  1. The image of cross-dressing Black Widow has burned into the back of my eyes. I think I've found something to replace the whale in my nightmares.
  2. Not overused by Minimates, though. And while I dig his look (I'd never heard of him), I didn't know he was DLC. Tough break. I realise it's Capcom, not you guys who have overused the classic roster. When I played Capcom vs SNK2, I was quite annoyed at how about 95% of the roster on the Capcom side was made up of SF2 characters; it's hardly Capcom vs SNK2 IMO if all the characters come from one game but rather "SF2-and-a-few-friends vs SNK 2". Since then and discovered the horribly underrated Third Strike I've become of those "hipster" SF fans who thinks anyone who didn't debue in SF2 (i.e. characters from 1, Alpha, 3 and 4) are far better, partly because IMO they show Capcom's ability to create and expand on interesting characters and designs and/or offer interesting spins on fighting styles that have already been used (in other words, Dudley is nothing like Balrog and Alex is nothing like Zangeif despite them using the same fighting style) and partly because it's "hip" to main a non-SF2 character (i.e. I main Dudley). While I understand why people stick to SF2 (i.e. due to how iconic that game is for people and their childhood) I do feel they are missing out by not bothering with the squeals (and prequels) as Alpha, 3 and 4 all made great evolutions on the fighting mechanics (3 is considered one of the most technical 2D games, which doesn't help casual fans. Just check out the infamous Evo #37 Moment. The Parry Block works by pressing forward a split second before the attack hits, and to parry multiple attacks you need to press forward for each one). But as I've learnt before on this forum, one can't force fans to play those games. If you're interested in non-SF2 characters, I'd strongly recommend Super SF4 Arcade Edition, which adds some great new characters (Juri, Hakan, Abel and Gouken), brings back some classics from Alpha (Cody, Guy, Gen and Adon) and 3 (Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki, Yun and Yang) and offers a nice medium between the rather striped down (when compared to the other games) mechanics of SF2 but not quite as complex as what SF3 had.
  3. Have to say, I'm a bit disappointed they are only doing three waves. It certainly makes me feel we're unlikely to get some of the DLC characters like Dudley (think of him as being to me what Kang was to about 95% of the forum), Cody or Guy. Having said that I do think it would be good if Ryu, Akuma and Chun-Li are ignored due to them being in MvC3, freeing up their spots for those three.
  4. I do agree it's a shame E Honda isn't in the game, but more because they'd probably pair him up with Hakan from Super SFIV (Hakan's rival fight with Honda reveals they are old friends), whom is one of the best new characters added to SF since Dudley! Granted he is (apparently) a low tier character (meaning he struggles against most of the cast), but his theme song, personality, design, general background storyline and the originality behind his fighting style more than makes up for it (IMO anyway). I honestly wish those two made it in just so I could get a Hakan minimate
  5. With the exception of Blanka (DLC so a possibility) and E Honda (not in it), the SF x TK line will cover all the "classic" characters. Therefore, unless a new SF line were to use say older looks (i.e. the SF1 Ryu in MvC3), SF4's alternative costumes or dive into some of the more obscure characters (which, while I'd prefer that, would lack the appeal to the casual SF fans) I doubt Capcom would need to do a third version of this line. If anything, I'd like to see Darkstalkers get revived or perhaps the earlier MvC games but I doubt either will happen.
  6. Am I right in thinking none of the minimates in this wave come with any of the basic MvC3 stands? I was under the impression these were going to appear in all minimate packs from now on.
  7. Yes quiet old chap. Perhaps they should team up with Captain Britain, Union Jack, Psylocke and Steve Fox (British boxer from Tekken) to form a British version of the Avengers Anyway, great to see oyur back and I hope you and your family are ok.
  8. Wait what... Does this mean that DST are going to be gutter trash and once again deny me a minimate of the greatest gentleman to grace a fighting game tournament (I am of course referring to Dudley). We get fracking KANG and probably Barlog/Boxer and not Dudley?! DST; Did he say no Dudley? Granted, I just looked at the roster, and would be hard-pressed to find many characters that fall below the Dudley Diagonal. There are 25 characters in each universe, and we're PROBABLY only making 18, so... True, but a) Dudley is a DLC character who technically isn't available until September and I get the feeling the initial 38 are the people we're likely to get first, and b ) he's a SFIII character. I'm probably the only person on this forum who's actually used him more than once, let alone "main" him. If you guys are only going to do 18 per universe, I think it's fair to say he'll be pretty low on the priority list. Sorry if I seemed rude (I will admit I do love throwing around some of his classic 3rd Strike quotes like "Gutter trash" and "You have no dignity") but in my humble opinion non SFII characters > the "classic" *coughhorriblyoverusedcough* roster.
