  1. I like that Doctor Horrible custom! Something seems a little weird with the couch though.
  2. Ah thanks Tenime, scales have always confused me I must confess.
  3. I had a quick search through the thread but couldn't find an answer, roughly what scale are minimates considered? Just the basic mates, not something like Godzilla. I'm looking at some papercraft buildings and stuff but don't know what scale things need to be.
  4. I can't speak for everyone else but I use milliput. And if I were doing a chest piece I would try and sculpt it over an existing one.
  5. Your Noh Assasins look good, I'm stuck on what hairpieces to use for mine. Your 3d sculpt work is great, especially Hela. Love the Shi'ar girls too
  6. I love that She-Hulk, I've been meaning to try making her in her FF gear, I agree that's probably the best hairpiece for that era too.
  7. Glad to see people using my decals, it means I don't have to Tigra looks great! Might need to make her face a bit smaller.
  8. Your decal work never fails to amaze me, I wish I could apply mine that well. I especially love Frenzy and Mera.
  9. Thanks guys. Yeah, I did put a bit more effort into Jocasta. Machine Man is next on my list to finish.
  10. 10 pages in and I have finally got around to making an actual custom or two! Been working on printing decals, some have worked better than others. So some might get printed on vinyl as its less fiddly to use. So here's another WIP of my Noh Assassins from Kabuki and an update on Machine Man. To try out my decal paper I updated Storm again, improving and replacing the old vinyl stickers. Decided at the last moment to not update her face as I think it suits her classic look better than the newer Storm faces. Magdalena got a new, much needed, chest decal. And finally what I consider my first proper custom: Jocasta Heavily sanded down then resculped Lady Loki hair, silver paint and many decals. Very pleased with how she came out. Might keep tweaking the lines on her hair though.
  11. Can anyone offer any clarity on inkjet decals? I purchased a tester pack from Amazon, of 1 sheet of dry rub, clear, white and adhesive film papers. The instructions say not to adjust the print settings but the results were very washed out and blurry on the clear paper, which I fixed by using the photo setting. However after blowing through the whole sheet of white paper testing every print option they still smudge and look grainy. Especially dark colours. Any idea why?
  12. Haha I didn't even realise that until you pointed it out! Now I can't stop seeing it. Mock Up V2 Tweaked face and chest - better or worse?
  13. I would say they newer stuff is much better, I think the last set I had problems with was the Alpha Flight set. Lots of loose hands and feet that would fall off as the slightest touch.
  14. Thanks, yup clear water slide paper to keep her looking metallic. Possibly a bit work with a sharpie on the arms and hair.
  15. Thanks Kostisfire. It is indeed! Horns sliced off and sanded within an inch of its life as it made her too tall. Still got more sanding to do too Need to adjust her eyes as the sculpted nose cover thing is a bit wider than I wanted.
  16. Yet another WIP to add, I swear at some point I will get them finished, most of them are just waiting for decals to be printed and applied... Bonus points if you can work out the hairpiece! I also did a quick mock up of what the decals would look like on her, not keen on the face and not sure whether she needs the boob cross thing to be a different shade of silver.
  17. Nothing like a bit of breakage to inspire some modding. Both Pietro's hip broke so I hit up Luke's for some parts. His face is some version of Magneto and his legs are from the first Thor with shins swapped.
  18. I have the same trouble with vinyl sticker paper, it seems to make everything a bit more vibrant, I would love to know if there is a way of colour matching. I generally just do a small test block in the top left corner, if its wrong I adjust the colour and move the block a bit to the right. Keep repeating until I get it right. I only end up losing about 1.5 cm from the top of the sheet this way as you just keep putting the same bit through the printer.
  19. I've ordered a pack of 10 assorted colours from Amazon as it was cheaper than buying the individual colours I needed. It should save me a lot of time and stress when doing glove tops and bits.
  20. I've tried masking tape before, was a disaster, paint managed to bleed right under it. I like the sounds of using striping tape for painting, or just using as, arms bands and such.
  21. Been trying to make a more up to date Medusa to go with Black Bolt, but its proving difficult. Her current/Illuminati costume looks, to me anyway, like a recolour of something Meggan would wear, with the big M across the hips. So I ignored that one. Going through comicvine I found two which I quite liked, 1 and 2 but they seem to vary from panel to panel, mainly in regards to the shoulders and arms. I think they may in fact be variations of the same look :S Here I think the boob window one is a bit more dynamic looking, but has the silly M hips again, so I might use the high boots and gloves from the other one.
  22. I'll have to give the new template a try Luke, I've tried using some vinyl paper before but find its a bit thick for doing face decals. How thin is the variety you have in the store?
  23. I haven't seen the film, so I have no idea how Korath looks, but that decal/sticker looks crazy involved Luke, I like how you managed to do the sides as well. Feel free bzorio, I might try and make a more up to date Medusa at some point.
  24. What paints do people use for flesh tones, or do you mix your own? I know there are a few different flesh tones used on mates, I'm trying to match Invaders Namor. The closest I have found is Citadels 'Kislev Flesh' so far but its still a bit too dark.
  25. Thanks guys, I did what you suggested and the paint took much better, still needed a few coats though.
