  1. I got the MP 01 "Last Shot" mold and I must admit I've had much more fun with the Japanese speaking base than any 38 year old should. The ungodly scream sound effect is currently my voice greeting on my cell phone.
  2. I have one on mine. After having the rather bulky otter box defender case on my first iPad, I felt like I wanted my iPad 2 to be a bit lighter. I like the auto sleep/wake function, and I keep my iPad in a padded carrying case when not in use so I don't worry about the back of the unit. Technically, I could get by without the smart cover, but I like the added screen protection, and the angle the iPad sits if I fold the cover back for typing. If you want screen protection without a lot of added bulk/weight, the smart cover is a good choice.
  3. Merry Christmas! Hope everyone has a happy, safe holiday.
  4. Liking the wave 44 assortment, but that new Green Goblin has really gotten my attention. I may have to shoot a new avatar pic when I get that one.
  5. I've checked two local TRUs, and nothing so far. The search continues...
  6. Man, Punisher's Joker looks great. I've gotta give that a try. I have an extra hairpiece from my MvC Magneto I can paint green.
  7. I'd be willing to buy new versions of previously released characters to get characters we missed out on last time. As already mentioned, we're buying multiple versions of Spiderman and Wolverine and the Marvel line seems to be doing quite well. Of course, DC seems hell bent to produce any kind of figure they can EXCEPT for Minimates, so I don't expect to see any new DC 'mates ever. :/
  8. I think armored Thor is supposed to have only one brace.
  9. The 2 inch mates are much better than the 3 inch mates in my opinion. My criticism of the old 3 inchers was always that they were too oversized to be block figures. They almost looked silly next to the 2 inchers. Having a larger body for bigger characters like the DC mates was interesting to me. I'm always hoping that some day we'll get this with the Marvel line, but I know it's unlikely. Anyway, to me the best Minimate to date is Deadpool. Two different masks, plus the rotten head underneath and a mess of accessories makes him hard to beat. Honorable mentions: DCD Series 1 Batman. Loved the slip on mask, though I thought I'd hate it after seeing the prototype pic. Disney exclusive Thor. No silly powerhouse torso to restrict movement, and nice paint deco. MvC3 Magneto. Green Goblin (the one in my avatar pic). Nice facial expression and the scaly paint deco looks great. Lots of other great mates, but these are the first that come to mind for me.
  10. Anybody in need of an extra Zero for customs or whatever, let me know.
  11. Got my set today. Everything looked good, but I had a few minor issues with Dawn. Her left leg was rubbing the top of the crotch piece, which I was able to trim down for a proper fit. The left knee joint was also locked up because of too much paint. After some work with an Xacto knife and a bit of freezer time, I was able to work it free. I hope I didn't weaken the joint in the process, but time will tell. Issues aside, I'm happy with my purchase.
  12. Good stuff. I think the Flash getting a ticket is my favorite so far.
  13. I'd like to have that Vulture. Still need him.
  14. Not all shoeboxes of minimates are created equally. I mean, a size 9 box will certainly net you less than a size 13? Seriously though, it'll depend more on what mates you have than how many. If you've got some harder to find mates, you're going to do better than if it's a bunch of commons. P.S. Sorry to see you quit. I've quit before and sold all my stuff to helpl pay for other interests. I wish I'd kept them, because I've paid more getting them back than I got for selling them off. Hope you're really done if you're selling.
  15. I like the Mez-Itz, but I would much rather buy DC Minimates. These Mez-Itz aren't exactly flying off the shelves, either. I couldn't find a single LCS that carried them, and one guy who carries a lot of minimates didn't even know they existed. I don't understand how DCD can't look at the success of Marvel Minimates and not want to make another effort. A little less Ma Hunkel and a little more Two-Face, and DC mates could be hugely successful. Just my opinion, of course.
  16. Anyone in the Cincinnati area, the TRU in Florence, KY still had some after I got my set on Saturday. Haven't been to any other local TRUs.
  17. Magneto is incredibly cool. I bought two of the dark Magnetos because I thought he was going to be THE Magneto to have. MvC Magneto is my new favorite. He looks great and I'll probably end up buying another one just because. As for the clear disc stands, I got them in 3 of the 4 packs. Only Dante & Deadpool didn't have the stands. Is this a fluke?
  18. Nice. Tried one comic store with no luck, but I have another to check this weekend that carries a decent selection of mates.
  19. I have an acrylic Hot Wheels case mounted sideways on my wall. Holds 84 mates. I bought it several years ago, and paid around $60 for it. Don't know if the cost has gone up or stayed about the same, but it makes for a nice display option. Works great with the 2-2.5" mates, but if you try to put any 3" mates in it, they'll have to be crouching.
  20. I'm also going with the zombies, though the MvC line is looking really good. It is a great time to be collecting Minimates. Lots of great stuff coming.
  21. I agree about Venom being normal scale most of the time. In fact, my signature Venom has the "back in black" spidey torso to avoid using the powerhouse torso. Not a fan of most of the powerhouse torsos. Still, he's been drawn so oversized in comics at times that I'd like to have a bulky version to go with my normal version. Probably won't ever get one, but I'd be all for it if DST would do it.
  22. I'd take 2.5" versions of these guys over the sculpted body parts, but that's never going to happen so we deal with what we get. I prefer the bulk pieces over just the powerhouse torso piece, especially since the more recent powerhouse pieces tend to cover part of the shoulder and are extremely restrictive. Aside from that, the powerhouse torso alone tends to make the arms and legs of the character look extremely out of proportion. Really kills the flow of the mate, in my humble opinion. I agree with all of Katy's, um, I mean k80's suggestions, plus Venom. He's often drawn to be quite huge, so why not?
  23. Having collected LEGO minifigs for several years, I'm not as bothered by holes in the heads of bald or masked characters as some of the others here. In fact, I probably wouldn't have noticed the hole in Blade's head if someone hadn't pointed it out. Still hating Kingpin's sculpted fingers, but otherwise I'm just going to accept him for what he is... a big fat guy. Maybe I'll give him some hair and make a custom minivenom out of him when I get him.
