  1. Coming from a 15 year old, it wasn't that bad. Pygmy was worse IMO. That one was good, but you have to read stuff over to understand it, as it's written in the perspective of a teenager who just came from a foreign country. I'm going to read Lullaby by him next. But I've still got to read It, Shudder Island, and Darkly Devoted Dexter first. If its not graphic, than I'll look into it. I am almost done with fight club, and I must say it's getting pretty boring. I still like it though. I want to find Solaris, but none of the bookstores have it! It seems interesting. Anyway not sure what book to pick after Fight Club, and i really need a strong reccomendation. Maybe Terminal Spy, not sure.
  2. Appreciate the advice turtle and I still am very thankful for the reccommendation on the "Yiddish Policeman's Union"! So far I am mesmerized by Fight Club. The way everything just dits is crazy. What should be my next Palahniuk read though? Probably not Choke; it's about a sex addict I believe. Nothing I can't handle and nothing pornographic I'm sure but a bit sketchy nonetheless.
  3. AHHHH! double post! I just finished "The Yiddish Policeman's Union". It was alright; it wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but then again my expectations were very high. I did like the characters in it. I feel like Chabon spends way too much time explaining the intricate details of every little thing which gets annoying after a while. A lot of the Jewish stuff was a bit too odd for me to follow even though I did heavily rely on the Yiddish-English appendix in the back of the book. I honestly don't see myself picking up another Chabon title in the future. I also need a bit of clarification as to what happened in the end cause I didn't really follow all the way. Anyway, next book is either "Into The Wild", "Fight Club", or "Solaris". Might even pick up "The Terminal Spy", not sure.
  4. Pretty crappy movie. I liked Hugo weaving in it. The score was good. You can read about on my blog loserfaces. I really have a bad feeling Joe Johnston is gonna f-up the captin America movie.
  5. The further I get away from the back, the more I want to go back and reread it. I think Meyer Landsman is a pretty classic character. I actually picked it up because you mentioned it and it sounded interesting. I then proceeded to Wiki and it looked cool enough and now I own it. I think so far it's pretty cool. Oh and Minimadman, that book series is just friggin amazing. I love the characters and the story. It only gets better as you progress thru the series.
  6. Just picked up "The Yiddish Policeman's Union". Not far enough into the plot to elaborate too deeply, but so far I think it's alright. I will say, howvere, that the characters are a hell of lot more interesting than I thought theyd be.
  7. Yeah it was awesome. I think my next book will be either Animal Farm or Yiddish Policemans Union
  8. Holy crap I just finished Shutter Island. What the hell? It's crazy! The ending is absolutely the best part in the whole book. It is a 100% curveball! I really enjoyed this book probably mostly because of the ideas Lehane sparks in your mind as you read it; you start to think of hundreds of different endings but in the ending, you feel like a dumba-s because that'd the only one you didn't expect. One of the best books I've read in a while.
  9. Hanging with my cat, trying to find a buyer for Silver Surfer Requiem #1 on the webs. Listening to some crappy Jay-Z music that somehow managed to get on my ipod. and posting on an interesting yet pointless thread...
  10. Trying to finish Shutter Island by Sunday... read more than half of it yester-night (?). It's getting pretty damn frantic but it still is getting better and better each chapter. I'm on Day 3 as of yet.
  11. I hinted at it last post but I REALLY am getting into the Beastie Boys. They are friggin geniuses! Even though some of their rhymes suck, they still come out on top because of their sick beats. listen to Intergalactic right now...tell me it is not epic.
  12. Why doen't the Multiverse have a book club yet? I think it would be a good idea...we could cycle thru members, and whoever it is that week gets to choose the book...Idk but Shutter Island is getting good; I like the comic relief from the new detective. He's snappy! I kind think there's a huge conspiracy behind the events in the story. Cawley's up to something, I can smell it... oh and if any of the Muse fans on here listen to their song "Resistance" it follows the plot of 1984. So does the rest of the album except for the Exogenesis symphonies...they mention the Thought Police and everything... oh and turtle, care to tell me if The Yiddish Policemans union is really worth it? I read a synopsis and it read as being very busy.
  13. Two days ago I brought "Shutter Island" by Dennis Lehane. It's really good I am however surprised at how fast paced it is! There litterally was no intro just straight on dialogue and interaction. Anyone else read it? Oh I also finished 1984 by Orwell and I loved it! The man was a genius! The ending was a bit weird at first but after letting it set I appreciated it more. What should I read next? It's between Fight Club, Lovely Bones, or Animal Farm. I also meanwhile have not finished The Last Olympian. Damn good books...
  14. My teacher has a bunch of those Rockabye Baby CD's. I know it's a bit odd but I listened to some samples of them on Itunes the other day and it sounds awesome! I listened to Clocks by Coldplay and they do a damn good job! I also should mention the upcoming release of the Beastie Boys' next album which is dropping any month now! First quarter of 2010 I think. They delayed it a tad cos MCA got lymph node cancer but he's better now.
  15. I loved Moon! The film is awesome and I really like the acting done by Sam Rockwell. I'm glad it made money.
  16. Go check out collider.com to see that another casting rumors come out and apparently it's mark strong as the villain. Strong was the villain in 2009's Sherlock Holmes
  17. Right now I'm reading 1984 by George Orwell. It is absolutely great! I find it astonishing that a man ithe 1940's couldve been so spot on.
  18. Wow man that's a bummer that people feel that way. But if we got lost in every fantastical movie we saw it would just be a horrendous world.
  19. My sister went to the old Star Trek Experience when it was at the Hilton a while back and loved it. So now what I'm hearing on the news is that their closing down a small but famous shopping centre/cinema called the Metropolis, and due to all the hype there was about 2009's Star Trak film, they're turning it into a whole small mall's worth of star trek stuff. The dude on the telly said that it would mostly be stuff from the new movie. I can't test the voracity of the claims cos it was on local news.
