hurry up! Wes

    Wave 60

Sooooo excited! I can now retire/ebay a bunch of my customs now as well. I can reassemble the original Psylocke, Jubilee and Gambit that had to be sacrificed to make my custom guys! Do we know if Gambit's trench coat will be included?

Oh right! I need to keep up with the clues. i kinda got lost in terms of who was a new character, who was a redo, etc. But I definitely do remember that there was no overlap, so Jean is out.

    Wave 60

Really can't wait to find out about this wave at NYCC, even more so if it is going to be the last X-men wave we get for a while. The Brotherhood seems like a lock to me, so it's really just who those heroes are. If some of us are off the mark with the Jim Lee uniforms, I really hope it is some Classic X-men goodness. I'd love to see Banshee and Sunfire finally. A redo of Thunderbird or Classic Storm would also be awesome. Then there is always Jean in the green minidress! Maybe it will even be a combination of the two possibilities… Male and female Jim Lee X-uniform team members (maybe with parts for others) with the rest of the slots filled in with classic X-men heroes. All questions will be answered soon. Wes

I really think we are on to something with the blue and gold suited X-men and the Brotherhood. If so, I'm going to be over the moon! If Banshee is only in the 90s suit with no green suit parts, I'll be slightly sad…but that doesn't mean we couldn't get a classic one later on (with Sunfire)! This time around, I'm really thinking: 4 new villains = Pyro, Blob, Avalanche, Destiny, 1 redo = Wolverine, 2 new heroes = Forge and Banshee, 4 females = Destiny, Storm in blue and gold suit with Jubilee and Psylocke heads, and since they said 2 teams would be completed, parts for Gambit must be in the mix with Wolverine, Banshee or Forge. Totally epic wave if it comes to pass! Right on par with the FF wave and the Outback X-men wave, which have been my favorites thus far! I still really want that X-factor wave at some point, but that really may make a better exclusive box set or two (ala Alpha Flight). Hopefully the slow sales of the Alpha Flight sets on the after-market haven't soured the chances of someone picking up an exclusive like this.

Hey Zach, could you tell us how many of the figures in this wave (if any) are female?

    Wave 60

I am REALLY hoping that the Brotherhood is coming! Pyro, Blob, Avalanche and Destiny would be amazing, and they would go so well with the Days of Future Past set that was just released. As for the heroes, I really loved the idea mentioned earlier of Banshee coming with parts to make Siryn and Thunderbird (who is still dead too…right?) coming with parts to make Warpath. I'd instantly buy two of each! And those guys would go so nicely with the X-force box set coming out. Then maybe the other heroes would be Sunfire (just cuz) and either a Wolverine anchor (maybe blue and gold for people to army build/customize into other x-members), or (wishful thinking) a redo of classic Storm or Scullcap Cyclops? Soooo excited to see what we get here.

    Wave 60

I am so excited for this wave! No clue at all what is going to be in it, but if it is X-men goodness, I am sold. X-men in their blue and gold uniforms, X-factor..whatever it is, I can't wait! Really hoping there could be a Banshee and a Forge in there if there are indeed X-men in Blue and Gold uniforms coming. I made my own customs, but the real deal would be pretty awesome! Hurry up, NYCC! This mystery needs to be solved!
  13. Just got this set in the mail…and wow!!!! I love story-themed box sets like this anyway, but this one just blew everything out of the water! I was concerned that Wolverine's coat looked "off", like many others, but getting him in hand, it was a different story. He looks great! Very evocative of the character from DOFP. Mystique was amazing, and such a perfect upgrade! The Senator Kelly head was awesome (the little extras always are!) and I promptly stuck it on an extra suit-body I had purchased for just such an occasion. The morphing head was very cool, but maybe a Raven head would have been a tad cooler and more useful. Kitty looked great, and I am sooooo glad that she had the parts for the green jumpsuit look. Very cool that people can recreate the iconic cover, but to me, Future Kitty needs to have the bun and be in the jumpsuit. Also, the Sentinel was very, very nice. I liked that he was taller, and the colors were excellent. This whole set was a big home run in my opinion. I hope we see some more classic-themed box sets like this in the future! Bring on Phoenix Saga and Dark Phoenix Saga!!!
  14. Any news on any classic Turtles sets??? We really need some box sets ala Thundercats and Ghostbusters!
  15. Pyro, Avalanche, Blob and Toad are absolute musts! Really surprised it has taken this long. Mastermind could go in a Dark Phoenix Saga set or some kind of Hellfire Club set. I'm sure a Wolverine or someone slightly more marketable would need to go in there too, but they could make it happen!
