  1. I just bought and opened a 7" Toyrocket Exclusive Razor Cylon - DST had it's typical product flier taped to the back (similar to those enclosed with the minimatges), which included the original pre-cancellation BSG Minimates Waves 5 & 6 with the "Available Now" banner. Oops! Likewise they had the frequently-delayed and recently-placed-on-hold 4th Series (Pres Apollo, Roslin, THe Admiral & PX Cain) of the 7" a/f's as "In Stores Now"... Ooops again. Perhaps it's time for DST's marketing department to put a psychic on the payroll.
  2. I didn't get an e-mail - I just checked the My Account status at the tru website
  3. So my Anders/Tory set and Ellen/Simon sets are 'located in stock'. My Athena/Cylon set says 'backordered' - anyone else get that ? And the other two sets say 'on hold until release date'. Looks like I might have to find that Athena set in stores. Lousy army builder collectors. My account shows Tigh/Six, Viper Miniflyer & Chief/Cylon on hold 'til 8/21. Athena/Cylon, Ellen/Simon & Tory Anders are all located in stock
  4. I was looking at the order status on my TRU account - the status on 3 of the wave 2 sets has been changed to: "Item(s) located in stock" which suggests that they have received these. The remaining 2 sets and the flyers are still display the on hold 'til 8/21" message
  5. No lights - but it plays Ray Parker Jr.'s Ghostbusters song.
  6. Also in the TBD column are ST Series 5 A/F and BSG Series 4 A/F, which have all been mentioned in their Q&A blogs as having low pre-sale support. I'd say that this is a sign that these are going the way of the Rocky 3 wave.
  7. Dude, party foul. The people on this board are nothing but helpful, accommodating and generous. ... and under absolutely no obligation to be a shopping service for everyone else on the board. There are a lot of people here who move product around to other members - and do so at fair personal expense, including time & gas to shop, packaging and hitting the post office... and it's all done at cost, with no markups or scalping. Not to mention, that it's been difficult to find 1 full set, much less bunches of extras for everyone else. It's more than a little insulting to be called out by some uppity newbie, who has been here a whole 3 weeks and has his panties in a tight knot 'cause he's confused the board membership with Santa Claus.
  8. I'm guessing that the Mortar Cylon will be the same as the exclusive that came out lat year. Just a Cylon with a mortar launcher on his back. IMO this two pack is a total waste. They should have done a Romo/Civil War Cylon 2 pack instead. I think, to appeal to completists, as well as people who may have missed the first few waves (and are buying these at TRU for the first time), these waves were designed to hit the primary characters like Starbuck & the Adamas, as well as the robotic cylons and all of the skin-job cylons in there - so having Tyrol makes sense. Though I know peopl like Romo, he was a pretty minor character - if it wasn't the Chief, we would have seen Gaeta, Helo, Roslin or one of the other more regular characters (who is more recognizable and representative of the whole series). In fact, I'm surprised that Baltar got a pass on this wave. Now that TRU is carrying these exclusively, I wouldn't bank too heavily on obscure or background characters if there are future waves. They'll look for recognizeable, primary characters and mechanical cylons to reach a broader, younger market.
  9. I saw the Rhino vehicle for the 3 3/4" figs in one of the print ads in the newspaper today - does anyone think it looks like a rip-off of the Aliens APC? Either way - if there was a vehicle made, besides the Ecto 1 or BTTF DeLorean, I'd say something like this would be at the top of my minimate list (though I'd much prefer the Aliens variation w/o the corny, detachable helicopter.)
  10. Given that it's about a week after SDCC and it's only DST's first attempt at a release date - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do the math and figure out that these were gonna be pushed back.
  11. For those of you looking - scifigenre.com has wave 25 & 26 in stock - unfortunately they're a bit predatory on the variant sets @ $20-$25/pk (but they do have the Wave 25 set in stock), but otherwise they do pretty good on the price, shipping is fast & fair (and in boxes). http://www.scifigenre.com/itemList.aspx?si...ExpandToID=4101 http://www.scifigenre.com/itemList.aspx?si...ExpandToID=4102 Just a note - if the order status says "In Stock", they have it on hand and it will usually be shipped within a day (oftentimes same day). If the status is "Available", then they have to order it from DST. As of this morning, they had all the sets on hand except the Wave 26 variant.
  12. I got the Toyrocket notice too - I have a couple of ST figures on pre-order. Since they haven't collected money and they don't "owe" me anything, I not sure why I would receive a notice as if I were a creditor who they owed money or product. Though I'm not sure it's what they want, I asked them to cancel the order - I could just imagine them charging my CC and using the bankruptcy as an excuse to delay/stiff me on my merchandise. I'm not gonna sit around and file notices to make sure that I get a couple of $15 action figures.
