  1. These should be in at my LCS this week, will be picking them up for sure. One question though, do Tonys glasses come off with his hair or are they painted on?
  2. I'm hoping that with TRU carrying 'mates again, and the fact that there will be Star Trek merch in TRU again (see teaser here, second paragraph: http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/ ) that we might soon find Star Trek 'mates there too. As far as character selection, I think it's been good all around. We got the TOS crew done, but there are still quite a few costume variations left for them as well as aliens/villans, We got TNG and DS9 captians with army builders, the extra Picards and Siskos can be used for other characters, while building a small army of Borg and Cardassians. An extra Capt Sisko can make a Movie Picard as well. I'm holding out hope for more Mirror, Mirror figures & there are mirror versions of some other crews as well. We could always get army builder 5 packs too, like we got for Cylons. Klingon (TOS & modern), Borg, Romulan, Cardassian, Dominion, Starfleet, Andorian, Kahn followers, Ferengi, the list is huge. I'd love some space suit figures too. This property has legs, we just have to continue supporting it. I'm thrilled that the TOS crew is complete, but I won't be satisfied untill I at least have a full red jacket movie, TNG and DS9 collection. edit: ok, the link didn't go right to the article, so here is the paragraph: "Diamond Select Toys & Toys R Us Team Up! Diamond Select Toys and Toys R Us are excited to announce a new partnership that will bring the latest DST products to Toys R Us stores nationwide! That's right, now you can find all your favorite collector toys by visiting the greatest toy store there is! The geek-chic U.S.S. Enterprise from the classic Star Trek series can now be found on Toys R Us shelves just in time for the holiday shopping season and this is just the tip of the interstellar iceberg for Star Trek fans. We've also got two exclusive Star Trek action figures shipping very soon and a host of other new and best-selling surprises to unveil over the coming months."
  3. just got the in-stock notice from BBTS as well, now i'm waiting for marvel series 24 to ship my POL. kinda thought they might show up at the same time. oh well, with what i'll save on shipping it's worth the wait...kinda.
  4. thats cool. didn't know they were putting ads in comics. i've been buying more dc than marvel lately so that would be why. there is also what i'm assuming is the same ad in the newest issue of toyfare, which btw contains a letter i wrote asking about dr who minimates. the answer wasn't what we wanted unfortunatly.
  5. The Matrix. I was watching it over the weekend and couldn't help wanting minimates of Neo and Agent Smith. The license should be pretty easy to get at this point, unless McFarlane still has it tied up. I'd rather it be a series as opposed to one or two five packs though, too many characters across the 3 movies. Lots of costume and variant possibilities too. other wants, some of which have been mentioned: View Askewniverse (Clerks I & II, Mallrats, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back) Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure & Bogus Journey (I want a George Carlin mate!) Ghostbusters Star Wars (OT 1st please) Indiana Jones Young Guns I & II Breakfast Club Mortal Kombat (game or movie)
  6. Thanks TM2 Dinobot, I haven't picked up my copy yet (apparently Diamond botched delivery to my LCS this week ), but I think it'll be a little weird to see my name in the mag. Definetly cool though, can't wait to show it to the GF. I'll have to check it with my original e-mail to see if they changed anything.
  7. Hey, they actually printed my letter! Not the response we were hoping for, but any answer at this point is welcome.
  8. Went to the only FYE around here that actually carries minimates on my lunch. All they had was the same Spiderman 3 and 24 exclusives they've had for a while...bummer, I was hoping to finish off waves 5 & 6.
  9. They must have just changed it, it now says 12/23. http://store.startrek.com/product/show/47410
  10. The next issue of ToyFare hits comic stores on Oct 8, and newstands Oct 21. I wonder if my letter will be in it, that would be pretty cool.
  11. At FYE, I just scored the Spiderman 5 pack for $6.44 and the Scarlet Spider/Hobgoblin pack for $3.99. I also got the entire BSG wave 2 (inc variant) and the exclusive 24 2-pack for $2.44 each. I wish there were still Suncoast stores in MA/NH, there used to be 3 of them in my area.
  12. can't say that i am, no relation as far as i know.
  13. thanks for the welcomes everybody. i feel at home already .
  14. I've been anxously awaiting news on these, searching repeatedly online, to no avail. So I just sent an e-mail to Toyfare hoping they might be able to get some answers for us. If nothing else, more people might be interested if they publish it. I thought I'd post it here for you all to read. Matimoo I hope you don't mind, I included the address for the petition you started. Hopefully they will use the letter and we can get more people involved. ________________________________________________________________________________ ________________ Hi, back in February there was an online article by Zach Oat, about Doctor Who Minimates. It included control art for a few characters, but no comment from Underground Toys (the U.S. license holder of Dr Who) confirming the line. Shortly after, however I read several articles seeming to confirm that the line was a go. Fast forward to July, and now the line is not such a sure thing. I can't seem to find much information on anything to do with the line or the reasons for it not happening. I was hoping you might be able to glean some insight on the subject, as well as give those of us interested in the line some ideas on what we could do to convince DST, Art Asylum, Underground Toys, and the BBC (and anyone else involved) to go ahead with production. A petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/whomates/index.html has been created by a fellow fan, for anyone who would like to help out. Maybe Toyfare could do a feature on Doctor Who and the various toy lines the property has had, including the newly released Classics line of figures. There are enough toys that a photo price guide would be possible as well. Help us Toyfare, you're our only hope! ________________________________________________________________________________ ________________ Hopefully, they can get us some answers.
  15. Hello all, I've been hanging around for a little while, but this is my first post. My first Minimates were a Spidey/Green Goblin pack I got at Target a couple of years back. I really liked them, but I couldn't bring myself to collect another line. Then during a lull in my collecting, I caught wind of the old 3 inch Star Trek line. Since it was only a total of 7 figures I rationalized that it was just something a little different for my collection. I managed to snag the 6 regulars in a very reasonable auction, and quickly found another for the exclusive. I was (and still am) in awe of the 3 inchers, and so when the new 2 inch Star Trek line was announced, I knew I'd at least get those. Then I saw the Back to the Future, and Classic Battlestar Galactica lines. I had to get those too, of course. I pick up a few other sets here and there, trying to make quick customs, but that's where I'm trying to keep my focus, although I did pick up the New Avengers set too. I am hopeful for the Doctor Who series, but we'll see if it happens. The funny thing is, I usually don't like figures based on actual people, because they never seem to capture the person correctly IMO. What I love about Minimates is that they really do look like who they are supposed to be, without trying to be exact. The format really appeals to me. The rest of my collection is mostly Marvel Legends, DC Superheroes/Universe, and some OT Star Wars and Classic Transformers. Although with the price increases lately, I've been slowing down on all of those. To be honest, Minimates are what I get most excited about these days, so that works out. I look forward to being a member here and joining in the Minimate fun. I've been on some other boards (they shall remain nameless) that seem to degrade into a lot of fighting amongst members, but everyone here seems to just enjoy discussing their love of the toys and that’s why I'm here. -tones
