Sorry I haven't posted any unboxing pictures. I had this crazy idea to re-create the teaser posters, and it kinda took over my brain. I posted these two on Twitter so far:
Have actually finished all eight, but can't access them right now, or I'd give you a bonus.
Quick breakdown:
- Hawkeye comes with three arrows (four molded in quiver), plus extra non-sunglasses head.
- Hulk comes with extra very angry head.
- Thor's hair has changed from the prototype to (I believe) the old Thor movie hair.
- Fury's trenchcoat is shiny like Michael Knight's jacket. Pistol and rocket launcher.
- Iron Man gets a different helmet than seen in the prototype, although you may have already seen it at Toy Fair.
- They're all amazing.

Thats the starting Tekken Line-up???
How do you begin without at least Kazuya, Heihachi, or Jin? It sounds like they are trying to kill the series before it begins by picking characters like Lili and Steve Fox? I think DST screwed the pooch on those Tekken choices, they need to start drug testing!!
It might just be careful planning.
Like how the Ghostbusters box sets where always “Two Ghostbusters, Two other characters” (unless it was a stand alone 4 pack the the GB2 uniforms, or 3 Ghost sets) so both sets have headliners to carry the lesser characters this wave is all SF heavy hitters (except for Poison) you could put Ken, Cammy, Guile, Sagat, and Zangief in a box with 70 angry bees and even casual SF fans would probably pick it up.
I bet wave 2 is all Tekken headliners paired with “WTF!” Street Fighter choices (Rufus, Abel, Ju.... you know what let’s just make this list short: “anyone not in SF2”)
I also just realized we’re probably not getting everyone since I’ve only seen the cast divided by teams until Pawcanada’s last post... FIFTY characters?! that’s 9 waves (well 8 and some change) without DLC it’s 7 (6 and some spares) seeing as how Ghostbusters didn’t even get 7 waves and was at one point out selling Marvel and the game will be 4 months old before wave 1 even hits I don’t think SFxT is going to make it to the VERY end.
50 characters is a lot. BUT if you count the specialty and TRU assortments as one shared wave, we'll have 36 characters by the end of wave 3. I can't imagine we'll do less than that. And I'm not a huge Tekken fan, but this wave still has some A-listers in it. King? Nina? The fact that I know who they are tells me they're pretty famous. Combined with the SF characters, most of whom are A-list, it's a strong assortment. Wave 2 will have plenty of big Tekken dudes, but also some big SF names.

show us the pics, just don't tell use the names of the villians, if they're anything like the legos we'll still have no idea what the hell they are!
I think by now you know that Minimates are nothing like Legos.

Wow, if you share the redacted pics/piss early, will that impact your job? Like won't Marvel just demand you pull them down and be pissed/piced that you shared ahead of time?
We'll, I just won't share those, then. Everybody got the pis out of their system now?

Have a set of samples in my hot little hands. Pure win. Will try to share pics soon...

Wearing a blue-black sweater-vest today in honor of Ditko.
-
1. I love sweater vests, they were just shorthand for "nerd" in the 1960s.
2. I like a good Ditko Parker, too, I just couldn't figure our what that forelock was in that pic. I was trying to find a shot of a real Superman-style spit-curl (I could have sworn I'd seen one somewhere), but settled for that. REGARDLESS, first appearance Peter Parker had plenty of product in his hair, it was just that he used it to make it flat, not puffy.
-
DST..... PLEASE MAKE THIS SET!!!
I would definitely purchase this set, one for my collection and maybe a few more for other Hulk related customs!!
MUST BE MADE!
Oh, all right...
-
I do think he'll acquire the costume somewhere, a bit like Kick Ass. People have said it looks a bit (lot) like a motorcross (or one of those other silly sports) suit.
The constant comparisons of Garfield to R-Patz... is it all because he has big hair? After all, he doesn't look anything like him beyond that.
For those who haven't already made there mind up about this film, and aren't really aware of Garfield or his work, I can promise he is a wonderful actor, and knows how to pick a role. Huge Spidey fan as well, from childhood.
Boy A, Never Let Me Go, Red Riding... can't recommend them enough.
I agree with all of it. And remember that Peter Parker has pretty much always been portrayed as traditionally handsome. I've never seen him drawn as ugly, or even as Tobey Maguire quirky. He's a square-jawed dude. Yes, he wore some unfortunate sweater-vests and (gasp) glasses early on, but after a while he was wearing contacts and Members Only jackets like the best of them. And as far as hair product go, it could be worse -- he could have a Ditko spit-curl.

My only quibble would be that it would have been cool if DST had put the other hairpiece on the variant, but I'm not a MIP guy so I guess it doesn't really matter.
Sure, we make the blond agent the rare chase, then for some reason Aunt May comes with mostly redheaded agents, and next thing you know you guys are calling it "SHIELDGate" and our list of major screw-ups gets one longer. No thanks!
But I'm glad people like the wave! Can't wait to get mine...