  9. Wait what... Does this mean that DST are going to be gutter trash and once again deny me a minimate of the greatest gentleman to grace a fighting game tournament (I am of course referring to Dudley). We get fracking KANG and probably Barlog/Boxer and not Dudley?! DST;
  10. DST, if you make those Guardians of the Galaxy custom into an official wave, I will forgive you for making Kang
  11. Fingers crossed for Rocket Raccoon
  12. I say the same thing about Batman. As for Squirrel Girl, read Great Lake Avengers Missasembled.
  13. I bought extras to army build vanilla Skrull soldiers, send me your address and I'll send you a replacement Thing hand! Mate you are a star . Much appreciated.
  14. I've thought about asking DST for a replacement part myself. When I opened the Super Skrull I noticed a fault on the minimate where some excess plastics was over the Thing hand, and when I flipped it back, part of the hand had been unpainted. I have considered just cutting off the excess plastic and painting over it but feel it could make things worse unless I get the right shade of orange. I don't know if DST will ship to the UK so it may not be possible for me to do so. Any advice is appreciated.
  15. Mystery Man - I'll certainly consider it. I will admit that DST did such a good job a Kang-hater like myself likes how he turned out, but it does depend on funds. As a British resident I will be reliant on either Luke's Toy Store or groundhog7s to help me obtain the sets, but at the moment I only buy minimates with the money I make off eBay sales (i.e. so my pay goes towards food, fuel and rent) and at the moment I'm struggling to make any half decent sales; I've even dived into my minimate parts box to see if there's anyone I can sell off in the hopes of making a good £20 off some random dupe everyone wants. With the final Marvel vs Capcom 3 wave, Street Fighter x Capcom and Avengers Movie waves as well as Monster Fighters and the remaining ZX and NRG ninja sets from Lego's Ninjago (I do love the designs) I don't know if I'll be able to afford both box sets, especially when it will no doubt cost me at least $40 to get both, not including shipping and handling to the UK.
  16. I have to say, when these two sets were first announced I was disappointing. I wasn't on the Kang bandwagon. If anything, I was on the opposite "Ugh, don't make Kang DST..." bandwagon. Why? Well I had never read a comic that made him out to be the uber-awesome villain everyone says he was and I will admit I'm prone to "Fan abuse kills interest"; the more people were calling out for him, the less I wanted to see him. HOWEVER, looking at the shots that have been released I have to say I'm tempted. I like how Wave 44 Antman, Iron Man, Cap, Thor and Hulk came out, the Hawkeye update was a much needed improvement and Grim Reaper came out well so I may end up getting these instead of sets from Wave 44. Whether or not I dismantle Kang, throw him into a blender, melt him or keep him for my collection remains to be seen.
  17. I started work on my own "Mon-EL the Man of Valor" about eighteen months ago. Then began to procrastinate :S He looks awesome (I like the detail you did on his cape) and I have to say, gives me some ideas on how I should continue mine (hope you don't mind ). Am I right in thinking you used Lee Adama as the face? If so, who's hair did you use?
  18. While I'd have preferred Rocket/Strider (i.e. as part of the UMvC3 wave), this is a good substitute. Besides, Squirrel Girl is in New Avengers and Rocket will soon be getting his own movie. DST would be best to jump on this band wagon while the iron is hot.
  19. Now we've got that waste of space Kang out of the way (am I the only collector who DIDN'T want him?!), we can focus on the far more awesome Rocket Raccoon . Too bad UMvC3 is off the cards, as we could have had a Stider/Rocket Raccoon two pack and that would have been awesome.
  20. DARN IT DST! Now you have to take more of my money! Why can't you and Lego give me a few months of "breathing room" to build up disposable income Out of interest, why do Hulk and Hawkeye come with two heads? Why not print the other face on the back of the existing head like you did for Raven (I'm sure there is a valid reason).
  21. I like the Soloman Grundy quick custom. Might have a shot at replicating.
  22. I absolutely agree with this quote. Rocket Raccoon is far more deserving for that spot
  23. I know I'm a bit late, but I am a little disappointed we aren't getting a fourth wave that would cover the three remaining characters and perhaps some of the remaining alternative costumes. Am I right in thinking you used First Appearance/SF1 Ryu because of issues making Hsien and Tron or was it an idea you considered (doing the alternative costumes) that ultimatly got scrapped when the line didn't continue past wave 3? Also as a fan of Strider, Rocket Raccoon and Captain Commando I do wish the line would extend to UMvC3 (for the first two) and the earlier games (for CapCom) but I realise you can't always get what you want. At least we got the three awesome waves, some great characters like Dante and Viewtiful Joe and the upcoming SF x Tekken line.
  24. Having recently gotten back into Tekken 6 (I'm not buying SFxT until a) Dudley is available and the game is AT LEAST £20 (aka the price of character DLC) cheaper), I'm both anxious for this line but also a little disappointed some of the more obscure/fan favourite characters like Lee Chaolan, Jun Kazama and Devil Kazuya (in the sense of how he looked in Tekken 2/Tag 1 or Kazuya's Tag 2 transformation) won't make it into this line. Like with the SF side, I appreciate this game (and in turn the minimate line) can only really focus on the big names with a handful of obscure characters but it's still a little annoying in my eyes. Hay hoo.
