  1. Foo Fighters are one of the few modern bands I like. Also love the name. P.S. Any Residents fans here? <3 the residents. blue rosebuds is one of my favorites by them
  2. Lucky for you, I work at gamestop, and have answered this question thousands of times . Dsi, as a piece of hardware, is gears toward preteens and up. Since it utilizes a camera (albeit .3 mp) and has internet capability, it is almost a kids version of an ipod touch or smart phone in a sense. The screens are also 20% bigger on the dsi. It, however, does not play any gba games, unlike the ds lite. For the savings, I feel like the ds lite offers much more value for the dollar, as it strips away the gimmicks that the dsi includes yet still feels like a nice handheld system. In other words, unless she demands the dsi, get the ds lite

  4. Well, I guess this is a bit of a thread necro but I didn't think it warranted a new one Me and some friends of mine were supposed to go to kings dominion over the weekend, but the whole east coast decided it was going to thunderstorm most of the time (always does around here this time of year, though). Anyway, this left us with a decent amount of set aside money and some time on our hands, so we all decided to go to a comic shop we had all heard about, but never gone too. When we got there, my first reaction was as much a toy store as a comic book store, which was really cool, but then I found the minimates. I picked up a minimate max sentinel, bolt face iron man/aim agent, classic iron man/aim agent, Ozzy minimate, kyle reese/terminator 2 pack, and the cyclops/dark phoenix exclusive from a few years back, all for 125$. Needless to say, it was a real bummer to have not gone to the amusement park, but stumbling into a minimate goldmine pretty much made up for it .
  5. I bought Ryu and Chun Li a couple months ago from BBTS. They are the only revoltechs I own, and they are awesome! They're smaller than the normal line, closer to a 3 3/4 inch fig, but they are some of the coolest SF figs that I own. I can even pose Chun Li upside down on her base for a spinning bird kick!
  6. As most of you have probably figured out, this was the playset I was referring to from Wizard World. Chuck said they considered other materials but they decided in the cardboard to keep the cost down. He also assured us that the stock would be sturdy, not unlike what they use for board games. I, for one, am really excited for this, since it gives me more vertical display room, so less of my mates will be stuck in a crowd staring at the back of another heroes head . *edit* Upon further inspection, this would also make a freakin sweet heroclix landscape too
  7. TRU in Bel Air stocked these and the ghostbusters today, bought the whole GB wave AND got the bullseye pack. Best haul I've ever had there .
  8. CRAP! I just got back from my local tru, and as I walked up hopeful to a new peg of stocked mates, I see someone standing there, examining. They had the bullseye/moonstone pack in their hands. I was about to thrown down, have a royal rumble in the aisle, but instead blurted out "Are you gonna buy that"? "I think so, I collect these things too". And she did . 10 minutes earlier, 10 minutes, and it would've been mine , but at least it went to a collector and not a scalper. And if the person who got that pack reads this page, stay out of my TRU, that's my turf!
  9. Is it wrong that the most exciting in part in the movie for me was when I blurted out "Holy crap that's the voice of claw from inspector gadget" lol. The movie was pretty ridiculous imo, a 2 hour long explosion that culminated in what could only be described as pure Bayhem. I'm sorry, but this guy makes terrible movies, cut him out and have the special effects crew toss me an hour long tech demo of robots fighting, and I'd be happy .
  10. Where? I combed that entire place and I didnt see any Minimates at all. A to Z toys at booth 1032 had a pretty big selection. I picked up scarlet witch/quicksilver for 8 bucks and 8 of the terminator singles (including gen. john connor) for 5$ a piece. They also had about 3-4 waves of DC, the last 4 waves of marvel (excluding variants and wave 25), bsg singles, silence of the lambs, rocky box and 2 packs, and the spirit mates.
  11. It's the same one. Chuck mentioned that there would be new blanks given away at the booth, but I couldn't track him or the booth down all day >.<.
  12. Just got back from the convention, had a GREAT time. Got to talk to DSTChuck and ask him some questions during the Q&A, and he also had some new products to reveal. I wasn't taking notes or anything, and I'm pretty sure some of what he told us might still be under wraps, but here's what I remember. -Amazon ghosts are sitting in boxes in the U.S and they WILL be available in the future. Chuck explained a few retailers interested, one of particular mention being Walmart -Infinity gauntlet Thanos has fingers because it is integral to the story. Chuck explained that he has had to strike "fingers" from minimates in their early design stages, someone keeps wanting to add them. He assured that noses and fingers are not going to be the norm. -Minimate max statues sold really poorly, and actually resulted in a loss for the company. -When I asked about the potential release of more xmen origins movie mates, Chuck assured me that they were not done with that license. Stay tuned. -TRU will never carry every minimate pack available in a wave. Variants will always be reserved for comic shops -The complementary dark avengers box sets were a bit of a fluke, sort of fell into place that way. -A minimate version of the secret wars cover art will appear on the box. They know the winners. Expect an announcement in a week or two. -A minimate playset! It will be made out of a thick cardboard stock, similar to boardgames. It will be compatible with minimates or 3 3/4 inch figs. It looked really, really cool. -New two pack announced! Black bolt and a male captain marvel -When asked about the apparant popularity of the upcoming ghostbusters figs, he said they were doing well enough to be "cautiously optimistic" And finally at the end, he gave everyone in the room a red dress six and unification spock! The Q&A made my day, that and me spending about 80$ on minimates (doh). Overall, it was a really cool experience to chat with a guy who helped create the coolest line of toys I've ever collected. And to anyone who has considered WW philly, I would say do go next year, I had an awesome day .
