Heralds of Galactus Toys-R-Us Minimate Fan Poll!

We're back, with what is now an annual event, the Toys R Us Minimate fan poll! Toys R Us is once again teaming up with the inmates of Art Asylum to let YOU the fans pick our 2011 Minimates exclusive box set. This year we’re going cosmic and celebrating Galactus and his heralds. This year voters will decide which heralds of Galactus figures will be featured in this first of its kind box set! We've come up with what we think are 5 ideas for the devourer of worlds heralds that represent the characters from different eras and of course Galactus himself.

That's right, True Believers! Beginning 5/15/11 and continuing until 5/31/11, fans will be able to visit toysrus.com and artasylum.com and cast their ballots in deciding which of their favorite Cosmic heroes are to be included in the exclusive Minimates box set. Spanning the over history of the Marvel Universe some of these are characters that fans have been requesting for years and thought there was no way Diamond Select Toys would ever make, we've now designed them for you the fans.

·Galactus – Sole survivor of the universe existing before the Big Bang, Galactus is perhaps the most feared being in the cosmos! This Minimate includes: a mini Silver Surfer Minimate and board that can be attached to Galactuss shoulder.

·Nova (Frankie Raye)- Frankie Raye was the stepdaughter of Phineas T. Horton, inventor of the android Human Torch. Horton brought Frankie with him as he dug into the spare parts and chemicals he used to build the Human Torch decades earlier. Frankie was exposed to a canister of chemicals which set her on fire, but instead of being harmed she gained powers similar to the Human Torch. This Minimate includes: a new fire base that elevates the figure and creates the illusion of flight and flame flowing as part of her hair.

·Morg – Morg was the executioner on the medieval world of Caraner, until one day the world devourer Galactus consumed it. Morg opposed Galactus but rather than destroy him he selected the ruthless Morg to be his herald. This Minimate includes: a flight base as well as the Ax he fought Terrax to regain.

·Terrax – Tyros was once the dictator of the city Lanlak on the planet Biri, where his superhuman ability to common rocks and earth enabled him to overcome all resistance. Galactus made Tyros his new herald Terrax. This Minimate includes: Asteroid base, as well as a base elevator base for the asteroid, and his distinctive ax.

·Air Walker – When he first arrived on Earth, he was mistaken for the angle Gabriel after he announced his name. Upon his arrival on earth he was able to single handedly defeat the Fantastic Four. Gabriel is not an angel but an highly advanced robot and the second known herald of Galactus. This Minimate includes: clear wings and a flight base.

·Firelord – Sent by Galactus to earth to enlist the aid of Thor, Hercules and Ego in order to save the universe. Soon after, Firelord asked Galactus for his freedom and Galactus released him and he was allowed to remain on earth. This Minimmate includes: his distinctive staff and a flight base.

So make your choice and cast your ballot for the all-new exclusive Heralds of Galactus box set, available exclusively this fall from Toys R Us and Diamond Select Toys! The top four fan selections will be included in the set, so rally your own army of heroes or villains and become a part of Marvel Comics history!

  2. Checked out the Towson, MD TRU today and found they had finally put out a case! Picked up the last Magik/Warlock & Shatterstar/Cannonball sets and left the Wolverine/Dark Magneto and SpiderMan/Lizard sets behind (three of each). I was thinking eBay was my only hope, too!

  3. Did anyone notice that the Deadpool, Dante, Taskermaster, and Ryu figures were marked as a boxset? Do you think that means they'll be more two packs? or that this is a four pack only thing?

They'll be doing 4-packs and 2-packs at the very least. I'm hoping for some singles featuring some of the alternate costumes too but who knows.

i dont care what anyone says, im SUPER happy to finally get a modern wolverine, people keep complaining about tons of wolverines, but atleast the ones we have been getting latley are good quality and for the most part are differant costumes (with the exception of the battle ravaged ones)

And at least this Wolverine has the correct post-Utopia costume, I think for the first time.

  4. I'm puzzled by them not revealing Red Skull, I get that they don't want the minimate to scoop them on his appearance before they show actual film photos or footage, but I don't get why he's under wraps from the film. I mean, it's pretty obvious what he's going to look like, some sort of modified military uniform and a red skull for a head. Considering how much has appeared online from the film, I'm surprised by the secrecy surrounding this character.

It's not always a logical thing. When we were working on the X3 Minimates we were told in NO uncertain terms that we could not show Dark Phoenix or allude to her in any way shape or form because they didn't want to "ruin the surprise" of the movie. Seriously? You spent two movies building up Phoenix into this huge storyline and then you think Dark Phoenix is going to catch ANYONE by surprise? Eh, studios...

  5. I think Thundercats and James Bond are great guesses, just knowing about DST's past interest in both licenses.

MOTU, GI Joe, Disney would be phenomenal - but so far at least two of the three have balked at Minimates in the past so I don't know what would have changed their minds.

Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Transformers are IMO least likely due to the $$$ required for licensing anything from Lucas (same goes for Harry Potter) and concerns about Transformers and Minimates meshing stylistically.

DC would be ideal, but unless their LA move has seriously changed their licensing options I just don't see it happening.

  6. Checked my TRU in Madison and no luck. I asked the guy to look up the item number and he said that the warehouse had a little over 700 on order. This should be good in that they will hopefully not arrive until after the Chaos that is Christmas.

And he also told me that there was no order even for the warehouse on the Heroic Age set :ermm:

Checked the Appleton, WI store (home for X-Mas) and found nothing but FF remnants and Iron Man 2. They DID have the Heroic Age set though, so that must be an issue with the Madison store.

  7. HEY GUYS!!! GUESS WHAT!! Minimates are still around. I don't care who the hell is in the damn wave, we have 40 WAVES. That is the best fact of this, to me at least. ;)

Actually, that's not a fact. When this comes out we'll have 39 waves. I'm really tired of everyone (including Chuck) miscounting waves-it's very misleading. :P

And here I thought the Ghost Rider movie as a whole was very misleading ;)

Here's hoping they do indeed release the 616 Sinister as the main version and AOA Sinister as the variant, but I could absolutely live with Ms Sinister as the variant instead. If they do the AOA Sinister though, I hope it's based on the original AOA Sinister art and not the crappy "Return to AOA" art.

  8. Laser Armor Spider-Man & Hobgoblin w/ new glider

Thorbuster Iron Man & Bulked Up Hulk

    Nimrod & Mr Sinister

    Nimrod & Ms Sinister variant

I put Hobgoblin instead of Green Goblin because Hobby's coming back in the comics and GG's been done a lot recently.
