Congrats to the winners!

I did post the third picture in my thread yesterday, but made a note it was for the contest. Took me until today to write up the story. “…ection seems to spread from bites or scratches. There are reports of infection in every major cit…” Vert turns off the clock radio and holds his head in pain. He thought to himself that it was odd the news was playing on the clock radio. He had always set it to a radio station that played music. As he sat up, another rush of pain came through his head. Vert immediately began to regret drinking so much his first night home for college break. Her grabbed the remote to his stereo and tuned into his favorite station. The same new cast was playing. He flipped through several stations, all with the same thing. He turned on his television, and every channel was broadcasting the same thing. He stopped on the local news and watched in confusion as a feeling of dread overtook him. “Reports are coming in with widespread violence in New York, Tokyo, Belfast, and other major cities throughout the world. Those affected by what the CDC is calling a fast spreading retrovirus, exhibit signs of aggression, limited motor skills, and cannibalistic behavior. Infected individuals also seem to respond to pain in any way. The virus seems to spread from fluid or blood contact, particularly from bites or scratches. The White house has issued a statement urging the public to stay indoors and avoid contact with infected individuals.” Vert turned off the television, and stumbled out of bed. He was still wearing his clothes from the night before. He looked out his window, and saw a few of the “infected” attacking a woman who cried out in pain as they ripped her apart and ate her alive. Vert immediately went to check on his mother and stepfather. Walking down the hall, he called out for them. “Mom… Eric.” Neither responded, and Vert feared the worst. As he entered the living room, he witnessed a truly horrific site. Eric was standing over his mother, covered in blood with what appeared to be chunks of flesh in his mouth. “What the…” Vert started to say as Eric rushed towards him with a strange gait. Vert kicked him in the chest and knocked him over. As Eric began to get back on his feet, Vert grabbed the baseball bat they kept by the door and smashed him in the head. Eric looked at Vert with lifeless eyes and snarled and groaned as he got back on his feet. Eric head leaned to the side, with a bump in his neck as if his neck had been broken. As he stumble towards Vert again, he was taken to the ground from another baseball bat hit to the head. Vert proceeded to smash in Eric’s head in a fit of rage. Vert ran over to his mother and checked her pulse. Nothing. As he stood up, his mother began to move and groan. She rose to her feet with lifeless eyes locked on her son, and snarled at him. “Mom?! Please, don’t.” Vert begged as his mother lunged towards him. Knocking his mother back Vert reached for the bat and stood over her with his foot on her chest. His eyes started to tear up as he raised the bat and said “I’m so sorry mom. I’m sorry.” He smashed her head in, and dropped the bat. He collapsed to his knees and broke down in tears. Vert had never been a fan of Eric had not always been the best person to Vert’s mom, so having to kill Eric did not affect him the way killing his mother had. After he collected himself, Vert knew he had to think of a way to protect himself and get to safety. Opening up the door to Eric’s home office, Vert thought to himself that for the first time in his life, he was happy Eric was a gun nut. He found the key to the gun cabinet, opened it and checked what his options were. He grabbed Eric's Glock and .45 with the hip holsters, along with the SPAS 12 shotgun. He also grabbed a backpack and loaded it extra ammunition, nonperishable food and bottled water. Vert grabbed his phone and called the only other person he considered family, his best friend Crash. Vert’s father had passed away and he was an only child.His mother and Eric never had a kid of their own. Vert tried calling Crash, but the phone systems were not working due to so many people attempting to reach loved ones or emergency services. Crash lived roughly ten blocks from Vert, so he decided his only option was to get there on foot. Vert knew all the shortcuts to Crash’s apartment, so he felt it would be a fairly easy trek as long as he stayed out of site of the “infected.” Given his experience with obstacle course races and sticking to the alleyways, Vert was able to make it to Crash’s place without being spotted and no issues. When Vert approached Crash’s place, he saw something that made him smile for the first time that day. Crash was out front with a frying pan taking on a group of zombies. Crash had always been the craziest person Vert had known, and it was no surprise that Crash would be outside fighting off the infected with nothing but a frying pan. As an “infected” grabbed Crash from the back, a gunshot went off and a bullet ripped through its head. They cleared the “Infected” and hid in Crash’s attic. They made a plan to escape town using Crash’s neighbor’s Hummer. The two of them now travel the country looking for a place without the “infected”, and enjoying the trip along the way.

