  1. I agree that what everyone at DST does is greatly appreciated (as always, thanks Chuck!) and I always hope what I say around here doesn't come across as contrary to that. I still have my opinions, but I will always go back to the fact that I don't make my living off of making toys so my opinion of what decisions are made really means nothing. If I didn't agree with most of what was done by DST then I wouldn't be as huge of a supporter of the company as I am. Hopefully I haven't said anything that says differently or seems unappreciative.
  2. I fully expect the line to continue, but who knows for how long. I do hope though that no matter how long it lasts (whether 2 waves or 20) that there is plenty of customization potential in what gets released.
  3. Just did. As much as I love Minimates, if we only get the LCS wave as it is, I'll be burning a Selvig Minimate dressed in a TRU shirt in effigy.
  4. If the line doesn't conitue, I at least hope we get a few different colored outfits from each of the lines. If DST can at least work in the main outfits, it wouldn't be too difficult to QC or customize different heads for the main crews, right?
  5. Um, that's the most amazing thing ever. Looking at that is more awe inspiring than when I watched my children being born.
  6. I hope you got the free shipping they offered. I probably should have mentioned it here for anyone interested. On a related note, the guy that runs Gemini said that they received over 2,500 orders this weekend with SDCC. That's a lot of Pop.
  7. You know what I find most off about Minimates at SDCC? That so far there has only been one showing of the bag o' stands on ebay so far (sold for a BIN of $5.99). I truly expected the market to have several people trying to sell those.
  8. In the machine they also had a 1 of 48 exclusive 'clown face' Dumbo Pop that hadn't been announced prior to being seen in the crane machine. They gave the rest away at their Fundays party Friday night, but at first it was just believed to be available in the crane. if you look at the prices of what they go for, I can understand why people kept popping in dollars... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_ipg=200&_sop=10&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=funko+dumbo+clown&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc
  9. To add to what you said, no one will convince me that the Thief of Thieves set will sell better than a Universal Monsters 4-pack with Invisible Man, Phantom of the Opera, Jekyll/Hyde and a Metaluna Mutant or Son of Frankenstein would. No one will convince me of that. Why Chuck can be confident about one and not the other is a matter of opinion and it is what it is. But, at the end of the day, it's not my job to make that decision so, like you, that's just less money I can send DSTs way (which, I think, is the way my wife would prefer things).
  10. I suppose I'm surprised that TRU is interested in Wolverine movie mates, but not these. Like hellpop said, these are pretty much a custom fit for TRU and I'd love to know their reasoning behind not getting a second series. I'd be sad, but I suppose if the line only goes as far as two waves that I'd be happy with what we get. I just hope people order the crap out of wave two so that it gets released.
  11. Without sounding rude, your thoughts on Chuck's opinion of things is pretty much how I think also monkeycrumb. I think with any job that you have where you are making decisions about what the public wants, whether it be through media, merchandise, food, whatever, that there is a tendency to lose perspective of the publics mentality. Whether that translates to studios thinking it's a great idea to make a movie like Green Lantern or whether it's DC not seeing a market for more Minimates, it's just a matter of people making decisions and being out of touch with their fanbase. My fear is that is too much the case in most toy companies and that it's starting to affect DST. I think hiring someone like Zach has helped them tremendously with how things are marketed and how they as a company relate to buyers, but am unsure how much influence that has in reverse when it comes to feedback of what line/products would be marketable or why certain products failed. And I say all of this knowing that anyone from DST might read this and also know that it's not my job that's affected by whether or not this stuff sells. I just wish there was a way for there to be more interaction for Chuck to guage what's really wanted or if there's better ways to present the product. I know I've said it before, but the interaction that Palisades Toys had with their fanbase was amazing and it truly showed in how successful some of their lines were (yes, I know they're no longer in business, but it sounds like it was a completely different set of circumstances that led to that and had nothing to do with listening to their fans). Just adding my $.02.
  12. I will say that the ones that are on there are going for way less than what I expected. Most have been selling with the purple version also and both can be had for less than $30, sometimes with add-ins.
  13. For someone who's never played the game, I find myself very excited about the look of these. Kudos to DST.
  14. I think with the PvP glitch that this is the first time I can remember since PvP started that I have all characters that are available: Strangely, Satanna was the easiest lockbox character for me to get. It took me 13 times to open 10 lockboxes at a time to get her. I hope this is a new thing.
  15. http://www.ebay.com/itm/SDCC-2013-Exclusive-Orange-Purple-Minimates-Battle-Beasts-Shadow-Merk-/261250481819?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3cd3bdfe9b Compared to some of the past exclusives, this doesn't seem like that bad of a price if you act quickly.
  16. Great news, but the only thing that mattered was another confirmation of Squirrel Girl. Ah, Squirrel Girl...
  17. So, they just revealed that the 12th figure is a Screaming American Eagle. I'm not sure why he's screaming, but perhaps the other birds are a little deaf.
  18. I just wish they'd started this at SDCC just so t could space out the time a little more. I'm not sure I'll totally be recovered by August 12th.
  19. If Chuck has his way, you'll never see the 2.5" body ever again. They have enough size enhancing features that I'd bet money that Allen is a 2" body. And although they use kid bodies now, the first was with them designing mates for Icon Heroes and the second was them designing for Disney. It's not widespread and I doubt you'll see it happen much in other licenses that DST controls.
  20. Finally, a Minimate that duck feet look right on.
  21. I need to take a better one (and will once the female agents get released), but here you go:
  22. I'm using as SHEILD agents. Yes, Ahnold, Chuck Norris, Stallone, Terry Crews, Stone Cold, Bruce Willis, Statham, Dolph Lundgrem, Jet Lee, Jean Claude, Rourke, Eastwood, Hugh Jackman, and Rick Moranis all report to Agent Coulson. Moranis has difficulty keeping up but he's indispensable when it comes to filing the travel reimbursement forms. Try having 50 SHIELD agents and you start scraping the bottom of the barrel. At least that means you have Sam and Frodo to clean the toilets on the Helicarrier.
  23. I could do more game mates...so long as it's Mortal Kombat. It would translate well, has a great stable of characters to choose from and it would totally make up for the joke of figures Jazwares makes. And does anyone expect more info on the line of mates that was comparable to Game of Thrones (the name eludes me right now)?
