  1. I think the GB ghosts fit perfectly into the Minimate Landscape - as I "define mates", I think the caricature nature of the likenesses is one of the most defining characterisitcs, and to the degree that GB mates are block-y likenesses of the real thing, as they are for ST, BSG, Marvel and everything else, they fit perfectly.

It's my opinion that Battlebeasts are just forcing some of the BB attributes onto mini block figures and really overlooks some of the elements that defined the original BB's like the stance and overly muscular build and the heat-change elemental doo dad

  2. Hmm...now what could this mean?? DST has updated their page (finally!!!) with all new TRU Arrival Dates!! With it, of course, are the BSG Series 2 and Miniflyers; FY!, they BOTH say in-stores now. Keep a look out, guys. Anyway, with it they give a description for each:

    Battlestar Galactica Minimates Series 2:

    Arriving in stores: Now!

This entire wave of five new Minimates two-packs will delight sci-fi fans and collectors alike as we round out the cast with new versions of their favorite characters, Cylons and even the Final Five! With Eye Patch Tigh & Captivity Six, Chief Tyrol & Mortar-Pack Cylon Centurion, Athena & Cylon Centurion, Tory Foster & Sam Anders, plus the enigmatic Ellen & Simon two-packs in stores now, this set is the perfect companion to our next exclusive...

I'm sorry, what?? ANOTHER exclusive?? I'm gonna go ahead and say that they are referring to good ole Stripey, and i guess that may mean that he'll be a PX two-pack or something...with quite possibly our Marines. :)

I think the "Next Exclusive" that is being referred to is the Wave 1 Miniflyers (which are the next TRU exclusive in the announcement). I wouldn't read too much into that, as a third wave seems pretty optimistic

  3. Yeah... it's also hard for me to get excited about these. In my opinion Battlesbeasts reminds me of some of the more dodgy premises that came out of the 80's cartoon-product tie-ins. Sure, the idea paid off for GI Joe & Transformers, but other licenses (like Battlebeasts) held no interest whatsoever.

I agree with Bob Harris - these don't don't seem minimate-like to me either.

  4. Had a package waiting for me at work today with the flyers inside. I was pretty happy. Cdubya, thanks for the guide about the stickers. The written description was enough for me. Most of them made sense without needing a writeup, but for the ones that didn't, I was scratching my head.

For the Viper sticker that goes in the translucent part of the cockpit, I put mine on, and it actually looks okay. Most of the sticker is over the joint that opens the cockpit, so the amount of white you see isn't very much. Plus, with the gray of that part, it looks like just an extension of the controls, so I think it fits okay.

I'm loving the stubby Minimatish design of the Viper. I think the Raider is a bit "big headed" (even by Minimate standards), but it's cool nonetheless. I do wish the red dot of the eye were centered, though. But having them in hand and playing around with them makes me like them a lot more. I'm happy to have them, but wasn't terribly saddened when they were announced as not being made. But having them, I'm really glad they got done, and are super cool. Much cooler than the C3 flyers.

EDIT: Quick update to my 2-packs with TRU.com... So after getting an e-mail one morning saying that they had no shipping date and telling me to call if I wanted to cancel, me buying the Tigh/Six pack from a B&M store, then me calling to cancel to be told it couldn't be canceled because they were leaving the warehouse...I got an e-mail the next morning saying that they were out of stock and my Tigh/Six pack was canceled from my order. Ugh. At least I was able to get them.

TRU.com's order status and inventory tracking has something seriously wrong -

  5. Heres something I found while bumming around on facebook today...it was linked to our pal Nervous and I checked it out as well....time to dig out some card stock a nd get building!

    Jeff of the Miniacs

These are great. I have the ST Transporter & the BTTF Billboard from a few months back. I never did sit down and take time to make the DeLorean (but I still have all of the sheets).

I can't wait to get a little cardstock and shoot these through the color laser printer at work.

  6. I found the first wave of Kidrobot Futurama Qees at Urban Outfitters today - $9/ea for blind boxes is a little steep so I could only get a few.

