  1. I’ve been collecting since I first picked up wave 1 of the Marvel series at Suncoast, and the clearanced Trek ones at Target. I’ve been able to get 99% of them at retail - up until Walgreens. Wave 8 and up - lost me. I’ve only seen Avengers BC and Captain Marvel since then.
Walgreens doesn’t seem to know what to do with them. If they had an online presence beyond that one wave, I’d probably still be all in. But my interest in the past year has barely gone beyond buying Luke’s customs. I’m just too busy with life and family to make the fruitless retail runs anymore.
If anything kills this line, it will be undoubtedly distribution, not interest. I’d love to find any of those missing waves. But time spent with my family and daughters is too precious to waste on “the hunt”. Give me an online presence and I’ll bite. But I’m not chasing them into every Walgreens with an open wallet while they run away from me, daring me to catch them just for the privilege of buying them.

I have to say...I think I've jumped ship.... The last set of Minimates I bought was the Doppelganger/Venom pack.

This past weekend I went to a Walgreens after a long hiatus just to see what was there. Still no wave 8, 9 or 10. However I happily purchased a Marvel Legends Mystique and Genis-Vell for 13.99 each, leaving behind the Captain Marvel movie minimates.

I actually did consider him, but I have been trying to make new characters that have not been released in a different costume. Also I feel like this is a character that people would want 3 or 4 of, which I wouldn't be able to offer. What do you guys think - would you want him and would a one per person limit be ok?

You could always do a one per person, but create a multiple man backdrop with numerous others to include with him.

Presumably to emulate the Spot's abilities as best DST could. Also, I love the alt. head for Spot. These sets look great, Zach.

If only he had an extra white Puck hand to hold the stand out in front of him like a portal.... Like the extra head though!

  5. I found two packs today while there looking for Marvel Legends. Shock of shocks, new minimates. Only two though because there was no more room on the pegs with waves 7 and previous rotting there.

BTW, very happy to finally complete the Marvel Legends Fantastic Four with the Thing! It's a great figure!

Why oh why do some sellers bother with the best offer option?

I realise this is nothing worth getting upset over, but people genuinely baffle me. Who knows maybe I'm missing something. Case in point a recent lot was priced at $20 or best offer so I put in an offer of $15 and it was declined. This is fine and all but no counter offer was given so I don't even know If I'm in the same ball park (and the seller has the option of placing a reserve so silly offers can be dealt with straight away). Anyway put in a new offer of $17 and this time received a counter offer of $19.60. Am I the only one that thinks if you want or need the $20 for some reason just don't bother with the god damm best offer option.

Ahh sometimes its good to rant lol

I’m with you on that. If the seller counters with less than a dollar reduction, I will decline and write off the auction entirely. Seems like a pointless thing to do if that’s all they’re going to offer.

Figures like this, for example. These companies have been taking Mego-style figures to the next level for a while now. All Marty Abrams can offer at this point is a logo.

I guess what appeals to me is that I don't want or need figures that are the "next level". I look at Megos with the eyes of my 6 year old self, not the with the blurred vision of the 47 year old eyes I have today.

I don't know if they reflect the original packaging from back in the day but those single carded figures have some seriously ugly graphics and I imagine most people who buy them would want to keep them moc.

Oh, they will be opened and displayed with my originals. I've bought vintage ones and they were opened as well. These are childhood loves, not investments. They were my first exposure to Super Hero toys and have a special place in my collection.

And, they are out. Went looking for Sulu and found Chekov today! Didn't even know Chekov was part of the release. He has Kirk and Spock pictured on his package instead of the Gorn and Roman. Lots of other licenses, but no Sulu, Action Jackson or Mirror Mirror 2-pack.

Guess you didn't have an imagination as a child? That's why Mattel thrived on a thousand different stupid costumes for batman. A cool looking figure is a cool looking figure no matter the name on the box

My imagination carries through to this day. But times have changed over the last 40+ years. Kids have changed. Without media recognition, a cool figure isn’t necesarily a wanted figure. My own girls might give me a shrug when I show them Battle Beasts, but the TRU Parker/Spidey costume change minimate gets oohs and ahhs and “that’s cool”. And in my house, Chewie and Groot figures wins hand down because when it’s up to my girls, obscurity doesn’t have a chance.

I kind of like the new ghost rider. Might light it up like my other one.

I haven't watched the cartoon, but if they attached the Johnny Blaze name to a Dance Ketch design AGAIN, eh I don't even know what to expect out of these shows. Also this is not what I've meant in the years of saying we need a new classic Dan ghost rider. ?

In the cartoon, the Ghost Riders are a group of Mad Max Road Warrior type gang summoned by the Beyonder to stop the heroes. They all seemed pretty mindless, although a couple had some cool looks.

It's an alternate universe story involving a version of the Avengers in 1,000,000 BC...

    The main Avengers are here:

And the big purple robot is a Celestial that they fight in the story.

So basically alternate versions of Thor, Ghost rider, Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Phoenix, Hulk, and Panther with a Celestial.

How are these characters, with no A-list characters, going to get a single non comic collector to go to walgreens to buy these? I can just hear the conversation played out like this "Hey Mom, can I get a Spider-Man toy? Sure son,...oh wait, I don't see any... oh what about this caveman looking guy and the bald woman in a green bikini? No thanks mom...do they have a Black Panther? Yes son, but...he's naked. Oh. Mom,  can I just get a hot wheels?"

If the BC Avengers are a different UPC/Stock# (they should be) they should be easy to find. Several comic waves later when that same UPC/Stock# is still being used for each wave is when all the trouble will start.

I think the bigger overlying problem is that they just don't have the shelf space. They already take up 2 pegs at most stores. I don't see any other lines with more space than that. It's not a dominant toy brand in a store that's not a toy store. It's a losing recipe either way.

  13. I wish I could say I can't wait, but seeing as how I've yet to see Infinity War wave 2, Animated series 8 or Animated series 9 in any Walgreens, I'm pretty sure the 2 full pegs of older series, currently sitting untouched everywhere, will not have room for multiple comic based or animated lines for a very long time, if ever. That Walgreens exclusive sticker might as well have a big middle finger on it.

  14. So that means I might actually try to fill my Mego collection with official Megos of Sulu and Chekov (and whoever else from DC and Marvel and other lines) instead of these upstart Mego wannabe companies from the last few years.
