  1. Has the Cool Toy Review gallery been taken down? I'm not seeing any Diamond booth shots on their main page yet. Only DC, Sideshow and Gentle Giant.
  2. I always appreciate these existing parts sets, because we still get something new out of them. Not everyone's a customizer.
  3. I think they're less made up than we think. Magneto seems to be based on this image. (Hole in the stomach. One eye.) And maybe Galactus was included so you could take your original heroes and make the end of the book?
  4. Pull her off right compared to what reference? Wave 38 was very nice. You honestly think Wave 1 was superior with her blue, mangy hair and "nail clippings" breasts?
  5. Because it would look bad if it didn't? But really, those could just be Norman's zombie teeth showing through a regular Goblin mask that's got a shadow cast on it. There's really nothing "Zombie" about it other than the teeth.
  6. Hopefully it's not bad to bump this old thread, but since I can't post a new topic here and it's an on-topic question, I thought it would be okay. Is there any chance of another DST chat happening in the near future? It seems that this was the last one and it took place a year and a half ago. I would hope everyone would have new things to talk about if there were to be another chat.
  7. Why should Luke's update be sufficient when Digger's had multiple release dates for these? First it was October, then December, then late March, now Summer. I'm willing to take one or two changes, but this will be the 4th release date. Let's say "Early Summer" is June, then still 8 months later than we were first promised they would be released. I wouldn't normally get bent out of shape about a Minimates delay, but considering it was more of a preorder to make them, it should have been more solid. Good on you if you can still think there isn't something fishy going on here, but I guess I'm a lot more jaded.
  8. I would think that's the case now. DST's usually very kind to give us information on releases and delays, and Zach hasn't said a word here. I think Digger's making up his own timetables on this one.
  9. He also took over that 10th anniversary of Minimates podcast to advertise his project too. Even though I ended up funding some of the Kickstarter (only for the want of the Minimates) I really wanted to hear more from the current workers, not Agent 88. Something tells me he just grabs claim to any Minimates that exist and he rides those coattails as far as he can go to gain support for his other projects. Look at his Pintrest page, he's got photos of the Amazing Spidey Movie stuff up with a tag line that looks like he had something to do with them. (Yes, it's a generic "MInimates Toys created by..." line, but still...) I know he created the base figure concept, but listening to that podcast it sounded like he hasn't kept up with the company or the people currently working for it. I guess it should really be no surprise that he'd use us here to fund his other work. I guess I'm just pissed that we were (so far seemingly) taken in this situation.
  10. I order cases from my comic store, and they are all numbered on the side. Each wave has a different number for how many total cartons there were. The last wave I got was Marvel 48, and the "Carton Number" was "393 of 500". So, with Alicia Masters being the Variant at 1 per case, could the argument be made that she is as equally rare as Red Skull from the Captain America army builder case? They aren't always of 500, I remember some being around 800, and I think a few at 1000.
  11. Over the years of collecting I've found that the change in colors is normally because of the use of different types of plastics for different parts. It's something that plagues many figure lines I collect, notably Hasbro's Star Wars. (You can really see this in action when you take photos of them. I guess the camera picks up the difference more than the human eye does.) You get a change in color because of it being the harder versus the softer plastic, and then also painted color versus the plastic's base color (and in the case of Minimates - printed color as well) . It isn't as cut and dry as printing because of the change of material used. It sounds like often there's tweaks that can be made to balance the color out, but as far as I've gathered from talking to collectors more in the know that I over the years - the change in color isn't really dealt with because they're not high-end items. I've also heard that for the base plastic color, density is an issue, which is why a lot of the time Star Wars head flesh color looks different than hand color. The hands are thinner, so light can change how the color looks. This is all based on other companies' figures though (again, mainly Hasbro). I don't know if this is the case for Minimates, but I always assumed it was the case when it did happen. I just thought I'd mention this, since I always found it interesting.
