  1. I don't know if anybody else is collecting figures from one of the ThreeA series. I do know that it's a lot about either loving or hating the stuff that Ashley Wood (head designer of the label) is putting out (or how they are offering the stuff...). For those who don't know anything about it: there are (at least) three different seperate unique universes, but the cool thing is, you can combine everything and then you get a world where robots are hunting humans, zombies rising from their graves and some badass guys and gals fighting them. I got into collecting them at some point early 2013 and I am absolutely amazed by these figures, both in 1/12 as well as (lately) 1/6 scale. Not only because they offer some pretty nice custom/kitbash possibilities. (I'll post some pics later on, if anybody is interested.)
  2. Congrats, Rob. I know how much this whole situation bugged you. Glad it all turned out well.
  3. I'd like to say two things. First, it's a strange thing to talk about WWII from where I'm coming from. I guess I already talked about the story my grandfather - now 89 - told me about his experiences as a soldier in France and later on in a British POW camp in Africa, somewhere else. (If you count the years, he was 16 when he went to war in 1940.) I was with him as a child when he got re-united with a man he shared a tent with in Africa some 50 years later after the Berlin wall came down - it was quiet and quite an experience. Of course there were more family members involved in that war. A granduncle of mine was in Russia and ended up a POW in a Russian camp, but made his way home after the war, rather save and sound - still deeply haunted by his experiences. My other Grandfather died in the early days while his wife became a "Trümmerfrau" in the time after the war. Still, all those family members fought for Hitler. Or at least in his armies. And second, but way more important: I am absolutely amazed by the fact, that I am here, just 70 years after my grandfathers were probably fighting some fathers and grandfathers of all of yours (I'm still the only Axis-guy around here, as far as I know), and I am able to talk to you guys from all over the world, in a peaceful and friendly manner. If I learned anything from history, it is that I am glad beyond comparison that this horrifying time of fucking fascist mindset domination is over and I do hope, that it will never ever have the chance to grow again. But I don't "love" my country. I feel very uncomfortable when I see German flaggs in somebody's garden, or on cars or other non-public places. I'm always afraid people showing them off have forgotten what happened. I hate it when people say, after 70s years, we shouldn't still burden ourselves with what our grandparents did, that we should overcome the past. There is no "beeing proud of my country" after Auschwitz. Bergen-Belsen. Buchenwald. But I am glad that things have changed. I am. I don't love my country, but I love a lot of its people and I am happy to live here now. Unfortunatelly, when I'm looking at what stupid shit is going on right now in some areas in Germany and other places in Europe, times they are a-changin. Again.
  4. Welcome to the 'verse and your new addiction!
  5. Very, very nice idea! I'd say: #1 looks very simple and straight forward. I would add some black outlines to the hair. This might actually depict your girl best. But it's not very "cool" or "stylish", if you know what I'm saying. #2 looks more like an icon for some web design. Cool, but I don't see it on a shirt. #3 looks fantastic! It's very, very stylish and professional! Because of the many details I'm not sure how it would work on a shirt, though. But you should definitly print some postcards with this design! #4 so she already has friends and foes, huh? I like it, but I'm not sure if it's okay for "Cheerio" to not be the center of the party. If that's okay, it's very cool! My vote would be #3 (if it's as cool on a shirt as on a postcard or sticker) #4 (if she's okay woith having friends and foes on the shirt) #1 #2 ________ EDIT: Oh, and you do customize a Minimate for her, right?!?
  6. Speaking or retailers and such: has Luke314(censored) said anything about offering those at his store yet?
  7. Congrats and all the best, local comic book guy.
  8. Absoluetely! Asterix is HUGE in Europe! I'd say, if you ask 100 random people in Germany, more people have heared of Asterix than of Spider-Man or Batman. Actually, I'm pretty sure it would be like that. The 2003 show was called TMNT here, too. But the 90s show was TMHT.
  9. Same in Germany. The word "ninja" was somehow banned in the 80s and 90s (when ninjas had their prime in the US). "Ninja Turtles" were "Hero Turtles". Anyone remember the Michael Dudikoff flicks called "American Ninja"? They were called "American Fighter" over here. The "Enter the Ninja" movies with Franco Nero were called "Die Killermaschine" which translates - you might have guessed it - "the killer machine". I never really understood this.
  10. THIS! Those were great, great fun! Any chance to do something like this again, Zach?
  11. Batroc looks really good. I like how his beard turned out. Sharon is spot on and Flag-Smasher is super cool! I always thought F-S is a pretty cool character, since his initial anti-nationalistic mind-set is a very ambiguous idea rather than beeing just an evil terrorist thing (at least the Karl Morgenthau* character, I've seen there's another guy calling himself Flag-Smasher, I don't know what he's up to.). I guess the Civil-War-Climax-Not-Nationalist-Anymore-But-Constitutional-Patriotic-Captain-America would rather agree with him in a certain way than fight him... But that's more a political theory discussion and might not belong here... ______ * Sidenote: Karl Morgenthau would translate to "Carl Morning-Dew"... pretty poetic, right?)
  12. Thanks, hp. It's always hard to customize a character you're not familiar with. For instance, I completely forgot to put maple leaves on his shoulders! (Sorry Jeff!). Next up needs to be someone I'm more familar with...
  13. I had to look up the new costume as I'm not up to date with Marvel. Must say, pretty good job! Really like those hair thingies. And the sword looks badass.
  14. Really like what you've done here. That WW Hulk is as he would've been, if DST decided to make him half a year later to when he was released.
  15. Transgender Dinobot Pony ftw! Anyway, really cool you could attend the con this year and you had lots and lots of fun being there! Really cool.
  16. Code: this is right off of your flickr account: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3752/14094410388_b5dde4d826.jpg and this is the image produced via that URL:
  17. Your custom: not familiar with new Moon Knight look, but I like your new way of painting the details. Flickr: you need the jpg file of your pic. If using the provided Flickr-link or html stuff, you have a link to the flickr page with your picture, not the pic itself. Just right-click on the image and copy the jpg URL. AND (I'm sorry already): but how come nobody picked that up already?!? (Sorry. Again. Really. But... )
  18. Anyway, while I'm not Canadian familiar with this guy, my Birthday Elephant Child had him on his wish list, so here's Captain Canuck I had to look him up and I figured out he's usually wearing a very iconic costume: white, red, maple-leaf-themed. That was rather easy. But there's also a pretty popular web-series in which he's wearing a much fancier, up-to-date costume with a little armor here and there. So I tried to customize this one, too. I'm pretty satisfied with it. But as I said, I'm not the expert. The classic costume recipe: repainted X-Men First Class Angel mask, repainted Champions Angel body (with sphere symbol removed) plus some old school gloves and boots. The modern costume recipe: WW2 Captain America helmet, repainted Mephisto body and a modified and repainted Spartan chest armor.
