  1. I like the look of Absorbing Man in purple, might have to try something similar. He would also look good with that Titania mate we don't have yet...
  2. I would quite to see pages that show the the initial design sketches, concept/promo images, box art and then finished mates.
  3. Couple of follow up questions: When painting is it important to prime? I'm using FCBD mates, so they are all white, so I guess not, but on other colours I don't know. Can I just paint over the mate as it is, or should I lightly buff it to allow it to take paint better?
  4. Just wondering what you guys use when you paint minimates, I've used various acrylics with varying results, they just tend to scratch off with ease. Even when I spray sealer on them. Also does anyone paint with an airbrush? I have a lot of fleshtones to paint and thought an airbrush might be quicker and would look smoother.
  5. Glad to see the Salt Vampire worked out well. I'm still making some tweaks on my recipe. What feet did you use?
  6. Thats a nice and quick update for Ultron, especially as the original one is getting a little pricey online
  7. I thought that, mainly looking at the Star Wars one, Lukes chest looks really similar to the minifig.
  8. In terms of the Futurama ones I think they, like the Simpsons, are hard to get right, as you're clearly never supposed to see them straight on. I've added the rest of the Noh Assassins, and an updates version of my Kabuki decal, to my earlier post now.
  9. I agree that the faces aren't great, but I don;t blame anyone for trying to get money for something they've designed/made. Some of the faces and chests look like they've been based off of Luke's stuff
  10. Loving the armours, I can't get my head round any of the 3D sculpting programs, so very jealous. Don;t suppose you could have a shot at a Jocasta headpiece could you?
  11. I certainly agree with everyone asking for Mockingbird and Tigra, bring on a WCA set. Also Destiny, Pyro and Avalanche with an updates Mystique. And as always I would still like to see Machine Man and Jocasta.
  12. After reading Kabuki Vol 1: Circle Of Blood I wanted to design the rest of the Noh agents to go with the Kabuki minimate from the IndieMates set. Will stick them all in this one post as and when I get each character completed. Planning to put a picture of each mate when made in my customs thread too. For information on the series and characters I direct you here For a guide as to where everything goes on Scarab here I can't imagine that would be a great idea. At that size lining things up would be quite difficult and you would have to apply the paint after you removed the backing sheet. If your making the decal couldn't you just add the red eyes to the clear decal?
  13. Thanks for the drilling advice everyone, I'll try it out on one and if I balls it up I can fill it in/cut the pegs of future customs. Firstly I'm intrigued about the 'near black bodies' ......... surely they're all white save for the tampos ? I'm not trying to be clever & I ain't no expert but surely if you want black bodied Minimates then there are many that I can think of ...these being the most obvious http://www.minimatedatabase.com/figure.php?i=355&n=Bad+Apple+Comics , BSG Cylons are another. Regards the hole in the head..... depending on what base colour you're looking for ....it might be easier to do an entire head swap rather than fart about with a drill ? If you're looking for some Minimate heads etc. PM me,be specific & within reason I'll send you some if I have any that fits the bill. I'm UK like you . I admire customisers but sometimes its perhaps better to think simple . Sorry that was typo, should have said blank bases. I see what you mean about swapping heads, but I have a job lot of 25 FCBD mates to use up. 7 are being used for characters from Kabuki so the white heads are ideal. Another UKer, hurray! I might drop you a PM in the near future regard parts, and I thank you for the kind offer.
  14. I picked up a load of FCBD mates with the idea of using the near black bodies for customs. However they don't have peg holes in the heads, what would be easier: 1- Mark the centre of the head and dremel/drill a hole the same size as the peg holes. 2- Cut the pegs of any hairpiece I want/need to use. Each has its own merits. Drill holes means any hair piece can be used but might be difficult to get in the right place. Cutting off pegs means no drill mistakes but also means the hairpieces are likely to fall off easily.
  15. Thats fine, glad you liked them, I wouldn't make and post them if I didn't want people to use them. Hope they work out for you!
  16. I see additional faces, jackets and such for characters as being a good thing, for example Picard with all his different looks gives you some variety in a display. But all the variations are still the same guy, like Banner and Hulk are really one person. However I agree with Oynx_6. Using the example of Geordie with Data parts, you have to buy two of the set to get both characters, but will then you are also left with a duplicate of each head/hands/whatever. If both characters are released in their own right you would still buy as many sets and avoid a supply of bodiless appendages. Plus it means additional sets/waves can be planned and released. The only way I would be happy with all the spare heads is if DST know the line is over and use it as a way of getting as many characters out as possible before it finishes. Don't get me wrong,I don't want to cause a fight, I want as many trek mates as possible, but asking for alternate character pieces always baffles me.
  17. Yup, that was the one. Hopefully I didn't outbid anyone on here :S
  18. I got a lot of 25 mates of e(vil)bay for £24.50 including postage which works out at 98p or something, which is pretty good considering the limited amount of places that carry mates over here.
  19. Got around to getting a few things finished over Christmas and between changing jobs. Most of which can be found in the decal thread. After fixing up Kabuki last year I read up on the character, and the others form her book. Eventually I want to try designing all of them, but I started with Scarab. Scarab/Keiko - Considered the secondary character of the series, the codename "Scarab" was given to her because it is her duty to clean up the scenes left by the other Noh assassins, very much like the scarab beetle. Initially a street orphan alongside close friend Seiko, she encountered a young motorcycle hooligan named Yukio and quickly fell for him. However Yukio's involvement with the Yakuza results in him and her friend Seiko being killed. Keiko was granted amnesty for her part by a government agent named Kenji in exchange for the infiltration of various underworld social groups. Alongside this she was also given combat and weaponry training, ultimately leading to her placement as a Noh assassin. Following Kabuki's betrayal, she and fellow agent Tigerlilly inadvertently form a deep friendship whilst in pursuit. Her Noh costume is a spiked, dominatrix-like bodysuit based on one of Yukio's drawings, and her mask bears a swirling insect-like pattern. (credit to wikipedia) She still colouring, and a hairpiece, but I figure I would just mod an existing piece like movie Maria Hill or sculpt one entirely. I'll be adding the decals to the decal thread as I do them.
  20. It took me a while due to lack of clear reference art, but I finally got round to knocking up an updated chest for Magdalena from the IndieMates set. I just need to work out how the heck to fix Witchblade now :/
  21. Well, technically it's your control art I converted into a decal: http://www.minimatemultiverse.com/index.php?showtopic=8224&page=8#entry270072 Which is beautiful Why thank you. I had forgotten entirely that I had done that Storm, but I'm glad you made use of it!
  22. Liking the X-Ladies, especially Rachel, that looks like quite an involved costume design. Rogue looks really good, simpler but really slick looking. Did I make a decal for that Storm costume? I don't remember posting one
  23. Added two chest decals for Counsellor Troi to my Trek megapost on the previous page. Also converted my Wizard and Enchantress designs into decals. Wizard: Face, chest and back. Enchantress: Face, chest and legs. Two leg decals are required, each is cut on the line on the centre to give an upper and lower leg. Classic Mockingbird chest Modern Mockingbird chest and back
  24. After a couple of months my laptop finally let me sign back in, so heres some WIP of Misty Knight, and a back for Tigra added to my earlier post.
  25. Glad you guys might find my Tigra stuff useful. My laptop/chrome has decided MMM is a virus ridden demon and wont allow me to load it, so can only log in when at a different computer. Hence the delay in adding the rest of Tigra. Modded the chest a bit as I thought it was too symmetrical. And tried out a face which I don;t think is quite right yet so would love some opinions.
