If it means that the quality will be better than some of the stuff that has come out recently I am willing to pay an extra dollar or two.

I truly hope that theory is right because it can't be a guarantee until they are in our hands. haha. A couple bucks...Sure totally, for a better product. However, if minimates go the way of say kubricks or bearbricks,(decent looking and creative but clearly catering to a niche of collectors who are wiling to pay 10+ for 1, and in the end, cost 50 cents to make) my wallet will have a hard time keeping up. lol.

I really want to believe that this is not the case and for our extra cash we will see goblin gliders a plenty, multiple heads, and an air stand for every mate that can fly, or even jump pretty high.

Wow, the Germans are impressive. England played well, and it was a goal. if it ended 2-1, i get the feeling there would be more issues with that than there already are. Plus there coaches are dressed like there coming straight out of GQ. +2 style points.

Do I think the Toys R Us employees might have been bending the truth when you talked to them? Possibly. However, all the same, I'm betting when you walk in Monday morning, you'll still find a wealth of Series 7. Maybe not the complete contents of every case, but more than enough of them.

I totally understand your point, and to be totally fair, i was/am planning on getting quite a few extras for some people on the boards(at cost). I dont think the issue for me was if the employees/manager kept some for themselves or even got extras of their own. As you said that is a perk of the job. It was more so that i had been told, not 10 min earlier that they are there and in stock, and made a very excited trip to go get them. And the frustration of knowing that had i not said anything/been there and made a scene...the exclusives (in their entirety) would have never hit the floor/rack. Otherwise, when i asked where they were, it would have been very easy for the manager to simply bring out one case( i heard they had 4, its a big TRU and stocks minimates like mad, usually 3-4 full racks) and let me dig through it, grab what i want, and walk away pleased, while still retaining many others for himself. As opposed to telling a bit of a fib and hoping i dont get back there in time on monday.

To put it in perspective:

If the manager is a fellow collector- than he would be more than happy to get one case out for me, relating to the relief of being through with the hunt. Fabricated(imo) release date or none. He would get one case,and just one case out especially combined with the fatc that someone had already told me they were there.

If the manager is a scalper/out for personal gain only- Than he would do exactly what he did, and figure out anyway to get me out of the store empty handed/ make me put the extra effort into it in hopes that i dont follow through. ...which I totally will. haha.

All very good points though, and its true, when it comes to collecting etc, the employee/worker cant win and its often not fair to them. When working at KB toys, was there ever a situation that arose like this though? Where a customer asked about a new release...came in to get it...and was told to come back later? Im guessing not, and that's the huge difference between you (a fellow collector) and this manager(an entrepreneur of sorts)

About a year after I left, the head guy in charge of that section got fired. Management found out he was pulling the variants/exclusives from the cases as he unpacked them (after truck, but before putting them out on the floor). As employees, we could "hold" stuff for ourselves for a few days (we each had a space in back) that we wanted to buy. He was pulling all the good stuff (believe you me he was up on everything in his section), buying it with his emp discount & scalping it on eBay. When he was fired (& mgmt was pissed at him when they found out), he said he didn't care because he had so much stuff that he wouldn't need to work for quite some time.

So yeah.... certain employees would know. I'd go back & be there right as they opened on Monday. I'd bet that this happens everywhere. (BTW, this is how he was discovered. Not the "minimate embargo," but that stuff had just come in on the truck & first customer in was a collector that cried foul when the more exclusive of the items were already gone.)

thats what i kinda figured. sweet validation. It felt really weird cause i was told not 10 min prior the good news that they had them in. And the employee on the phone remembered me, so they couldn't claim "they arent here yet." So I think it was a pickle for them more than anything else. They knew that i knew, the mates were there...solution...lie. lol. I dont really care about that, i just want the mates + doubles at retail for my effort. My hope is that he will be forced to leave em out there Mon morning for fear of me. I told him id be there waiting for the door to open, and i think he believed me. haha.

i went to my TRU today cause the employee i spoke to over the phone said they had 4 cases in today. But when i got there...went to the shelf...a bunch of thor/lady loki....asked the rep. on the floor...she went in the back and came back and said that "they have em in the back but the store manager isnt putting them out till mon. morning upon open" what!!? I asked to speak with him, he said that they got theirs in TOO early and because no other stores in the region have em yet, they have been instructed not to put them out till monday morning. I then went on to make a mess of things and argue that when a toy line is released...its released! And that the manager shouldn't be under any obligation to "hold back" so to speak. I sensed an inside deal somehow lol, and accused them of something. He assured me that all the cases in their entirety will be on the rack on opening mon. And then i assured him i would be the first in the door on opening to see if he was telling the truth.

