  1. Well @funkguerilla that depends... Are the Alt FF going to be wearing the FF uniforms from the what if Vol 2 #78? If it's that's the case, I'm all for it. I like where Buff's head is at too. Take another look at @MisterPL's pictures... what does it say about the film industry that Roger Coreman is the one whose Ben Grimm looks the most like a comics accurate Thing? I could insert a long winded rant about the more money they spent, the less like the Thing each iteration of the character looks... but the images speak for themselves.
  2. Okay... so... half-naked Sue, Reed with multi-pocketed vest, bulked up battle scarred Ben, and Johnny with o-so-very-90's-plain-jacket-over-costume. Do you want to throw in any of the hangers on members of the period? Lyja the Laser Fist? Sharon Ventura's Ms. Marvel? (both pictured) Armored Ant-Man? Kristoff Doom? (not pictured) Frightful Four members who have minimates... Sandman, Blastaar, Hydroman, Electro, Klaw, Taskmaster, Deadpool and a Medusa animated mate. Those who do not... Wizard, Trapster, The Brute (Counter Earth Reed Richards), Beetle, Llyra, Constrictor, Titania, Punisher (Galactus' robot), Bentley-23 (Wizard's clone), Thundra, She-Thing, Karl Malus/Superior Carnage, Wrecker, Thunderball, and Bulldozer of the Wrecking Crew, Gazelle, Vertigo, and Reptilla of Salem's Seven, Lyra/Savage She-Hulk (extra-dimensional daughter of Hulk and Thundra)
  3. Define 90's FF? And classic Frightful Four? Sandman's only ever had two costumes, both have been made. (Yes, one was in the Animated line... odd since he never wore that suit on the show) So that leaves Wizard, Trapster, and Medusa from the original lineup. Of course I suspect that's your play is to get a more Kirbyesque Medusa. After Medusa... well lots of people have cycled through the Fr4. and @The Scarlet Spider, just grab the "Flame On" Johnny's normal head, and either wave 48 Reed or Best of Reed. Done.
  4. @stack32 I think Zach said in another post that the Defenders didn't offer enough "new" to warrant another boxed set. Sure there are still a few missing villains like Goa, and whoever Sigorney Weaver is... but then most folks wouldn't buy it without the heroes, the heroes are still wearing what they've worn previously. Let's say they split the heroes between two sets and picked up the bad girls and whoever else is left in the last two slots... then there's be complaints about asking us to pay for the same characters twice so close together. So they took the "comics tie in" idea they have done before, comics versions of the main characters. They did it with Iron Man, Cap, and Thor at times so there's precedent. So, no, I get why there's a comics wave to tie into the Defenders whether or not there's new MCU product for it. That said... I agree about Luke and Cage's new designs. It's not DST's fault, they're actually good representations of designs that just leave me cold. And the new Moon Knight hood does look... odd. Not going to say it sucks yet, could just be poorly photographed... every time... by different photographers... but we've seen stuff at shows that looked iffy online that turned out fine in hand. Not disappointed by 75... but I guess I'd built it up too much in my head after 50.
  5. On that we agree. Oh I'll buy it. That Abomination does fit the bill of the bulked up Abomination I've been pinning for since the "Mega Rage" pieces were first introduced. With they'd gone with a different head... but it's not hideous. It falls squarely in the "it'll do" category. But I gotta tell you... I hate the movie Vision design. I hate it. Too darn busy, too unsubtle (yes, okay, we get it, you wanted people to know he's a robot) face is too maroon, and the other colors to muted. I hate it the design. And yet this will be the fourth time I've bought it. Four times. And looking for the fifth one. (last years Civil War SDCC two pack)
  6. What... no snarky comments about another Walgreens Spider-Man?
  7. @MisterPL, maybe you don't, that doesn't mean their copyright lawyer might not, and then it's off to the races. Mattel owns a color, Barbie Pink, for crying out loud, woe be to you if you get too close to it. Or Mary Kay's shade of pink either. Best to avoid pink altogether in merchandise really. But I digress... whoops now PAD's lawyer's calling on the other line... blast it all.
  8. Yes, absolutely. Great idea. Fully endorse it. (Not that I watch the show, read the books, or bought any of the merchandise, just not a zombie fan at all. But putting a pair of fangs on a Shiva minimate to make Zabu is within my sculpting skill level, while turning that white wolf thing from MVC3 is just out forever out of reach)
  9. The set? Haven't seen the whole thing for a while. Individual mates? Uncommon but not difficult considering how long ago it came out.
  10. If I ran the circus, Ghost would work for Elias Starr, aka Egghead, a rival and foe of Pym's from back in the day.
  11. Lang/Pym don't have that deep a bench of credible villains. Pym has Whirlwind, Porcupine, Egghead, a bunch of whacky 60's communist agents... and Ultron. Lang has a bunch of guys who think he's Pym, and oddly Taskmaster. I'd put money on a version of Egghead (evil scientist wants to rule the world, or at least make so much money it doesn't matter and/or ruin Hank Pym) mixed with Dr. Karl Malus (evil scientist who wants to create super powered underlings to steal money for him) into some kind of Power Broker style storyline.
  12. That begs the question will Ant-Man and the Wasp get full waves, or just a pair of boxed sets again?
  13. The last 7 years, GR has been kicking around the South West.
  14. So it might be a set with a higher than normal rate of QC issues, but it's not an "every set has issues" kinda problem. MCU mates are my son's section of the collection, I have not been given go ahead to spend "his money" on it yet. Tick tock, kid, tick tock.
  15. Sigh... @DSTZach, you are turning into one heck of a straight man in your old age.
  16. If I can be clear about this one thing, it's that I intend to be clearly vague.
  17. Sooooo... there's no minimates (maybe), no vinimates (maybe), no new categories (maybe), but a license expansion that doesn't cover Discovery... at least according to Chuck, and Zach was, at the time of that writing, out of the loop as to what it all means. If this came from anywhere but "Ask DST", I'd call it a cruel rumor. Now it's just an odd tease.
  18. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait... @The Scarlet Spider are you trying to tell me that folks are using the Facebook group for something besides to sell of their collections? Is that legal? Huh. Who knew...?
  19. @The Scarlet Spider has someone besides @stack32 posted anything in hand about the set? Because his main issues sound more like standard bad QC luck of the draw than a flaw with the set itself. And @TENIME_art 's just having trouble with getting stability with the small base of the hover stands.
  20. Now, we may have to factor Walgreens into the equation. And little to no LCS... Avengers, Team Nomad, Guardians, Black Order... If CW had two waves, this will need three minimum. Easy
  21. Yeah, the Baltar belt is particularly difficult to get a hold of.
  22. Anything by Roger Stern that's Avengers related, or by Stern in general. David Micheline is generally did great work for Marvel as a rule of thumb. Hobgoblin intro arc in Amazing Spider-Man is good... if convoluted by changing writers. Mark Gruenwald's run on Captain America, yes including Cap-Wolf. There are definitely low, low spots, but overall it's a great run. And the obvious ones: Lee/Kirby Fantastic Four, Byrne's Fantastic Four, Byrne's run on She-Hulk, Walt Simonson's Thor, Thomas/Buscema's Avengers. PAD's first and longest run on the Hulk, Claremont/Byrne X-Men, Claremont/Smith/JRjr's X-men. Really, try to track down the "Essential" collections as much as you can. These came out ages ago now, but they were large collections of early back issues printed in black and white. Yeah, you miss the color, but if you want to really learn your comics history warts and all, these are wonderful. Can not recommend these highly enough for ANY of the series they made them for.