I got Sal w/ Bachelor Chow box, Fry w/ Pizza box & Morbo w/ tube of vein cream

I was hoping to get Zoidberg or Bender on the first round

  7. Today I got 5 individual packages from TRU.com. Three envelopes & two boxes, each with a single pack of GB mates - even though I ordered them all at the same time. Funny thing is - I've been tracking these since they left the warehouse and the boxes (which were shipped and rec'd at the Distribution center) got a 3-day head start and spent an extra 3-day layover at the post office hub. I guess if it's in a box, the Post Office gets to take their sweet a$$ time. I'm just happy these all showed up

  8. It's kind of hard to complain when they screw up like that, isn't it?

Well - considering that they charged me for it (even though it was "cancelled") and now I've paid to have a 2nd set shipped (which is too far along in the process to cancel) - I'd say I got mildly hosed on the shipping charges... otherwise, I'm happy that I'm so close to having my BSG mates complete (except miniflyers). The last pair of 2-packs is in the mail as we speak.

Sadly - even though these seem to be moving out of the warehouse and off the shelves at a decent pace, I'm thinking this is the last of the BSG waves - I can't imagine TRU going for bunches of secondary & tertiary characters. As it is, I expect that an additional wave of 10 will only bring about 5-6 new characters - with each 2-pack being anchored with another cylon or one of the primary characters( that we already have) to insure more broad based sales. Hopefully the flyers will do well enough that maybe a MK2 or raptor will be part of the plan before this license ends

  9. This wave has had more twists to it than the last season of BSG. Here's the timeline:

I ordered a set of series 2 months ago.

As they show up in stock, my Ellen/Simon become cancelled because they're out of stock (which is verified by customer service).

Two days later, Ellen/Simon are back in stock and I receive a notification that my Athena/Cylon set are shipping.

Today, I receive a package with Athena/Cylon and, wait for dramatic pause, an Ellen/Simon pack.

I am thankful, yet very confused. Now I have to figure out if they charged me for it.

Same deal here - the Cancelled Ellen & Simon set were nebulously included in the package with Athena & the Cylon.

    Go figure.

  10. Here;s what kinds pisses me off...

so I order all 5 sets + a viper mini flyer. Get a cancellation on Ellen and Simon, but otherwise the other four sets ship (individually)... and then, as someone here pointed out, Ellen & Simon back in stock, which I order and am waiting for shipment.

Now I gotta talk some service rep into crediting my shipping fees on the second order, 'cause if they hadn't prematurely cancelled Ellen & Simon, it would have fallen within the shipping charges of the original order, instead of an xtrra $5-$6.

What a pain in the A$$

  11. Ellen/Simon Cancelled e-mail rec'd today

    Athena/Cylon & Tory/Anders Shipped.... separately

    Chief/Cylon & Tigh/Six still on hold

Looks like I'm hunting these down (which I hoped to avoid) to make sure I don't get hosed on the last 2 sets as well. It kind looks like they don't order bunches for the internet - and that stock for the stores supercedes preorders

  12. I'm holding out for the Suncoast Cylon Mothership Pack ,an oracle ,gods-know how many skin-jobs & about 5000 toasters.

I've got no hope for mates at Suncoast - much less exclusives.

The ones I've seen have shifted to mass market toys like Star Wars, GI Joe & Playmates Star Trek and/or Twilight & Anime

The specialty toys and collectables have been drying up slowly and are neglected - though I was sure GB was going to be a given at Suncoast.

  13. Both of the Target stores near my house have reconfigured to include this card display in the aisles... neither had minimates but they are not Super Target stores (west coast, liberal city council types have it in for any Super Target or Super Walmart).

Unfortunately, none of the product that has shown up is anything that has sold too well and has been on most websites at bargain-basement prices - which might suggest that the third party vendor is snatching up whatever they can cheap and using Target as a channel to push it, which would make sense if they have to give Target a cut. I'd be interested to see if it keeps going - 'cause it poaches from Target's market for other toys and large supplies of heavily discounted mates are not abundant.
