  1. Forgot to Add: I asked Chuck about Planet of the Apes (yeah, the classic, but Chuck referenced the upcoming new movie as well). He basically said that they already did the Mego style versions, and he felt like Kubricks already covered the brick sytle well enough. I mentioned their involvement with Fox, and Chuck said their next goal would be Predator IF it made sense and IF the property was available. He said maybe one day down the line, *maybe*. Chuck then asked me if I was aware of their website And told me they did Q&A's! I told him that I was well aware, and that I was NOT Lee Burns Chuck was gracious with answering my questions, and man was it fun to pick his brain! Shame I couldn't take longer, but I had things to see and stuff to buy. This was the most crowded Sunday at SDCC I've ever seen. It was still jam-packed, and just a plain pain in the butt to navigate the dealer's room. I regret not making it to the wings place to get my Hot Wings Merck, but my feet weren't up for it Saturday, and I was certain they were out by today. I feel for you guys who want to make it out to see the show but have never been. It's incredibly difficult to see anything due to the cramped quarters and people *constantly* bumping you. I think I'm growing to actively dislike SDCC.
  2. Alright! Here's a few tidbits as others here have asked and a few more I thought to ask Chuck (and one q from Zach) from Sunday - I'm sad I missed the Saturday panel, but I was tied up with the Press room. If only Tom Hiddleston was still wearing his costume when he came over to do press! Oh well. Per both Zach and Chuck, both denied there was another "big line" that was pulled from announcement prior to the panel. They looked at me like "WTF are you talking about?" Closer inspection of the Newt prototype shows it is a child-sized body, but boy that hair is big! nice dolls head she's holding though! Universal Monster minimates are not coming back not enough sales. (I did not take the time to discuss the fact that offering the same items in both markets unchanged without accessories is not good for overall sales). Also, no further Munsters planned. Lost in Space: Color version should be coming, Chuck doubt's they will do anything other than "the boy" and the robot again, states "no" to a family box set anytime soon, but while he didn't say never, he didn't sound hopeful. Also, Jay & Silent Bob were sold out at DST's booth by Sunday, LiS still had plenty to go around! Jay & Silent Bob: Expect some "less than retail friendly" versions or accessories!! (Per Chuck!!) We talked about J&SB Strike Back, but he also mentioned Clerks 2, and refernced that Clerks 3 the movie was coming soon. we did not discuss Dogma, sorry, but this all came from my asking for the "Porch Monkey 4 Life" Randall from Clerks 2! Aliens: Basically planned for release NEXT YEAR for the 35th anniversary push for Alien (1979)!! Grrrrrr! I can't wait! Also, he wasn't 100% locked down but sounds like a mix of 2-packs & box sets. Not yet sure on TRU. Star Trek: still "waiting to see how wave 1 sells". Chuck referenced how well TOS sells, seemed lukewarm on the old "TNG wave", to which I reminded him there was only 1 pack total of TNG and it was sold out fast. I'll not hold it against him since it was the final day of an exhausting SDCC. But he did say it will likely be "Legacy" going forward, and again not to expect all of the crews due to "it would take forever" at this rate.
  3. Pathfinder? They've been awfully quiet about that lately. T. I was more interested in Pathfinder than Thief of Thieves. And if it *must* be a video game property, Mortal Kombat is the only one I'd have a passing interest in. But there are a ton of properties I'd prefer.
  4. With all the properties they've offered, Minimates is my new Mego but for them to complete my sphere of interest, I'm gonna need some damned, dirty apes. (And some astronauts. Because astronauts rock, especially ape astronauts. Oh, and the Icarus. Astronauts need a sweet ride.) Because we're fools! FOOLS, I tell you! HAHAHahahaaaaa!!! I agree wholeheartedly!! Ape Astronauts! As for Pulp Fiction / Sin City, How are these "BIG"? These are a few box sets, not very expansive for selections.
