  1. I always liked the idea of having more Videogame Minimates, they fit perfectly with the scale of the toy, The Halo Ones seem pretty decent.

Some others I'd like to see.

Mortal Kombat. Scorpian, Sub Zero, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Goro, Quan Chi, Kung Lao, Sonya Blade

Street Fighter (more releases) Ken, Blanka, Balrog, Zangief, Dhalsim, Dan, Fei Long, Sagat, Vega.

Metal Gear Solid Minimates, Raiden, Gurlukovich Soldiers, Solid Snake. etc.

How about a Team America Pack?

Man, I keep forgetting to get that new Gambit Minimate so I can make a quick custom Solid Snake.

  2. No one is perfect. Besides, I'm not the only one who has had a negative opinion about Minimates.

You seem to be missing the point where DST doesn't want your negativity on THEIR *public* company FaceBook page

What were you thinking making the Hulk movie wave and the Thor army builders? They're so bad. Those are so hard to sell it's not even funny. My stores had to put them on clearance to get them to move.

I Like them! I've bought many duplicates of the Thor & Hulk movie waves. And as for "your stores", do you OWN these stores? Can you provide us with data on how much was sold before they were clearanced? EVERY brand has *something* go on clearance at some point. Even Star Wars, Lego & Hot Wheels.

You're just taking it personally. EVERY toy company puts out SOME garbage.

See, here's where you're just being mean. In addition to your original post where you accuse DST of "creating pegwarmers". DST does not set out to create pegwarmers OR garbage. Some minimates pegwarm, but that was not intentional on DST's part as you are insinuating. Maybe it's because the retailer over-ordered? Maybe the retailer was charging more than he should have in the first place? EVERY line winds up with pegwarmers - name ONE that doesn't! As for garbage? That's really harsh! Your opinion on what is or is not garbage is NOT the same as everyone else's. Zach was perfectly justified in deleting your comment, even moreso now that you're insulting him here and saying his company puts out garbage. That's just bad manners. You certainly don't speak for me and I strongly disagree with you on your opinion on what is garbage!

Zach, props to you! I didn't think I could respect you more than I already did, and you went and surprised me! It takes a lot to be a public spokesperson for anything, which you handle very well. But regardless of what anyone's opinion is on your decision to delete Dio's post, it takes a rare breed of person to stand up and be accountable for their actions, especially in such a public forum! Bravo!

Don't take everything so literally. I do not OWN these stores. Everyone I have ever talked to says "this is my game store" or "my store owner" so and so. When they say "my" they mean they belong to it. Of course, if you don't have a sense of community with your local gaming/comic store then I can see how you missed out.

You're just taking it personally. EVERY toy company puts out SOME garbage.

Regardless of whether you think a line of toys -- that went unsold due to an unpopular character lineup, not due to any defect, mind you -- are "garbage," you can't say it on a company's FB page. I know not every company monitors their FB page. Marvel's page is like the wild West. I WISH I could delete comments there. But you can't dis DST on the DST page. Them's the rules.

Sorry for the deletion Dio. I almost didn't, but then figured, "this guy probably isn't on the MMMV, because nobody on the MMMV would say something like that"... off of the MMMV, I mean.

Welcome to the real world. The Multiverse isn't some magical place where we worship the ground DST walks on whenever you fine gentlemen decide to grace us with your presence. Everyone has their own opinions and I'm not the only who has expressed some discontent over something your company has done. Take Angelgate for example. I still don't know if you guys are going to fix that.

I talked to my LCS owner today, and he agrees that you put out shelfwarmers SOMETIMES. We still have Hulk movie and Thor movie figures. Nobody in our area wants to army build like your company had anticipated. He also said that he wishes there was more character diversity in each wave instead of 3/4 each of the two character packs.

Apology accepted, and I'm sorry I acted like a douche. I can see that you don't want any inflammatory comments on your front page.

  3. I am good friends with an ebay pro seller. He is a big math nerd, and tracks every aspect of his ebay sales and trends. He tells me that each negative feedback left costs him $500. He has the numbers and proof to back that up. That is just one negative feedback on one guy's ebay profile. Imagine how much damage it could do to a big company like DST on a public Facebook page?

No one is perfect. Besides, I'm not the only one who has had a negative opinion about Minimates.

