  1. thats definitely his current costume. would love to see that made into a mate
  2. 1. Stop using the term "politically correct" there is still tons of legalized and institutionalized racism and sexism in this country, none of these choices are made to satisfy politics, they are made to reflect the real world, which surprise, has more than just white men in it. 2. They make new characters all the time. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't, same goes for legacy characters, none of this is a new concept, Eric Masterson wss Thor for years, Jean Paul Valley was Batman. Conner Hawke was Green Arrow and Bucky was Captain America. When a character takes on an existing mantel it's 9/10 times the writers choice, and when the next writer wants to, they change it again. You can hate the idea of Cho as Hulk or Miles as Spiderman or Falcon as cap all you want, but don't kid yourself about the medium you're reading, its been this way for decades, it will be this way for decades to come
  3. hoping this is a horribly sexist joke and not your true meaning not all comics are for you sorry not sorry
  4. Warmachines armor is new, its marked 003, the one in AoU was 002, it has a number of noticeable differences the main one being the laser cannon while this promo art is AMAZING I'm a little bummed Scarlet Witch is absent and Widows hair isnt shorter
  5. do we know if the Sabertooth and Kluh sets come with any extra goodies?
  6. he said she would not be in costume in this movie, she may appear as Janet, though I think Michael Douglas has said he only had one film in his contract
  7. I wanna say its Luke Cage and that an unused idea for the story?
  8. I thought it was how many years you have been on the site? EDIT: actually that makes no sense either....so its just an estimate of how much you've contributed? it doesnt seem to coordinate with post count directly
  9. Shaun the Sheep looks freaking awesome, might go see this tonight with the theater crew...kinda dreading it now. Also your gf is not part of the problem, shes the victim, Fox shoving movies down peoples throats through boat loads of false advertising is part of the problem.
  10. 1. Comic writers aren't writing this film so...??? 2. There are great fantastic four comics to draw on so blaming comic writers is a bit of a cop-out too The reaction to this movie is disappointing, such an awesome cast and director, I'm interested to see it tomorrow to find out what went so wrong
  11. As someone who has very few holes in his collection, I feel if a character hasnt been made in 5 or more years, they are fair game, Old Man Logan doesnt really fit that bill because we have seen plenty of Wolverines, but for me its a special case because he will be joining the main X-men team at the end of Secret Wars so Im happy to get another to add to that line up
  12. I posted this on my facebook today and it sums up my thoughts about Antman completely: "Antman is the kind of movie that reminds you why superhero movies are so great while still showing you something you've never seem before" The visual direction is fantastic, casting is on point as always, its like the Indiana Jones to Guardians' Starwars. The size changing sequences are breathtaking and innovative and offer a truly new and psychedelic experience to the MCU that we really havent seen before. There are plenty of nods to the comics and larger universe of the MCU and some are far more present than I expected but are extremely welcome and dont feel forced at all. Also there are two after the credits scene, first is better then the second, though the second is still worth seeing.
  13. And here we have a joke that illustrates perfectly how one can "miss the point"
  14. That just made my morning. DARKHAWK FOREVER! Pretty sure he meant Nighthawk, as Darkhawk hasnt appeared on any of these shows Thank you for doing the poll Steve, awesome way to connect to fans, very excited for Squirrel Girl and Man-Thing
  15. Marvel is still the studio that has the comic book film system down in my opinion, its a formula, but the formula is built on bucking the formula, yes the films have a sense of continuity, but that's part of what makes them great, and while comedy is always present, it never overwrites the essence of the film, the Ironman movies are comedic but are still great action movies at their core, Winter Soldier has comedy but is still a politcal thriller, etc. Guardians and Antman may be the two films that have come the closest to being all-out comedies but Guardians still achieves a thrilling space-opera with real heart and from what i've heard, Antman is a very grounded and relatable story about a father trying to make amends with his daughter. Now back on topic. This film looks great, Harley looks a little too subdued from the trailer so Im hoping when we get lengthier dialogue from her its a bit more on the crazy side, Joker looks completely terrifying in the best ways possible and that Deadshot suit looks bad ass on camera. Also El Diablo is perfection, same goes for Boomerang and Waller LAST last note: Freaking LOVE that we see Batman in the trailer, even if hes only in one scene, just makes me happy to see that awesome suit in action.
