  1. Maybe in the short term, it costs more to make a new mold than it does to paint a simple design, but when you factor in the eventual reuse of the mold, the price is driven down in the long run. That first Tony Stark hair piece and New X-Men Phoenix hair piece probably paid for a factory. I can see how it would be costly for the paint process too. You've got to figure that each part goes through the machine 4 times so that each surface can be sprayed with paint. When you add multiple colors, it probably has to go through each time for each color. Look at the horrible Friends & Foes Spidey. Those webs wouldn't be bleeding through his face if he wasn't going through the machine multiple times for each color. There wouldn't be any webs there if they only ran him through once. Granted, I have no knowledge of the manufacturing process, this is all guess work on my part.
  2. I got Lego Star Wars III as well, so the few minutes of my time that aren't already claimed by work, social engagements, or the various customizing projects I've found myself involved with are being sunk into fighting battle droids.
  3. I was surprised to find this at my LCS today. Haven't had a chance to really inspect it, but from a casual glance, Nightcrawler's arm is cracked in mine, and one of his hands has what looks like a bit of dirt smudged on it. It's like someone stepped on it and then threw it in the package. Also, overall the details are rather shoddy. What should be neat lines separating the colors is instead blurry where the paint kind of bleeds into each other. And the green on Meggan's feet is too far down on mine too.
  4. I imagine they weren't offered a complete list of "classic" shows. On top of that, you'd have to look at how realistic it is to produce a line of Minimates based on it. If the show is predominately every day folks wandering around, then that equals civilian Minimates. While some of us would want them for the nostalgia factor or just to fill out a crowd scene for our super heroes, I can't imagine Dick Van Dyke Minimates flying off the shelves at Toys R Us. There's only a couple that even stand out to me, and I can't see them going beyond a character & vehicle set or a box set at most. Still, they could always do the Golden Palace, which would net you three of the four Golden Girls (all four if Bea Arthur's guest spot allows for her to be included in the box set)
  5. Beneath your post, where you'd usually see Reply, there should be a button for Edit. At least, if your screen looks anything like mine.
  6. This does seem appropriate what with the alternate universe contest going on.
  7. At 5 bucks each! Not 5 bucks for both characters, 5 bucks for 1. Hell, they had six character costumes for the same price a week ago. I'm passing on this, and not just because of how terrible I am at this game. 10 bucks is an awful lot to charge for 2 characters who were both working characters in the game before it even launched.
  8. I guess one of us could make the final boss character who brought all these other folks together.
  9. I'm still of the opinion that simply going with ninjas is too limited. Do a google search for ninja and if you filter out any turtles and motorcycles that show up, most of what you see is someone in black pajamas with a mask. I can get behind some tournament fighter type theme though, since at least you get more options and more room for imagination.
  10. Definitely something that embraces the culture and heritage of Japan. I'm sure there's something to pull from there. Limiting it to just ninjas though does seem to hamper creativity somewhat. I imagine most people just think of the traditional black ninja without much else to work with.
  11. Funny trailer, but I think a full length one would be terrible.
  12. I used to have all mine displayed by team or affiliation. Then I moved 3 times. Now they're all in a box. I really need to display them again.
  13. I just started Dragon Age II. It looks very nice. I can't really comment on the changes in gameplay since I played the first one on PS3 and I'm working on the second one on PC.
  14. So you're saying DST is infallible? As for when series 10 shows up: soon. They're already teasing them on the TRU website, so most likely in the next few weeks.
  15. I support the exclusives in principle, its just how TRU manages these things that irritate me. I've never understood how a national retail chain can fail to carry the same inventory in every location. I realize there's a limit to shelf space and some regions might cater more to one product than another, but the Sonic the Hedgehog action figures that ate away most of the dedicated Minimate space at my store aren't exactly flying off the shelf any faster than the clearance BSG sets. I mean if TRU is going to commit to supporting a brand, going so far as to sanction exclusive sets, you'd think they'd want them to be somewhat readily available to bring the customers in the store or to their website (which is 10 times the nightmare of going to their store). I realize that causing someone to wander into the store weekly in hopes of finding the one thing they're looking for might entice some to spend money on other crap while they're there to justify the trip, but with me, I toy shop on a budget, so if the Minimates aren't there, I go home empty handed. With gas prices rising, its getting harder to justify even driving there. Ordinarily that would just drive me to their website, but we've already established that trainwreck, where you find products that aren't even remotely close to the same product you're searching for, and if you do happen to find the one thing you're looking for, it sold out 7 seconds after they posted it, and half the folks who were lucky enough to get an order in will inevitably get the email saying they're out and they'll let you know when they have more. If you're lucky enough to hear back from them about more becoming available, its about 6 hours after they sold out again. Still, I'm excited about getting yet more X-Men at 3-4 times the retail price on eBay.
  16. I do like that face on Punisher. Also, what's a collab? Is that like a cross between a collie and a labrador?
  17. In the next edition, 30 Spider-Men walk into a bar...
  18. As soon as its available on the PSN, I'll look into it.
  19. At least 36, but it depends on their size, accessories, etc. You could probably get up to 3 or 4 times as much if they're all blanks or Spider-Men.
  20. I'd buy any and all of these, which is a shame since the only one that we're likely to see is Spider-Man, around the time of the reboot movie hitting theaters. Of course, speaking of a Spider-Man set, how about one with the Slingers in it? It's 4 costumes he wore, so we'd get 4 Spider-Man costumes checked off, plus other people went on to wear the costumes, so we'd be getting 4 new characters.