Has this ever happened to anyone? hahaha? i feel conspired against, not sure whether to laugh or cry. This is california by the way. And havent heard any news out of here, so he may be legit, but still, smells fishy and severely dissapointing. what would stop an employee manager team from purchasing the exclusives on their own accord and then selling em. is it legal? Cause its something i would think about if i worked there, new toy series...check ebay...jackpot.

I wouldn't take the first few auctions to mean much. Antsy people who can't wait generally pay too much. Things will settle down as these start to trickle onto eBay. And I don't suspect any of these are 1 per case (at least I pray they aren't), so the prices shouldn't ultimately go for more than $15 per pack or so, IMO.

I'm sure BHM will come along saying this soon, but don't get sucked into the early hype. With a few notable exceptions (such as X-Factor Angel--which was just the most ridiculously conceived release of a Minimate yet, IMO), these always get to be a reasonable price when folks realize that they aren't all that rare.

I hope your right karamozov...but deadpool 28 wasnt even a variant, and he still goes for 25-45 due to demand. My only worry about hulkbuster is that he appeals to multiple crowds, iron man fans, completists (of course), big sculpt fans, and customizers. And he is really one of a kind, thus far at least. I hope DS is aware of how potentially popular he is so we dont have another shortage situation. Does anyone know how many TRU exclusives come in each TRU case? is it half and half? Which would work out to one hulkbuster/gamma hulk and one betsy/lockjaw per set? That would be ideal.

Im not ashamed to say im going to load up on these. Luckily, one of the TRU near me gets very very little traffic and kinda run down, BUT do carry minimates in abundance, theyll prob be shut down by next year. But not this week..ha. So im hopeful. My gut says Fri morning. If i get the chance id be happy to share. PM me with details. No overcharge either, cost plus ship. I dont believe in that.

Im with you on this. USA game was super exciting, and yes we got smacked by the refs again. I really dont think its a conscious thing they are doing, its just a negative mindset....so they "assume" the US is doing something wrong even if they arent, and vice versa for the other team with "missing" fouls. But thats the game so whatever. This ref was sooooo much better than the last guy Couli..something. And I think the US has done so well partially because of the adversity. If they were heavy favorites and beloved by all from the beginning, i doubt they would have advanced. Hopefully, now that will change.

So happy we got to face England before they woke up. If we have to face them again, that'll be tough to say the least. Squaring up to be an interesting 16. Glad to see England and the USA advance, scary there for bit. Congrats to them! England can(and will hopefully) beat Germany and the US has a good shot against Ghana. Still fun to watch either way.

MY TRU's in CA say they always get there shipments in late Thurs early Fri and they always end up going on teh rack by fri evening. 3 TRU all said the same thing. But cant be sure about FL. Im so stoked, they are arriving. good times.

Not sure if this has been posted before but i was curious as to what everyone thought would be the ideal box set and why? i haven't done enough homework but to the best of my knowledge the most minimates found in a single box is ten, with a 6 pack and then multiple four packs. The four packs seem to be heavily themed. For me..

why is everyone so sure that this is coming before TRU 7? Is there a pattern to how TRU releases its waves that has yet to be seen? I cant foresee TRU taking too big of a lag or DST refraining from the TRU release at or around(a matter of days) the same time. The profit loss would be to great to TRU. I am a strong LCS supporter as the nearest TRU is over 45 min away(granted there are 4 of them at that distance) but an uneven release on SOME of the same mates=loss to TRU=TRU may lose some interest= bad news for DST. right?

See, I got this project to write blog reports for a research group, about soccer, ESPN, and the World Cup. Only one problem. I'm me. I've played soccer maybe twice, seen possibly 5 mins of ESPN in my entire life, and the only thing I know about the World Cup is what I've seen on BBC News, about the horns, and that it's in South Africa. (District 9!)

So, I was wondering if it would be okay for yall to discuss the World Cup so I actually get some real world knowledge from people that know what's going on?

I mean, here's the hilarious part of the first question.

If you had to explain to someone who is a big sports fan, but hasn’t been exposed to the World Cup, how would you describe it to him or her in terms of what makes it unique. Ill help you out as best I can cause it looks like youve been on this blog(multiverse) for days and just need some help. Dont hold me to the accuracy though. lol. But I have mildly followed the cup thus far.