  5. I think that's already been debunked. Really?!?! Now I am excited. I can't help but think of the following in this order: 1. Masters of the Universe - Eons ago when AA still owned Minimates, I was at a Con talking to Adam Unger. He said he was talking to a rep from Mattel who advised him that Art Asylum should go all in with making only Minimates. This was a long time ago but I remember thinking how cool it was that a big toy company knew of and respected the Minimates brand. I believe TBT was with me so he can back me up or shoot me down. After seeing Icon Heroes Castle Grayskull, I have hopes that Icon Heroes can pull off MOTU Minimates. 2. Walking Dead TV Show - The comic versions have been a smash hit. I think it's a given we will see a series based on the show at some point. 3. Star Wars - This would be a seismic event. An honest-to-God earthquake would strike SDCC. I theorize it won't be the following: 1. Return of DC Minimates - This will be a *new* line so I don't think DC qualifies. Plus, DC movies have been weak. Weak interest with high license costs = no. 2. GI Joe - The Kreons seem to preclude GI Joe. Plus, GI Joe movies have been weak. Weak interest with high license costs = no. 3. Planet of the Apes - I'm on the fence with this one. If DST got the license for a good deal, then maybe. But I don't see TRU quickly selling out of these. It's a big gamble in an area packed with eclectic merchandise from old movies, horror, and video games. Thanks for the major knowledge bomb! Very cool to hear that about Mattel & AA Honestly, as long as it's not a video game franchise (NOT my favorite area), I'm excited. I'm not a big MOTU fan, but if they're handled like Thundercats I'd be buying them all. Walking Dead TV show - please No! Aside from a Daryl / Merle 2-pack, I really don't need much of anything from the TV show, especially as a "big" line. POTA would definitely work, even if it's a handful of boxsets or a couple figure waves. POTA is the granddaddy of licensed lines, and the designs would translate very well to minimates. Star Wars - license is so micro-sliced into fractions of pies, not going to hold my breath. DC - with the focus on New 52, I've lost all interest. Would buy '66 Batman mates though. GI Joe - I agree. I'd buy them, but not very likely at all.
  6. I don't hate Alan Moore as much as I hate his attitude. As for Miller, I didn't care for All Star Goddamn Batman, but I don't hate his previous work that I've enjoyed. But Alan Moore needs an editor who's unafraid to tell him that all of his genius ideas are still getting stuck in his head and not translating to the page as well as his holiness seems to think they are when he writes them. His recent work just oozes pompousness, as if it doesn't "click" for you it's the readers fault not the writers. Grant Morrison needs the same editor too, BTW.
  7. That would be amazing. Then I'd be able to have a minimate of a former boss...(I know he'd love it, he's like a big kid anyway ) If it's Ben, I bet you'd turn it into a voodoo doll!
  8. I think that's already been debunked. It can be big if they incorporate classic with the new movies. I would tolerate a few box sets of new movie Ape related mates if it got me a bunch of classic ones - there are a ton of great looking designs available.
  9. Can someone explain to me the Frank Miller hate? I met him a few years back at the Scream Awards, and he was a bit of a dirty old man around some of the talent, but why do people here seem to hate him? Is it an All Star Batman thing?
  10. Don't you know? There was a Tesseract inside the suitcase. This caused Jules to lose an eye, then he shaved his head and changed his name after Walking the Earth to decide to fight crime as Nick Fury. So this is just First Appearance Nick Fury.
  11. Such a cruel thing to tease! Now you better hope this happens or I'm coming to your place and knocking over your minimates! Seriously though, it would be great timing with the new movie coming soon
  12. I imagine we'll see more Marvel minimates (possibly just control art) during the panel on Saturday. As long as Star Trek wave 2 is shown, I promise not to riot .
  13. Does Mecha-Hulk have Gremlin tampoed on it's chest under the armor?
  14. Really? I'd heard about the MU rebranding, but they're ending Legends already? Hate to say it, but if that's true, I'm actually relieved that Legends is ending (again). I can't justify spending $20 per figure. I LOL'ed when I saw the $14.99 SRP on the cards in the pics. They've always been $17.99 to $22.99 with the average of $19.99 here in LA (the prices vary from TRU to TRU and Target to Target here.)
  15. Wow! Even more over packed than the last few years? I didn't think that was possible due to the Fire Marshall's restrictions! Unless everyone goes in the dealers room at the same times.
  16. Really? I'd heard about the MU rebranding, but they're ending Legends already?
  17. Hence the extra army-builder head. Awesome!!
  18. Loving the Heimdall mate, can't wait to see the TRU counterpart wave!
  19. Clearer Aliens pics?? Where?? The ones one or two pages back. They don't show the aliens in all their glory since no phottos are allowed but they are clear enough and they are visible from certain angles. You mean the reposted Storm 1:08 pics? I saw those, but when someone thanked YB I thought I'd missed something more. Props to everyone providing pics! Much appreciated! I doubt I'm going to make the panel on Saturday, so hopefully those pics will turn up quickly As for this last BIG unannounced line, is this bigger than Aliens?? Because I have a sinking feeling it's going to *be* Aliens, since they haven't been formally shown (no photos, etc, no banner up on the booth). If it's not, what else is BIG? Fingers crossed for LOTR / Hobbit!
  20. Same here. But it would be a travesty to get this license and NOT do an electric chair! Imagine the diorama potential alone with the Walking Dead line. I'd buy a few extras. (and paint if they're black & white)
  21. Here's hoping Star Trek wave 2 will be revealed at the panel on Saturday! And, is this the end of B & C-listers at TRU?? Those were always my favorites!
  22. Thanks! Holy Spit!! Can't wait to see that 66 Batmobile in person! I'm glad I don't collect Hot Toys, I'd be broke and have no room!
  23. Well, the best benefit for everyone with SDCC is that at least we know when we're getting a ton of Toy News.