  16. Just thought i'd mention that a while back Patrick Stewart mentioned he was in talks to be a part of the next Wolverine film as a companion to Logan maybe he will be filling the role of Old-Man Hawkeye
  17. I think you raise valid points Politician, and I do think there is truth to what you say, Snyder definitely isnt the director to make the best case for when it comes to symbolism or political allegory, but I also feel the Christ imagery is to show how this world is seeing Superman, not how we as the viewer should, its showing us the two ways he is being interpreted in this universe, both are extreme. Either way I think its better to wait till the movie actually releases before we judge how certain content is truly handled in the context of the plot.
  18. From the footage we were shown, Deadpool is amazing and everything I want, Apocalypse is sorta up in the air, I really enjoyed DOFP but I did not think it was a good X-men film, hopefully this one will be, the trailer excites me but 90% because of the character reveals Spoilerish talk:
  19. While I agree with Karamazov's thoughts on Snyder, I don't think its wrong to use allegories for real hate-movements to drive home the point that a characters views are oppressive and wrong. Hydra uses Nazi propaganda all the time X-men comics have had VERY direct references, sometimes even mentioning actual hate-groups by name as instigators of violence against them While I can understand that the same hateful messages thrown at gay people cannot be compared to the flack Superman, a straight, white and empowered man would receive, I honestly think the above imagery makes cultural sense given the story. I do think comic books and comic book movies are meant to mirror our reality and having the characters go through the same persecution that their readers do, possibly on a daily basis, is important to help give those people a character to relate too and to show the world how messed up our world really is
  20. I loved the trailer, have a lot of thoughts, probably will post a full list of them but for now what I will say is: This looks like Kingdom Come's visual style and grandiose story telling mixed with The Dark Knight Returns grim look at modern society and sensibilities and for a movie that has a fully-realized version of Superman meet a fully-realized version of Batman I don't know that you could pick two better stories to use as influence 4 quick notes: 1. I really wanna know whats going on with the "Super-Soldier", maybe they're aliens? Maybe that's not Batman? I will be very disappointed if Batman kills, Superman has never made that vow, Batman has. There is definitely more to this sequence then we could possibly know right now but maybe they're androids? 2. Not seeing any tombstones with Graysons name on them can you show a screencap? 3. Protesting Superman makes sense in the context of the movie, to the public's knowledge he may have been responsible for a mass amount of destruction and based on our societies tolerance of people who are different this seems like a logical move. Also not sure how parodying anti-gay propaganda is offensive, as anti-gay propaganda is already offensive, so parodying it is very welcome in my book. 4. Also I think while Superman is definitely a more idealized character than most, its important to note he is one of the only Immigrant superheroes and the message of "you dont owe this place anything" is a very important one, the idea that anyone look for a home when in need, must then owe that home for taking them in, when they had no choice in the matter, is a fairly twisted one and why we have such a stigma against Immigrants in this country (the US), so for his mom to tell him 'you can be their savior, or you can just live your life' is almost more important a message then him being told he must serve as this messianic figure for humanity
  21. ...What Doom is a major player because he is a major player, as is Sue and Reed and Valeria in SW, Thing and Torch have already been confirmed to have places in ANAD
  22. 1. This should go in the Minimates Arms section and under the Antman film topic 2. Please include a spoiler tag because even though this is in a trailer, its still pretty spoilerific 3. Its very cool
  23. Welcome to Jonathan Hickman's writing style. Population: vague. pretty sure you guys are reading a different comic then honestly I feel really discouraged by the Marvel threads on this forum , seems everyone is so afraid of new ideas that they cant even give them a chance I hope that works well for you, the best of luck to ya Marvel will still be here and thriving when you choose to get on board
  24. In the words of Tom Brevoort "Sorry to see you go. We’ll be here if you ever want to come back." Very excited for Invincible Ironman, A-force, ANAD Avengers, Ultimates, Strange, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Hulk, Mighty Thor, Scarlet Witch, Ms Marvel, Illuminati, Hawkeye, Antman, Vision, Amazing Spiderman, Spider Woman, Spiderman, SpiderGwen, Silk, Guardians, Drax, Howard the Duck, Starlord, Uncanny Inhumans, Karnak, Angela, Squadron Supreme, Extraordinary X-men, Uncanny X-men, Old Man Logan, All-New Wolverine and still waiting to see what else they announce
