well its going into the third week of February and I find myself back in Illinois with out my wife. I was unable to secure any kind of job in Portland and the stress of moving and strained finaces brought out the worst for Jess and I. We love each other and are talking but things are strained in the extreme obviously. In a final effort to salvage my relationship with my wife I intend to sell of my Mates collection to generate funds for counseling for the two of us and a new car for me as the journey to Portland killed mine. I suppose I will be posting figs on ebay in an auction format if there is something your after hit me up if its Marvel, Trek or classic BSG I have it. I'll post again when auctions start to go up. As we have no kids, and our marriage has a history of being broken I have taken quite a bit of flack in regards to the level of devotion I have for my wife. You can keep those comments. I will not give up on her until she tells me its over and she doesn't love me anymore, we both have our problems but in the end she is the most wonderful person I have ever spent time with and I will not give up on my love for her or our marriage.

Not a huge DD fan but I have to admit that is a great fig. the pics are also top notch, thnx for the share. the same shadow effect from the first shot combined with the pose from the third would rock, if your taking requests.

yeah, we do that here. everyone makes their own frakenmate as a photo partner then they have a list of settings or photo op's each op is assigned points and they have at it. It seems way to elaborate in my head for me to have made it up.. "Minimate Hunt" while it isn't something I've taken part in I did think it was an annual thing but i only see a thread for 2011..

Don't we already have an annual contest with this type of theme? also if thats a contest suggestion for most pornographic mate I need to pass, I like to leave that kind of thing for Ivan's revenge. Now that would be a contender for box set of the year! If we can get a strange tales box set we sure can get this 90s Boxset. that would be a bang up set for all us fans of the C & D list characters for sure! a Deathlok and Sleepwalker at the least would be welcome additions to my stock pile of Marvel mates

This thread makes me cringe. My wife owns a kindle, I am stalwart about printed material. There is a book by Robert Heinlein called "Farnhams Freehold" a post-apocalyptic story about a fella and his family trying to just survive. The barter system plays a huge role in their lives and books even more so in that system. Pops hangs a sign on his door to the effect "We barter here, Books treated like gold" I forget the exact wording and don't own a copy of the title anymore but that was the gist of it. Colored my view of printed material for life. The slow conversion from print to digital seems awfully short sighted to me. Newspapers going by the wayside I get that, but books, those should be revered. The movie scene floating through my head is Indiana Jones watching Nazis torch a huge pile of books and having a scowl of disgust on his face. There is a reason Indy is pissed off, and while digital conversion is NOT book burning I just can't help but think it is leading us down a similar path. Just my very humble opinion.

yeah the transporter from mattel is a truly golden moment from my childhood. Tromping around the house doing the human beat box thing to the theme music with my Eagle 1 held above my head, GOOD frackin' times. I would be pretty enthusiastic about any kind of revival effort done with this show. A few years ago there was a line of cloth mego like dolls for the show, should DST eventually take on a Mate project for this I would hope it would go that route as it had a pretty deep character selection.

I have to admit I agree about the character depth we have gotten and I tend to think the same way about Marvel toy lines as in "Once you start it you better finish it and I want EVERYBODY.". I also agree strongly about this place. I've had to spend some time considering liquidating my mates and when I look at the figs I have and their accessories there is a lot of influence from the 'verse from seamless QC's, hot mods and part swaps to actual figs from trades or outright gifts. Its turned my collection into just that, Mine, its somehow much more personal for me than any other modern toy line I've collected, it's going to be a real hard sell if it should come to that.

its a niche thing, don't feel too bad about it. After reading the Q&A I think its pretty safe to say don't get your hopes up.

oh wow, i so wish. the thought of a large line of minimate SPACE:1999 stuff is just outside of what I can cope with. I mean you think TM2Dino is outa control with his squeeing? This or a Micronaut themed line of mates would well it would be wasted as I would have squeed myself to death by the time a release came around.

MisterPL made a comment in the speculation thread about MEGO's and multiple same scale properties. It brought out a flood of great memories for me, loved MEGO's as a kid. It also got me to wondering about what the appeal of minimates is for folks. For me its a MEGO factor and a matter of articulation. For me when figs carry a high degree of articulation its a real win, the block figure seems to allow itself to this while joints and such are not so jarring to the eye because it is just a block figure. Tons of interchangeable parts is also a winning concept for me as I LOVED the Micronauts line. So how 'bout the rest of you? What is it about this line that keeps you coming back? *I did take some time to look for a similar thread as this but failed to find one, if I missed it Mods please feel free to merge this in the right spot*

I was also avoiding this remake like the plague, but once the red band trailer floated into my view I looked at it a bit. It sounds like the movie is being made by the original production staff to some extent and looks hella intense, I'm in for a viewing.

I can't think of anything I just couldn't stand to see made, oh wait just hit me. Jersey Shore 'mates, PLEASE never let this happen. Reality shows in general simply do not deserve merchandise, ever.
