  1. So....not to jump the gun or anything....but when's the next cover recreation contest?
  2. Didn't fantastic five only last 6 issues? Force with...4? Still remember that all chromium wraparound cover. Those were the days! (:
  3. The blond guy in the armor is Psi-lord a.k.a. Franklin Richards as a teenager. The rest are random characters. I only know one other- the girl Huntara. Psi-Lord was also in the short lived Fantastic Five consisting of human torch, Lyja (now johhny's wife), thing with one robotic arm and reed's brain floating inside a herbie like robot while Susan was in a coma/suspended animation from a battle with hyperstorm--who is actually Franklin's and x-men's Phoenix's son. Whew! Oh yeah- thing married Alicia and they have two twin thing sons. Wha-huh??
  4. "BECAUSE NO ONE DEMANDED IT"..........except me:
  5. And here's my forgotten project- turning the Lego TMNT into Minimates. I only half finished Leonardo. And I was going to wait on posting this next one- but I'm terribly happy with how it turned out. My attempt at sculpting a TMNT body onto a minimate: The back:
  6. Despite all that is going hectic in my life right now, I did take some time for myself to keep up on my hobbies, namely customizing minimates. Here's my in the works Blob custom- using the boots from Thing, the arms from Hugo (Tekken) and the gut of Rufus. Thanks to Squall for the idea! And here's those same boots in white for my 90's bucket head Thing- and my Avengers wave She-Hulk in the FF suit:
  7. Thought I'd post my very FIRST pics of the first Minimates I ever received as a birthday gift: And here's my very first random custom:
  8. UK Collector- Thanks! Board games in general have vastly improved from the days of just what our parents had in their closets, handed down from their parents. You should really hit up boardgamegeek.com and see what they have to offer. I highly recommend Survive: Escape from Atlantis, The Adventurers: the pyramid of horus, DC Deck Building Game, AMC’s Walking Dead, Police Precinct, Jamaica, Elder Sign, Kill Doctor Lucky, Dungeon!, Betrayal at House on the Hill, and Rumis to name a few. (: TBT!- I too had the Marvel Heroscape at one point but could never get my friends excited to play it when Heroclix was the go to super hero game. I ended up selling it off but keeping afew of the pawns and actually replacing those on the dials as they were way better sculpts than the early spotty ones. Wookie Fodder- I haven’t gotten into the Facebook Avengers game- I’ll have to look into it more to see if there’s anything worth translating. Prowlar- Are you referring to the X-Men Under Siege game? I had a whole other thread dedicated to my variant to that game- that’s originallywhere this whole thing started. I was going to use my minimates to replace the gray figurines but I too ran out of characters- no Maverick for example. So I instead went with the Heroclix route and added a few support characters that were also made into heroclix- Lockheed, Leech, etc. Jatta Pake- What are some of your favorite games? Love the interchangeable part idea to upgrade characters. Very smart idea. I agree with everyone involved on this we could make something spectacular….maybe even to a kickstarter. I doubt it with Disney owning everything nowadays- but you never know… Sky_dive- Never played that game- or were you just referring to Pokemon in general. I know the characters from Smash Bros but that’s about it. I don’t know how much time I’ll be able to devote to this project as I have multiple things going on already plus the birth of my son or daughter (waiting to find out!) in a few weeks plus on top of that I just found out I was being let go as the result of corporate restructuring. The good news is I’m still getting insurance/payment through July and offered a decent severance package in addition to having my resume and online portfolio up to date. So it could have been much worse but it still sucks regardless. I may be posting a few if not all my customs here for sale to help make ends meet. I’ll keep you guys posted. Thanks.
  9. Donny B- I'm also a fan of Overpower and chatting with a guy who's got a whole group of playtesters, graphic designers, and artists making cards that replicate the look and feel of the original game. The only issue I have with it is that it's incomplete. They are only releasing a few cards, not enough to be able to play. I got rid of my cards long ago and don't want to be digging around ebay for cards just to play or once i get said cards, having to constantly be making deck after deck to play. That was one of my major turn offs of that game. I like your thinking though. I'm a board game junkie and I'm currently working with an actual publisher on helping them revise their rule book among other things. I made a mod to Stratego years ago when I saw pics from a game con that showed a Marvel Universe Stratego that never was released: Here's mine, pasting images on an existing normal board: And the pawns: I have to head out but I'll reply shortly....stay tuned!
