  1. Swung by my local comic shop yesterday. They happened to tell me that these mates were being resolicited in this Previews -- so, another three months?
  2. Hey, I'm in! But, being who we are, shouldn't we strive to do something different? A new color, perhaps? Or put a second cube-globe on the back with the other hemisphere depicted. Of course, if you order Lurch's option, there would be a whole left side / right side debate...
  3. Yay! I was fearing JL wouldn't make the transfer.
  4. WAITAMINUTE! She can't be involved in the civil war, she's got her own crisis going on! (Not that I'm complaining. Okay, I guess that could be a complaint, but not for the wrong reasons...)
  5. Fujis, the mini*mate* search doesn't work for me, either, I'm wondering... My favorite search pattern is minimate* -marvel and mini mate* -marvel. Two searches, weeds out the chaff pretty quickly... (unless, of course, you're looking for an elusive Marvel mate)
  6. Do we know this customizer: http://cgi.ebay.com/MiniMates-C3-custom-Ba...1QQcmdZViewItem Just wondering.
  7. eBay is certainly a game of patience. And yes, lately it seems that much more patience is required than before, particularly if you're looking for a deal. Fujis, part of the issue might just be that you've already got so many! The options out there just aren't as exciting.
  8. Not a chance. In fact, I grew stronger during your absence.
  9. Booster Gold and Blue Beetle! (Okay, that's two characters, but you really can't seperate the two, y'know?) And here's to hoping a whole cast of Teen Titans come our way.
  10. LOL I've been wondering about your avatar. Now it becomes clear.
  11. Yeah, I've been wondering about this too. I guess waves of regular releases will have to do us, but it is a bit disappointing to not have at least one exclusive to chase after.
  12. Boyohboy, I sure can't wait. I think we're going to a huge whirlwind of new miniMates come end of summer and into fall. Admist them all, Classic BSG are the ones I'm most anticipating (well, and a few of the DC characters)
  13. Oh, cool. I hadn't seen it either, Ady. Thanks for the link.
  14. Yay! Lurch is here, and he brought his Definitive Lists! So, I'm thinking you need to add the 3" Star Trek mates to the Past list, Lurch. Since they won't be in a Star Trek toys list anymore...
  15. Let me start my new life in a new forum by making a new confession: I like the promo minimates! I prefer to NOT call them blanks, because they actually have character and as much attitude as any other 'mate out there, so I'll stick with promo or logo mates. Why do I like them so? I believe it's because the graphic gives each one some definition and personality. But the lack of a face lets you read into them whatever expression you wish. It's sort of like reading a book, versus watching a movie. I've noticed that what people get from a book is a lot more varied than movie responses, because the reader invests himself into imagining the book's universe; a movie is all laid out for you. Same with the promo mates. Secondly, they're a nice little subset to collect. I'll never have the finances, time or connections to be a miniMate completist. But I can satisfy that urge by completing subsets in the line, like all 3" mates. The promos are nice because there are some rarities in the set, and the release rate is something I can keep up with. Although last year's Wizard World flood had me scrambling! (Thanks, Shanester) In any event, the promo mates have become one of my favorite accidental armies.
  16. Since there's a new (apparently very small) wave of ADV soapmates hitting the fanbase, and since I'm a notorious opener, just thought I'd ask how any of you went about getting your miniMate out of the soap? I know that Ivan melted his out with a heat gun, with limited success. Ady apparently used his Unworldly Mental Powers to liquify the glycerine. Myself, I just used up the soap. That's right, ADV mate spent a couple of weeks in the family shower. When he finally got too bumby to be useful, I swished him around in a sink full of very hot tap water to get the remaining glycerine off. A quick scrub in the joints with an old toothbrush got the very last of it off. Worked like a champ, but it did require some patience. I will say, ADV mate is certainly the cleanest miniMate I own.
  17. Okay, I'm happy to say repeatedly, again and again, I've had mine for a week or so. For a Pacific Northwest boy, that's quite a coupe. I do like the Bad Apple mate, because he's black. And he also demonstrates, once again, how finely detailed the logos on these 'mates can be. I was surprised how much I like the Red Cross minimate. I thought he'd be a just a dud tag-along, but there's something about the classic red on white Red Cross look, plus the good vibe that goes along with it. Dunno, he's just cool.
  18. Yes, thank you Ady, for presenting this gift. May the rewards never stop returning. And that is just the thing I suspect will be lacking if the AA board ever returns. Glad I've found it here! Turn Fujis loose on him. I'll tell you, there's no stopping that man at MMHQ!
  19. (Dang! He wasn't a moderator when I voiced my opinion.) I'd just like to say the Shanester explifies all things good in the world and should never be removed from the Multiverse roster. ^_^
  20. And here I thought I'd been banned within twenty minutes of registering!
  21. Does that mean, umm, that Ady's really.... -- oh, I can't say it! Tell me it's not true! Perhaps we'll find out tomorrow! (6/6/06)
  22. Ady, delete or move this if posted in an admin thread, but I didn't see a place for suggestions. As long as I'm here for the start of a brand-new board, I'll throw my thoughts out on forum subjects: We need a place for upcoming miniMates that don't fit into the other categories -- like MaxiMates. I got tired of the Marvel Mates Forum being the "front page" for anything 'mate related. Perhaps giving promo 'mates their own section will help with that. Also, should LotR slide into the Land That Time Forgot? Just thinking aloud... [edit] Scratch that about the Maximates... obviously they go under "Crisis of Infinite Minimates". (Silly Cappy, putting foot in mouth on day one...) However, I keep seeing that forum as the DC forum, because of the Crisis title! Guess that's just a Cappy-ism that I'll have to overcome. [/edit]
  23. This is great! It's like getting your car detailed: It's still comfortable and familiar, but everything feels shiny new!
  24. Ban! Ban! I vote Ban! (heh, not bad for a first post, if I do say so myself)