Nations as a whole are competing, and the site for the pressure cooker part of the tourney is decided ahead of time(south africa this time). It is also unique in that within the group rounds(what we see now, and USA is in group C i believe with england, algeria and slovakia, the latter they are playing right now) 2 out of four advance to the knockout round and that this round is based on more than just winning and losing, it is based on a points system that I dont really understand, but it has to do with winning or drawing of course, but also the margin of victory over your opponent. You should easily be looking forward to the semi finals, as this is when every movement and every mistake is a matter of national pride or shame for these players, lol.

And recently mexico beat france 2-0, also unexpected in France favor. Brazil tied korea 1-1(Brazil is considered a shining star, always. lol) And the defending champs Italy from 2006( i think they played france in 06'), are not shining as they prob should. What makes it unique? every tourney is different, because it only happens every four years and anything can happen. Germany seems to be a heavy favorite this year by crushing australia, 4-0, but who knows, Argentina also looks very good. and of course brazil. Also as mentioned above. That one is up to you. In my opinion, USA is an underdog in the world cup and soccer in general. To speak frankly. No one respects us as a soccer team. Even though we are ranked #14 and have some outstanding players(#14 is a respectable world ranking) for that reason The US should be one of your teams. haha yankee pride! You can get the vibe if you go to fifa.com and look at some of the comments posted about the matches. None are disrespectful, but the attitude is clear. To push into the knockout round/final 16 would bring some much needed respect. USA(unlike many other competitions) is by no means a favorite worldwide. They are expected to win today though against #25 slov. So im rooting for them. Also if you watch the interviews with the USA team, they are very serious and respectful, because they know that on a global scale "football" is taken very seriously. They are not cocky or arrogant. So why not root for them.

Just saw that USA drew 2-2 with Slovenia. Im not surprised. They are a very decent team, but USA is still in the running and they play Algeria next. should be close. They are basically racing England to qualify at this point. Not a horrible position at all.

New to this, but i thought id throw my 2 cents in. Really like the wave, but i felt like they were overcompensating a bit. Its now clear to me why the sdcc sets contained very little sculpt/reuse of parts where it should have been due(bishop scarf, jube details in general, domino, cable, and using wolverine again in general) It wasnt AA and DST being lazy, all their time went into massive sculpts for this wave. (Thing in its entirety, hover chair, glasses, new six armed piece etc.)

Lizard- As for sculpt on thing vs none on head of lizard...has anyone else noticed how tactical DST is with their releases. As they should be, it is a business after all. Its perfectly plausible that when deciding whether or not to sculpt the lizards head, they opted for "no" on purpose, simply because that way everyone will buy this lizard(because he is new) and then around wave 45, everyone will also buy a sculpted version, double the sales for a fan favorite. Im trying to think of any of the major characters(ones that have been redone in many versions) that has a simpler minimate version entering later.(except arguably for the new cable and deadpool, which i dont consider in the category of "major")

Thing (s)-Again, same business mentality for this version for the thing, this is what, the 5th-6th,6th- 7th versions of the thing. what else could they have done. lol. "out-to-dinner thing" " thing with blue jeans" "the thing...but eating a sandwich" haha! you get the point, id prefer this version to another very very lame version that does nothing for anyone and comes off as lazy at best(shirtless wolverine) And we know we are all gonna buy it. Its the first of its kind. a step in minimate evolution.(and eventually necessary for the line to survive) Kinda like hulkbuster, which contrastly ive heard nothing but good things about. If everyone ends up hating it...they prob wont do it again. If it ends up meshing well, they will keep it up. Ill reserve an opinion till its in my hand.

You know the funny thing is that I also catch a glimpse of the title while coasting on the threads and i read it "bored" too. and get upset...at my own post....I hope thats not as sad as i think it is. Cant get enough of these minimates. Bought stealth iron and deadpool 28 at a fair price i think. My gf thought id have huge buyers remorse, but instead im super stoked. she doesn't understand it, and to be honest neither do I. but who cares. if AA and DS keep it up, im predicting a wave 100 for marvel. anywho, glad to be here. not kidding about the overseas help either. PM me if you need help. Will be scoping the 4 TRU's around me for exclusives, and am buying a few extras to fight scalping. lol.(sounds like a contradiction) difference being my extras will be good old MSRP + ship for those of us who dont have access to a TRU with exclusives. that would suck.