  10. I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before on this site or have seen it mentioned in another thread—but I’d really like to combine my love of minimates with board games. Meaning, I’d love to have minimates as the game pawns and a game based around them. I have a large collection of almost all the X-Men and Fantastic Four so I could go either way. I like the recent addition of all the round single peg foot stands that come inside almost all the two packs.I’d like to use these and possibly alter them to include stats or at least flat colors for an upgrade indication- levels a player is at or whatever. So I’m asking you- what would you like to see in a minimate board game? I’m leaning more towards X-Men, I’m basing it off the adventures from the cartoon series- so lots of Sentinel battles, a final battle with Magneto and even Morph turning traitor and back again to keep gameplay different each time. Another thought was using different locations that could affect gameplay- like playing in the savage land (I’d need to get Sauron/Reaper of course) and having the X-Men lose their powers for a turn or two. Here's a board I whipped up not too long ago: Thoughts? Ideas? What gameplay mechanics do you enjoy that could be applied to this?
  11. I don't know why it is.......but toys look so much BETTER when shot outside. I need to do this with my Sliders customs to mimic the beginning of each episode.
  12. Thanks! I think the hair piece was what did it. The actor's hair was generally wavy so I wanted to capture that. I really like how Arturo turned out. It's the stalone head from Expendables and a trimmed beard piece from the Thor movie. "MR. MALLORY!!"
  13. Coming soon? I'm getting antsy. There was a lot of great customs- who will win??
  14. I only remember a few snippets of this show back when it was on, but thanks to Netflix, I've been able to watch it from the beginning and thought- Hey! I should make some Sliders minimates: Left to right: Quinn Mallory, Wade Wilson, Professor Arturo, and Rembrandt "Cryin' Man" Brown. It also helped while watching these episodes that I got my Invisible Woman in the mail- her force field accessory made the perfect Slide portal!
  15. Again, love these- I think you could push Husk a bit more. Something along these lines to really show off her unique power: http://www.figurerealm.com/viewcustomfigure.php?FID=19147
  16. Sounds awesome! And from one FF fan to another- here's my shameless plug for my next FF custom- "Reed's dead so I'll slut it up Sue" -the horrid 90's costume. A work in progress..... Roger Rabbit works great with that image.
  17. I'd suggest making the '4' logo in the circle in illustrator then printing it on sticker paper- or regular paper and then applying it with mod podge. Although it's been awhile- that's how I apply all my decals to my customs now. It'll dry on the legos clear and won't fray on the edges over time. Do you have enough to spare a FF tub? I'd consider buying one from you....
  18. Boy was I wrong- took a chance and bought this game and played it- and did a complete 360. I LOVE this game! My review here: http://revengeofthekneelbeforeblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/15/dc-deck-building-game-review/
  19. As Fantastic Four is my favorite comic, I absolutely love this. You mentioned you had to drop some cash to build it- what was the grand total if you don't mind me asking? Also, could you build the 'flying bathtub' that was the first prototype from those same pieces? I'd love to be able to have something like for my smaller crystal clear display case:
  20. Well said. That's my Iceman too.
  21. Side story: I remember when Phantom Menace came out. I was in high school and it happened to be Senior Ditch Day. So I asked around who wanted to go see it with me and NO ONE did. So I ended up going to see it by myself. I thought it was great at the time but upon a second viewing (and every viewing after that) realized it was garbage. Why couldn't they have digitally removed ANY scene with Jake Lloyd and Jar-Jar? Side story 2: I was one of the lucky individuals during that summer to find the gold Yoda can. I called a 1-800 number and then received a $50 check from Pepsi and a replacement sealed empty gold Yoda Mt. Dew can. I also had the entire Star Wars Pepsi can collection. Did I collect Star Wars figures or any other merch up to that point? No. I, like many others just got caught up in the hype....and it was senior year of high school, my last true 'free' year before entering the real world. I had time on my hands.