Great work, everyone. Especially Bob!

So really, we are of 2 camps.
1: "SM3 sucked. Thank goodness for a reboot!"
2: "This new movie looks awful, and is an unnecessary reboot. SM3 wasn't that bad."
That about sum it up?
Three camps.
3. "Crap, they're still debating Andrew Garfield. When will they start talking about that swell DST product again? Man, DST is awesome."
-
Utterly unnecessary, but you're welcome!

Great Dracula shot, funkguerilla! And send me your Oreos, geohound! I'm currently fiending. Gotta get my friend to bring me my Girl Scout cookies, stat.
-
I don’t like that the Stacys (Stacies? Staci?) look nothing like Emma Stone or Dennis Leary.
I’m sure they’ll be fine as representations of the movie characters or the comic characters or whatever, but they don’t look they’ll work for Zombieland or Rescue Men fodder.
I LOVE Rescue Men!
-
8. by now i dont need an 8th thing
8. DENNIS LEARY.
But seriously, I like Andrew Garfield and Rhys Ifans as actors, and as much as I've enjoyed other Raimi films, I look forward to a movie that's not partially tongue-in-cheek.
-
Picked up my set of this wave yesterday. Really impressed with everyone. One downside, the SHIELD agent that came with my Aunt May has two right legs. Fortunately, I had two others, with another two on the way from Luke, but it still kinda sucks, cause these little guys are so cool, and I totally want an army of them.
Contact customer service.

I thought I was gonna cry when I got to the shop and there was no Aunt May on the pegs. Bless his heart, the shop owner set her aside just for me. [swoon]
Marry that man.
-
Aaah! Thanks, geohound. Man, I love Stilt-Man. I've been making "The Stilt-Man was here." and even "The most tallest man in the world jokes in my head since I saw it. ("I don't always drink beer, but when I do, look out below!") And that Nightcrawler pic... I need to dress Ben Grimm up like Blackbeard again, stat. And great Man-Spider, Jeff!

Zach... do you know if any of the chest blocks under the bulked up Venom's will have any decals?
Was hoping to swap with the she Venom 'boob' chest to make a different incarnation of Venom.
Failing that, I can grab another Spidey from wave 43, but it'd be good to know in advance. Thanks!
I'll look into it, but give me time.

Sometime frustrations with a toy line are justified. When I first posted here, it was while I was in the middle of writing my weekly blog and was talking about a certain other toy compnay that not only gives bad service, but borders on fraud (okay, probably could have left the words 'borders on' out of that sentence).
I guess my thinking now is that companies like DST sell toys, we choose to purchase them and the relationship is complete there. They offer goods, we pay them, end of obligation. Anything other than that is extra on their part and can't be expected. Customer service, fan interaction and giving explanations are all extras that we've all come to expect to be part of the price that we purchase items for and I think we frequently take it for granted.
Sorry about your experience, groundhog. That whole situation is... unfortunate.
-
I feel like when you have to deal with 'fans' like this on occasion, you probably tend to expect the negative comments after awhile. And if it was me, I'd take it personally also.
And just to add to what's been said, there have been more than just a couple issues brought up with Minimates over the years. In fact, it seems that about every wave someone has some kind of issues with something that's released or how it's released and usually there's a fair amount of heated discussion about it. The only thing that's different now is that we have a representative of DST here. Not that that should change too much, but hopefully that puts a little bit of the complaints into perspective that real people have jobs that make these. It's not just a hobby to them, it's their career. And if we're all honest, we've all screwed something up at our jobs, we just usually don't tick off a huge group of fanboys when we do. Maybe having Zach here will remind us to use our manners like we should do anyways.
Sorry for the soapbox; I really shouldn't post here when I'm mad about something else.
Sorry you're mad about something else, groundhog7s. I hope Minimates somehow make it better.
And I think I've said that no one needs to mind their manners on my account. I know there will always be criticisms of DST on this board -- it's what it's for (the love of Minimates is implied). But I'm not gonna let a shot at DST go by without comment, if I feel it's unjustified. Most of you are quick to defend your own opinions when someone comments on them, so I'll do the same for DST. I don't expect to change hearts and minds, but I will attempt to correct false or unfair perceptions. If this is gonna be a problem, let me know, and I'll scale back my comments and interaction.

I believe The Wave 47 Wolverine claws will be the same ones Brood Wolverine has. Knife blades that get wider towards the ends, a la Liefeld. (My personal favorite claws.)
Good deal Zach...though that's a McFarlane cover. LOVE Todd.
Pwned! I must have had a brain fart, which explains why I couldn't find this cover in a Google search, but I could find that Outback-era fikll-in issue by Liefeld that was a stand-alone parody of DC's Invasion storyline. (I think.) So random.

These are the same prototypes that were at Toy Fair, but I said in the Toy Fair thread that both would ultimately have the razor claws. At least, that is the plan. I can't remember what they said about the boots, though.