What were you thinking making the Hulk movie wave and the Thor army builders? They're so bad. Those are so hard to sell it's not even funny. My stores had to put them on clearance to get them to move.

Dio, this is the kind of comment that the mods here may choose to censor/delete as it is directed at an employee of the company whose product we are here to discuss. Chin up and let it go.

Not to mention that Zach wasn't with DST when either of those items were released.

Not to mention that Zach paid you the courtesy of coming here to explain why he did what he did.

I certainly don't take any of those comments as directed at me. I don't do line planning, and the Hulk line is three years old. But a few things:

    1. You didn't say that all of our products were garbage, only that SOME of our products were garbage? Thank you for that. Still qualifies for deletion

    2. Hindsight is golden. When you plan a line based on a script and a few photographs, you assume that the movie will be successful and all of the characters will be engaging. When the movie comes out, sometimes that isn't the case. I loved the movie, and I WISH I had all of those figures (I was on a toy hiatus at the time), but we are certainly not the only company to have made a line of toys that didn't sell.

    3. When you pay for the Hulk movie license, you need to make a certain amount of product to recoup. We can't make two Minimates and call it a day. Should we have made more Hulks instead of Emil Blonsky, who is the awesomest character to ever appear in a movie ever?

    4. I believe the only secret character in the Hulk wave was Abomination, and the Thor single packs were not secret. If the retailer didn't think they were going to sell, he wouldn't have bought them. So you're criticizing us for making them, and the retailer for buying them. And also any fan who bought and enjoyed them.

    5. Here's what nine frost giants looks like in one place:

    Captain-America-Mini-011.jpg

Kinda cool, right? (courtesy Idle Hands: http://idlehands1.blogspot.com/2011/12/holiday-geekbook-2011-avengers.html)

You're just taking it personally. EVERY toy company puts out SOME garbage.

  4. I simply stated on one of their recent photos that both of the comic book stores I go to don't carry new Minimates anymore because of the shelfwarmers they've created in the past, and then they deleted my comment because they didn't like it.

I removed it. You called our product "pegwarmers" on our Facebook page. Any other word, I probably would have left it. But calling Minimates "pegwarmers" on a consumer-targeted site is definitely not going to get comic stores to order more of them, if that is indeed what you want.

I've been pretty lenient with what gets posted up there. I let people post fun pics of our product. I let people post fun custom figures. I let people post their tattoos. I let people post pictures of characters they want MADE as product.

I DON'T let people talk about how awesome other companies' products are, and I DON'T allow blatant criticisms of our product. Not that they're not valid -- you should just make them here, where we're not trying to run a business. I don't let the Trek fans do it, so why should I let Minimates fans?

No offense intended by the deletion, Dio, although I certainly took offense to your comment. It hurt me. Inside. We never set out to hurt retailers, and we never released figures we intended to become pegwarmers. My job is to increase awareness of how great Minimates are, and drive customers to retail, and MAYBE reverse retailer attrition, and that comment did not help.

    THIS.

I didn't say all of your products were pegwarmers, I said that you have created pegwarmers in the past. This doesn't mean all of your products are pegwarmers. What were you thinking making the Hulk movie wave and the Thor army builders? They're so bad. Those are so hard to sell it's not even funny. My stores had to put them on clearance to get them to move.

  5. Nice work on the review. I heard in an ask DST that they're finally starting to put foot stands in their two packs (starting with MvC3) so people don't have the issue of balancing but I could be mistaken. Personally I welcome it.

I should mention if you want any help with the Capcom characters, I know quite a bit about them (especially some of the more obscure characters) so please give me a buzz.

Shouldn't the packs come with two stands, one for each character, instead of one? The one I have doesn't even fit Iron Man's feet. I'll have to use superglue to tighten it.

  6. Only a dha'rudh would use that kind of language in public, Rob.

    As to Toy Fair-

I want to know what Zach thinks will make me so happy in Marvel minimates

I want to see what that Quinjet looks like

I want to be pleasantly surprized by the announcment of EMH toys in any scale

I want to know what the Transformers classics line is going to be in this non-movie year.

I want a Minimate of Wasp in her EMH outfit.

