  1. I guess that confirms that West Coast Wins Again! Muahahahaha That'd be a nice change... I could use a minimate fix or two! I'm still trying to figure out this West Coast thing - since it's on the ship list for the LCS that Storm goes to, it may show up this week, even if it's not on the DST ship list? Is that how it works? Storm, are you West Coast?
  2. Well... With October 3 less than a week away, I thought I'd get the ball rollin' on the "Is DST gonna honor the published release date" debate for ST Wave 2, which has a release date of this week. What do you all think? There's always option 6: I hope they don't come out, I need at least a week to sell some plasma before I can afford more mates.
  3. Did you take part in the Target promo? Because it's looking more and more like that's where the Database came from. T. Yeah.... that's why I mentioned that I was still hopeful more were on the way... both my son and I sent away and were included in the Target giveaway.
  4. I think it speaks volumes about the appeal of minimates considering that boards like this and MMHQ exist with such passionate fans. Though, speaking for myself, I'd be disappointed if I wasn't included in this promo ('cause free, HTF minimates are cool) but it's a long way from berating DST or starting a complaint thread (If you want complainers, go the the AA Forums). I haven't really gotten the feeling that anyone here is on the verge of some bitter, disgruntled-postal-worker writing campaign or minimate boycot. It's unfortunate to be missed, but it's not a show stopper by any means - after all, it's great that they even bothered at all) Finally, out of courtesy to the thread god and others, we'd definitely start a "Storming the Castle with Torches thread" to keep the topics separate.
  5. I've been collecting toys or types of toys that I had when I was a kid and have such great memories. I was always into Sci Fi action figures, more than cars or super heroes or anything else. Some of my personal favorites were: Kenner Star Wars action figures - What else needs to be said, except that the newer figures are sooooo much cooler and have better joints, fabric clothes, more detail and holsters for weapons. Don't even get me started about an R2-D2 figure that's 3.75" tall with lights and sound or slave Leia. Mego Star Trek (the big ones with cloth uniforms and the Enterprise Bridge set) - These were the centerpiece of any Junior Trekkie Fun Pack and they had cool accessories (Phaser, Tricorder and Communicator) that you didn't get with other Mego superheroes. Money being what it is, I resorted to collecting some of the 9" Art Asylum/DST figures and minimates... if I knew we'd see the retro Mego figures again, I would have waited. Other Sci Fi toys like Buck Rogers, Classic BSG and The Black Hole - hey, when it came to Action figures, Han Solo needed someone to shoot when he ran out of Stormtroopers. These are always fun and inspired me to get the BSG minimates Space 1999 - A few neat toys and action figures, like to super-big Eagle Lander for the 3" figures - too bad the characters and story was so cerebral that it made Star Trek look like Indiana Jones. Hand-me-down box of 12" GI Joes from the 60's - Any action figure that comes with that many guns, grenades and military accessories AND a field manual to conduct a toy war rates at the top of any must-have list. When the hippies inspired Hasbro to dump the war angle and opt for adventures with super cool tanks and 6-wheel mummy-hunting rigs, it only got better. When they re-released the 12" Joes with the action accessory packs, I was all ready to take Joe to war all over again. As you can tell, I collect because it was something I had so much fun with, when I was growing up...
  6. It's Clint Eastwood - these are a must have. Enough said
  7. Pulling their faces off.... now that's sick. I can tell you're just waiting for the Hannibal Lecter mate to come out. I only check to see if the faces are straight is you can see all or part under the masks... like th BSG flight helmets or the partial facemasks like Daredevil. Otherwise, I don't mess with them unless I take off their head or something If anything, I always seem to be straightening their little feet As for urination charts.... I'll leave that to you real OCD cases
  8. Still nothing for me.... though I participated in the target offer. I hope they're not done sending them out.
  9. Agreed. It's probably a long-shot though. Does anyone happen to have a Lego horse handy? I'd love to see a pic with a Minimate for a size comparison. Let me see what I can do... my kids also havelego and they also have playmobil and I can see how close they are.... I'm betting playmobil is a lot closer scale
  10. Another delay.... that sucks. I think the newsletter hinted that you could buy it in the store in the form of a pre-order
  11. No problem guys, just passing the news along. I certainly hope this isn't the last wave either. I think they could easily get another 4 waves out with some of the third tier characters paired with variants of the main characters. I would love to see Kara/Leoben 2-pack from New Caprica- or any of the New Caprica outfits. By the way, miniseries Baltar art from way back when: http://minimateheadquarters.com/blog/wp-ga...?g2_itemId=7231 Thanks for the Baltar pic... I'd forgotten about those concept drawings
  12. This wave looks great, and I'm so happy that they didn't end up as exclusives. I'm so tired of chasing a con exclusive on eBay. It's funny that this rolled out this week, just as I got a head and hair to make my Gaeta custom work. I'm wondering what the variant Baltar looks like. Let's hope this isn't the last wave.... we still got all those cylons: Tori Anders Cavil Leoben Simon Doral And how about a colonial marine (and a female variant?) Afterall... look at all the Marvel mates. Is another wave of BSG too much to ask?
  13. Yeah, no kidding. Lee in drag just doesn't quite have the same effect, lol. There's something not right about Lee Adama with Man-boobs
  14. By the way.... for anyone still looking for the Zombie 5-pack, I found them at Hot Topic.
  15. A male casual torso would be cool. As it is, I'm trying to get me hands on an additional exclusive Starbuck to make a casual dress Boomer.
  16. Nothing yet here, but if this is the Target promo, then I can't wait for next weeks mail
  17. NOthing here.... I'm hoping that maybe the West Coast thing is slowing the mail down
  18. Gilligan's island.... now that's a cool idea. Need to make sure to include the coconut radio for the professor and Thurston Howell's homemade golf clubs I've got one better from that era though.... Hogan's Heroes. I see nothing. I hear nothing....
  19. So... I'm not sure I follow. The free stuff in the mail is pretty self-explanatory. What I don't get is the reason/criteria that these were sent out? Are they fallout from the Target contest or as Radicals members or previous DST customers? Or is there something I've missed. I'm all of the above, and haven't received anything yet.
  20. I've never gotten into the superhero and comic book scene as much as Sci-Fi. That being said, BSG and Star Trek are my real priorities for minimates. Back to the Future is ranking up there, when they come out. I'm thinking hard about 24 also. I pick up some of the Superhero characters in both Marvel and DC lines, but that's really about finding chacters that I think are cool like She-Hulk, Thor, Shazam, X-Men and Green Arrow, but I try to keep the amount I spend on those down to minimum. I'll also pick something up if the price is right (translation: Clearance) for parts.
  21. I can't say that I'm really surprised. I was hoping to see these this week..... especially since they just moved them from last week