  12. There's a comment at the end of the DC Collectibles Q&A this round: "Those are our questions for this installment, but seeing as how this is the first Ask DC Collectibles for the year, let’s go ahead and address another question that comes up pretty regularly. Fans ask us about Minimates pretty often, but we’re sorry to say that there are no plans for DC Collectibles to get back into the Minimates category. D’oh!" 13. I don't think he's saying he hates customs, Lobsterman, but rather the fake press releases that accompany these specific custom con customs. I've always found they are trying to read as something official. Based on past Q&A blogs on the official Asylum website where people ask when these custom con entries are coming out, it seems that not everyone gets that the press release is a custom as well. This is the bad part I take it. For example, just taking a look at old Minimates custom con entries, I found one for Age of Apocalypse Minimates that was announced as a Luke's Toy Store exclusive. Given that he now actually HAS exclusive Minimates with the Agent88 thing, I can see how a fake announcement like this can be viewed by a company as a bad thing if they get e-mail asking why they haven't been released yet.
  14. A lot of comic stores will get in items for special orders if you ask them. They can order box sets and such specifically for you through Previews magazine (the ordering catalogue for Diamond Comics)because they come as singles. As for whole waves, the store I go to will order them for me as long as I am buying the whole case. It's not necessarily great on pricing because you have to buy doubles, but you're guaranteed to get the wave, the variant, and have some doubles for customs or alternate costumes (displaying someone in an out of armour for example).
  15. I don't see how a belt, and some sleeve additions make him as big as the Hulk. And you can even take off the sleeve parts if you don't like them. If you don't like the new figures, then why do you buy them? Make your collection one that ends at a certain year then or just have the first 100. I buy a lot of different figures from a lot of different companies, and they all change from when they first came out to how they look now. Transformers, GI Joe, Star Wars, Marvel Legends, none of them look the same from beginning to end. I'd much rather a bunch of figures that change through the years so they keep making them than a small group of figures that aren't made anymore because they didn't update old characters.
  16. But I think that's what Chuck's answer was. He said in general they take notice but he's saying one single individual person can't make changes to what they plan. I would hate to think one single outside person did make a difference because that would mean they were making a toy line for individual peoples wants.
  17. Why? I highly doubt one single fan can have weight in a company's decisions. It seems like a perfectly reasonable answer to give rather than sugar coating it.
  18. I thought this was actually them listening to us because they changed the parts we didnt like like the hands and head.
  19. In the gallery on the Art Asylum website, they show the arm armor at their wrists, not on their top arm part. That's why the big one's armor is in the way for you, Mini Myte. http://www.artasylum.com/gallery/thor-minimates/
  20. I put a little big of that white tape used on plumbing pipes to keep them from leaking around the ball-joints, and they stay in nicely. I guess it depends on if you can get them in and they won't stay, or if you can't get them in at all though.
  21. All I missed was Juggernaut and SpiderWoman. Otherwise I got them all! I did get stuck on SunFIRE vs SunSPOT for the Age of Apocalypse. I thought they were both Sunspot for a frustrating moment before remembering it wasn't the same name.
  22. I wasn't able to make the chat and missed the whole thing. Was there any great questions asked? I hope this can happen again sometime.
  23. Part 2 was harder for me. I didn't get about 6 of the older exclusives. I also got caught on Hellfire Guard because I didn't remember "Club". James Rhodes confused me as well, because I had War Machine, and I guess James Rhodes in Iron Man Mk 2 showed up for Iron Man, so I didn't know what I was missing for him as himself. Still very fun!
  24. I just got it with about a minute left. I got hung up when Spider-Man 2099 didn't get files under Spider-Man, and on how you spelled SHIELD Agent. Evidently it doesn't accept all capital letters as an example, so I tried combinations of Ultimate, SHIELD, S.H.I.E.L.D, Agent and even Soldier and got nothing. Finally I typed "Shield" and it went in. That was annoying.