  13. AFX is supposed to have them - at least thjey shipped my pre-order this week
  14. I think that there would be a lot of direction to go with Harry Potter - so many neat characters and accessories - I wonder if Lego still has that license for block figures. Gilligan's island is another list with characters that are pretty distinct and would translate well into mates. I was watching the classic Scooby Doo / Scooby Doo Where Are You? Cartoons with my son this weekend - and I couldn'ty help but think how I could whip up the Mystery Inc. gang with existing parts... and then imagine each of the 5 principal characters packaged with some of the more notorious villains like Blackbeard, the Spooky Space Kook, Capt Cutler (in the Glowing Diving Suit), the Miner 49'er, Werewolf, Dracula etc.
  15. Is there anyone who ardered GB Wave 2 that didn't get that message? If the message went out selectively, it might suggest that they have a product shortage (and can't meet the pre-orders). However, it the message went out globally, it may be a more generic situation (shipping delays or some such thing)
  16. I got the Dark Reign set this week - which I ordered with one other item (to qualify for the free ship) - The items arrived packaged together, in good shape, in a box. My BSG mates and the 2 sets of GB mates I ordered arrived in the same condition. I've ordered other things, in the past, that did not arrive so well. Though TRU's discretion (using bubble envelopes vs. boxes) is questionable, let's also remember that UPS and, in many cases the USPS handle these packages and are in possession of them longer than TRU. I seriously doubt someone takes each and every package aside and and jumps on it with both feet before letting it leave the warehouse. I find it a lot more plausible that that they are being mishandled in transit - especially since it is going super-duper budget freight (UPS Ground or the UPS/USPS Hybrid service). I think there should be an expecatation that anything shipped via UPS or USPS, should not include being mangled and flattened as part of the service.
  17. I got the notice too - but if you read the e-mail, it suggests that shipment is delayed, and not really backordered. I'm wondering of this is just DST missing their street date and TRU sending out notice.
  18. I was a little concerned that the limited run (2000 units) and huge sales at the con might have compromised our ability to pick these up after-the-fact. I just got notice that AFX is getting ready to ship these in the next couple of days
  19. Given the amazon set seems to be stalling (I can't even find it on eBay), I'm betting game-exclusive tie-ins are probably not going to happen. Nostalgia is gonna sell another wave of this line
  20. It's in the August Previews - I printed the form and dropped it off at my LCS this weekend. (funny that these haven't shown up on eBay like the other GB SDCC merch and freebies)
  21. I finally found this wave in the SF Bay Area... ON a hunch I called a TRU that's about 20 miles away and they had a whole case including the BE/MS set AND they were good enough to hold them for me for an hour or so. Suffice it to say, I made a quick roadtrip and scored BE/MS set and the Armored Spidey pack... finally.
  22. Creepy animal-like characters that are elementally aligned with Fire, Water & Wood? Funky, play-on-words type names? Collect all 84? This sounds like an early precursor to Pokemon without the seizures and and lurching, Japanese-style animation.
  23. Thanks for the report Lobsterman. Re: Battlebeast license: Good news for DST to get their hands on this property - I hope they can make some cash from it (though it won't be from me). I have absolutely no interest in Battlebeast mates (if they were to be made). I thought that the premise of battlebeasts was typical of so many licenses in the 80's - using cartoons to sell anything that could be molded in plastic and hold a sword or gun. Ghostbusters Wave 3: obviously I'd like to see this go another wave. My kids are discovering GB and it proves that the property is timeless (outdated special effects and all) as well as the outstanding sales. DST has done a great job of hitting many characters and ghosts, but we'd still like to see Janine, EPA guy Mr. Peck (aka "dickless"), Vigo, wired up Louis Tully and others. Mini-flyers: This comes as no surprise, since it was stated that TRU wanted play-along pieces to complement mates, which possibly opens the door for Raptors, MK II Vipers and, given the success of GB, Ecto-1/Ecto-1A. I'd also throw out a Terminator T-800 motorcycle and maybe a BTTF Delorean (w/ Radiation suit Marty and White coverall Doc Brown) as options. BTTF may be a stretch since it's been so long since the original mates hit the market, but since DST is doing the detailed time machine replicas, a minimate version may be covered within the current license. As for marvel - they don't really have a strong vehicle tie-in like DC/Batman and the batmobile, so nothing comes to mind - except perhaps an army Humvee or heli that would have complimented Hulk Mates when the movie was out. New Caprica Tigh & Starbuck: I think this is telling and suggests that the 2 waves of TRU exclusives were the last final blitz to satisfy fans and get all the cylon models into the market. Though they seem to be selling moderatley, the fact that they've taken these two variations (which have already been designed) off the board, suggests that DST and TRU are done with BSG for now.
