  1. The Vincent and the Doctor episode was really great! By the same person who made (or wrote?) Love Actually. Good way to suck newbies into Doctor Who. Bummed to find out both shows are being cancelled. I think I may be a bigger fan of GL than YJ.
  2. Young Justice was on CN today (1/5/2013) with one of the last first run episodes before it was inexplicably pulled. An all new episode next week (01/12/2013)! New episodes of Green Lantern as well!
  3. Thanks for including all of the art work. I have checked out his website as well (look up Iron Cow). ...missing DC minimates...<sniff>
  4. I remember UFO in syndication in the early 1970s. What a great dark show! Faceless humanoid aliens, abducting humans for replacement organs and who knows what else? The guy running SHADOW (?), giving up his wife and family to protect the earth, and no one could ever know the truth. Good stuff.
  5. We did mini cupcakes with candles for all of the kids. Merry Christmas! Hope Santa leaves you some 2"-high 14-points of articulation-goodness in your stocking!
  6. Really about the gas? I thought New Jersey was the only place in the US where you can't pump your gas.
  7. Good luck to you and your wife. It is a pretty gutsy thing to do, I respect your courage and I hope it works out for the best for you. Godspeed!
  8. Those brides remind me also of manos: hands of fate. Always thought samheims robe would be a perfect 'master'. (: Wow...Manos reference One of the best MST3K episodes especially with the creepy helper guy delivering pizzas to the Satellite of Love
  9. My LCS has new (newer) 2-packs for $8.99. Some older packs (peg warmers) are still at $7.99 (he has not changed the price since displayed; still 1-2 DC ones even). 4-packs are $16.99 - $19.99 range. This is the same guy who found a Firestar / Iceman pack in a clean up of his inventory 2-3 years ago, and put it out for sale @ $7.99, even though he could have gotten much more on eBay (I bought it, after telling him that - I'm a regular customer, so I guess he didn't mind). There is another LCS two towns away that has fairly comparable prices, but also sells loose 'mates (in Ziploc bags). This is the only LCS I've seen do that.
  10. Can you post pictures of the give away figures?
  11. Kostis Thank you for your inspired posting on the linked dc collectibles fb page. I liked it, literally and figuratively.
  12. Wow, that was really awesome. Thanks for sharing it with us. The motorization of the jet plane launch and the Batmobile disc was very well done. I am amazed by the patience and planning this must take.
  13. Any fans of 3 3/4" Marvel or DC figures ever use these "bargain" figures (using a pleasant euphemism here) for true army builders? You could use a bunch of these guys as SHIELD soldiers (there was a SHIELD figure wearing desert army fatigues with one of the Cap waves). Any thoughts? Has anyone done it and taken pictures?
  14. The Lego knight helmets will NOT fit without Dremeling the inside of the helmet and the edge of the Minimate head. I used this approach to make a custom figure recently (see my Statesman figure).
  15. Did your Crossbones / Secret War Cap smell pretty strongly of chemicals?
  16. I just picked up a Crossbones / Secret War Cap from TRU. They reeked of VOCs - the first time I have ever seen this with 'mates. Has anyone else seen this (smelled this)? I'll try the dryer sheet method.
  17. Straycat - awesome Mechas! The Lexbot looks like the Lego set with minor or no modifications, true? How did you make the Batbot? Did you use a single Lego kit as a starting point? Looks like judicious use of C3 parts as well. I am jealous  Awesome job! I love the shot of Supes holding the "dismembered" Lexbot aloft. Looks like it's right out of the comics / cartoons!
  18. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Of course not. Why, some of my best friends are wild, irresponsible speculators.
  19. WOW! Some very inspired kit-bashing. The Doctor is in!
  20. More customs and pics! I took a bunch of Gollums (not to be confused with a flock of Smeagols...sorry, has that been done before?), used a hole puncher to make discs from card stock, used a Sharpie for eye slits, and voila... Moloids! Scientists studying a rare life form are attacked by AIM! AIM hopes to use the alien life form to turn it into a weapon (possibly one that overpromises but never delivers). The nurse is a Silken Floss head and hair with a D'Anna body (TRU BSG?). Most of the other scientists are as is from the box, except the one with the funky goggles, who was made from random parts (the green shirt may be from a Joker). The "goggles" are actually some random, possibly Mega Bloks part that came in a large eBay lot of blocks. The two pegs in the front were colored in with a silver Sharpie to make the eyepieces.
  21. Custom Colossus Made from a 2.5" LOTR figure, painted with CITADEL and TESTOR's paints (Testor's for the red - CITADEL's reds were too dull). Hair is from Sculpie - probably the last time I'll use it. Too difficult to heat it without melting plastic. . The hair was shaped for finishing with the knock-off Dremel I got at Walmart for $10. Wristbands are from Evergreen styrene tubing (can be obtained at most hobby / train stores). Face was drawn free hand using a Sharpie pen and using the 2" figure as a model. The belt was made from card stock and glued in place.
  22. I am a fan of all of your respective efforts (Bob Harris, Mirymate, TM2, Nessex), so thanks a lot for the feedback! It helped that the M.Bison sets have been on clearance at FiveBelow's for $2.50 each over the past few years, along with the occasional eBay find. I'll try to take some more pictures of that set up. And dj87 and jcastick too - thanks! More Cap pics, fighting the M Bison army Who is the leader of these red minions? Is it him? No, much worse!
  23. Here's a Captain America scene. The building is a Mega Bloks "Command Ops" set I got off of eBay. The minions are M.Bison figures with various head replacements (a number are Tony Stark variants).