  7. If we get enough people we can DDOS eBay after you place your bid so no one else can bid XD

    jk jk

My grail for a long time was a Miku Hatsune figma, but it was expensive before the charity reissue. Before the reissue I decided that if I was going to spend an obscene amount of money on a Miku figure it would be on Chogokin Miku, which has metal parts. So that's my grail. I'll buy it after I go to Sakura Con. I also want a Reimu Hakurei figma but she's like $100-120 now so I'm just waiting for GSC/Max Factory to reissue her. I don't want her that much and I mainly wanted her so that my Marisa Kirisame figma would have her best friend, but then a few months ago I had to sell her. Not that many people bid on her so I got a measly $30. I should have put it up for BIN. It didn't affect me much since I paid like $40 + shipping for her when she first came out. She's almost as expensive as Reimu right now.

  8. I really want an updated Cable like the first one we got, but with actual suspenders like Cyclops has. The old one doesn't have a painted back which is really lame.

If the MVC3 license gets expanded to cover UMVC3 & MVC2, then he'd be a great addition to that line.

I would love to get MVC2 Minimates, then Cable could get his giant gun and go:

    HYPER

    VIPER

    BEAM

And we'd get Mega Man X and Captain Commando, more Darkstalkers characters, etc. UMVC3 would be good too. I want a Phoenix Wright figure. They could also take this opportunity to release Frank West, Nemesis, Vergil, Rocket Raccoon, Strider Hiryu, and an updated Doctor Strange (it's hard enough getting the first one).

Stick a nail in the coffin, they're dead and buried. We'll never see them again.

How are you so certain? DST continues to actively pursue the license. If DST had given up interest I'd probably agree. It might not happen for many years, but I'm certain one day we will see DC minimates again, even if we have to wait for an entire administration change at DC.

I'm not holding my breath, and I'm not expecting it soon. But to say NEVER is quite a ballsy thing to say if you are not the rights-holder.

DC has shown time and time again that they are not willing to come back to Minimates. It seems like twice a year they come up with a new line of crap mini figures that aren't Minimates.

  9. Ah I was going to post this very same thread,it's great to see this board get some recogniticion!Heres for another 2000!

Now I know you are deciding on wether or not you will do your quote quiz trekker, but I'll do my music quiz on here (because garrison didn't put up his own thread)

What song has the lyrics"around the world"

Daft Punk - Around the World

  10. I'm hoping to see the Universal Monsters have somebody besides the Mummy show up for release.

Also really hoping for several of my most-wanted in the Marvel line.

I really want the Invisible Man, couldn't care less about the other figures in the line though I hope it does well enough that the Inivisible Man is released.

I hope to see Kang, DC Minimates, and some good Marvel characters we haven't seen before. I really want an updated Cable like the first one we got, but with actual suspenders like Cyclops has. The old one doesn't have a painted back which is really lame.

  11. One day our spaceship will come in. Hasn't Chuck always said the thing holding back Star Wars mates is lack of interest from Lucas, rather than a conflict with the Hasbro license?

Still super unlikely that'll change, but it would be an awesome line.

Star Wars Minimates would be amazing. I'd love to have an X-Wing, a TIE Fighter, Slave I and Millenium Falcon. But because Mr. George Lucas is so dense it probably won't happen until he dies.

Also, I know people have been wanting Doctor Who Minimates so that would be good. I want MVC2 and Street Fighter Minimates.

  12. For some reason the stand for my Iron Man isn't fitting right. How am I supposed to have him hold the proton cannon?

The proton cannon has a hole you plug the flight stand into. That way IM doesn't fall over when posed with it. His glove piece doesn't hold the cannon very well to begin with.

I know but I want the small plate stand to actually fit in Iron Man's foot to see if I can have him hold the proton cannon. He can't really hold it if I use the flight stand for the proton cannon.

  13. Damnit, another LCS I go to won't be carrying Minimates anymore too. The owner complained that the Minimates just sit and sit and sit, but they didn't have any problem selling all of them. He doesn't seem to have a problem with OTHER merchandise shelfwarming. I hate this so much. Now I have to pay shipping or go all the way to the Toys R Us miles away if I want new Minimates. I'm glad though, that Luke's Toy Store isn't charging more for the shortpacks, so he will be getting more of my business. I just hate the $5 shipping.

  14. I picked up Iron Man vs Arthur the other day, Iron Man is pretty sweet. I love that he comes with a proton cannon. I gave Arthur to a friend since I didn't care for him. I preordered 2x Dormammu vs Trish from Luke's Toy Store, one for me one for a friend. Zero's face still looks terrible.