  13. I try not to hate on others music too much, most of it I can respect what they do. The only thing that really grinds my gears is stupid overproduced, overplayed, and overhyped pop music from boy bands, brittney spears, or anything in between. I also hate Nickelback. Other than that, listen to what you wanna listen to, and though I may prefer old green day to new, that opinion can change with just one listen to just one song. It's all subjective.
  14. Huh, I'm a bit surprised I've never read this thread before . Anyhow, here's my list. Top ones in bold. Bela Fleck Ben Harper Benevento/Russo Duo Black Sabbath Bob Marley Buckethead C2B3 DangerDoom Del tha Funky Homosapian Disco Biscuits Easy Star All Stars Flaming Lips Frank Zappa Gorillaz Gov't Mule Grateful Dead Iron Maiden Jimi Hendrix Josh Ritter Keller Williams King Crimson Korn Led Zeppelin Les Claypool Lotus Megadeath Metallica Moe. Mudvayne Perfect Circle Phish Pink Floyd Primus Radiohead Rage against the Machine Red Hot Chili Peppers RjD2 Rush Sausage StS9 String Cheese Incident System of a Down Tool Umphrey's Mcgee Yes Yonder Mountain String Band .....and that's most of the stuff I own, obviously there's a whole lot more that I like. Music and minimates are my collective sanity. I'm with you man!
  15. Will anyone else be going? I got a ticket for friday, and was excited to see Chuck and DST will be doing a Q&A, as well as having their own booth XD. This is my first con, so here's hoping for a good one . *edit* Also, what do you think the chances are that they'll have the kyle reese packs for sale?
  16. I hate it when I can't find the droids I'm looking for. What gives with that? ...and I also hate when I lose a part that is entirely unique, only to be replaced by a part that is "almost" the same (SDCC human torch with an orange foot from invaders torch. close, but no cigar )
  17. Is it just me, or is the swat guys face look just like back in black spideys face. I guess even the t2 wave has an obligitatory spiderman .
  18. Actually, it seems that 115$ is the price for a case of 12, the breakdown as follows 3x Batman 3x Joker 2x Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) 2x Sinestro 1x Aquaman 1x Firestorm That puts these figures at about 10$ a piece. *edit* Also, about 10$ overpriced
  19. I asked a similar question to this in "ask dst" a few months back. Steve Creger: Have you guys ever considered making original, non licensed Minimates, like a cowboys/indians set or assorted soldiers or something? Also, what accessories will the New Captain America minimate come with? Thanks in advance . DSTChuck: Yes we have considered them, but to date the buyers have not shown much interest. The new Captain America will include his shield, gun, knife and alternate hair plus a shield-holding harness.
  20. I saw the movie at midnight last night, and my impressions ended up being very meh. My biggest issue was that they seemed to rush through things far too quickly. Scenes with somewhat emphasized characters (such as the blob and deadpool) end up being small cameos, which was dissapointing, but I think my biggest gripe with it was if you didn't know comics, you might not know what the hell was even going on. For example, my brother came out of the movie and asked me "so, really dumb question, but wolverines brother was sabertooth right?". That sort of summed it up, there are a lot of assumptions that you know who the characters are, and some really important moments in wolvies past are sort of skimmed over. It was by no means a bad movie, I would probably even say it is better than xmen 3, but it certainly does not touch the quality of xmen 1 or 2. I would recommend seeing it at least, but don't have super high expectations.
  21. Stopped by the TRU in Bel Air today, pleased to see a fresh, full peg of the wolverine moviemates. I picked up the blob pack, and the doom/hulk pack from last wave, but left the rest until I have more money >.<.
  22. Sinister Six, featuring Electro, Lizard, the vulture, and an updated Doc oc
  23. So, I read this thread the other day and thought, eh, I've never come across any minimates "in the wild", which sucks. So anyway, I work at a gamestop in a mall, and went to go grab a pretzel. There's this little baseball card show thing in the center, and just as I think to myself "hey, I wonder if..." I see an carded gene simmons kiss minimate for 2$. I walk up to the guy and ask "holy crap do you have any more of these", he just looks at me all confused and says no. Not even a kiss fan, but it was cool to find him, first 3" minimate as well . Anyways, made my day, so yeah...