Holy crap. It's been over two years since I posted anything! Here's original customs of me(on the left) and my friend Keith(on the right kicking a zombie) fighting off zombies. I honestly can't remember where the parts came from for these mates. The sweater vest design was hand drawn on sticker paper. The zombies are the random ones I made. All the "blood" is red acrylic paint. This is for Luke's custom Zombie survivor contest. Going to make a new picture for that contest.

I tend to have my minimate self with me at my desk at work.

I plan on making Daryl Dixon. I just need to take pieces from my Boondock Saints mates that I made to make him. I also want to make Rick and Shane as well.

These some minimates I finished a while ago but never did a good photo shoot with. Left 4 Dead is my personal favorite FPS title and I was excited to make these mates. Bill's hat and hair are a combination of M Bison's hat I Altered with an Exacto blade and the hair is from Old Man Logan, as is his face with the eyes painted blue. His jacket and upper arms are repainted from movie Eddie Brock with standard lower arms with arm bracers. His chest is a repaint of movie Deadpool, and his pants are from the same mate. Zoey's face is from Starbuck from BSG. Her hair, torso and arms are from Cally Tyrol from BSG. Legs are from the blue suits from BSG with the bottoms painted to look rolled up. Her shoes are standard black feet. Both of them have weapons from Brickarms. Francis' face is from Assault Punisher with the hair and goatee painted on. His chest and arms are flesh tone. I painted the shirt on and drew tattoos on with a fine point paint marker. His vest is from T-800. His legs and feet are from a blue suits BSG minimate. His shotgun is a brickarms. Louis' head is movie Jim Rhodes with the hair painted over. His chest is from Agent Zero from the Wolverine movie line. His rolled up sleeves are from 90's stroms glove ends repainted. I painted the flesh tone on his arms with Jim Rhodes hands. His pants are standard black with the torn section painted on. His guns are regular minimate black pistols. I made a first aid kit out of a Lego suit case and glued it to his back. And yes, that is a TPS report near his foot. All the zombies are from a lot of different minimates.

Here is my new Ash minimate that I finished yesterday. After seeing BroBotC's Evil Dead minimates, I decided to go ahead and make the new one I was considering for awhile. The hair is from Brendan Costanza from BSG. The face is a Wolverine face with the facial hair scraped off using an X-Acto blade. I also drew in the cleft on his chin. The right arm and torso are from the Wolfman minimate with the exposed areas painted on with the details added using technical pen. The left arm is a random flesh colored arm. I used sticker paper for his watch. The chainsaw is from the M.A.X. firefighter set with the base part that is a repaint of a wrist part from Tom Brown from the Calico Jack set. The belt is a repaint of one of the BSG belt pieces. The legs and feet are from Whiplash from the Iron Man set. For his Boomstick, I cut down and repainted the gun from the Clint Eastwood movie set. The straps are sticker paper colored with a Tech pen. I cut off a gun holster from a Kree Soldier belt piece, repainted it, and glued it to his back.

When I made Bill from Left 4 Dead, I used an exacto knife to reshape M. Bison's hat. Don't know if that is a possibility for you to do.

Very nice job with the Evil Dead Minimates. I have all the parts I need to make another Ash and this makes me want to do it even more. Plus I could use it for the Evil Dead art show I'm putting together in my town.

It's been two damn long since I posted something here. So I give to you the Udon Studios version of Taskmaster. This was a lot of fun to make and I will be making Agent X next. The hood is a sanded down hood from Cloak to get rid of the grooves. The body is from a BSG figure standard suit body without the chest cover piece. The right gauntlet is a combination of the wrist piece and leg attachment from Secret Wars Dr. Doom with a Lego single piece super glued to them. The left wrist band is a repainted Namor wrist band. The gun holster is a repainted George Mason gun holster. The face and leg armor are printouts on sticker paper created in Illustrator. The energy shield is a Lego piece. I made a separate head for when his hood is down. I will post more pictures when I get the piece I need from a Wolverine Minimate with the mask down, as well as make the energy claws he has in the Udon comics.

What gaunlets did you use for Hawkeye? I know a few characters I could use those for.

One thing that may work for quick backgrounds is printing things out and taping them to cardboard. That's how I made a poker room for one of my photo sets. I also used Legos for the Dexter setup I did.
